Despite being established in 1914 Wirrabara still has black soil scrapes and measures 5538m Par 71 with four par 3s ranging from 99-170m, eleven par 4s ranging from 253-381m and three par 5s ranging from 428-526m.

The very linear 2 fairway-width layout surrounds the entire eastern side of the small southern Flinders Ranges town. The back nine holes have mostly shorter par 4s with Rocky River running through the holes over the road on the far northern side of the course. The layout is somewhat hilly like the 129m short uphill 9th which is near the clubhouse. Fees are $5

I doubt this course would rate above 1 on this website as it only offers basic golf facilities as opposed to 5 stars which is "golf at its absolute best".

Wirrabara is a small village of around 300 people about 20 minutes south of Melrose. Course access is from East Terrace.

Wirrabara has a real chance of being the only scrpaes course in the state with a rating of over 2. The design is incredible, and probably wont win any awards but is so, so much fun to play. The course stretches over a huge distance, and almost totally surrounds the town of Wirrabara. The two ends of the course are diverse with the early holes being on gently sloping terrain and quite dry, while the back nine is dominated by a creek that would have caught thousands of balls in its time.
A highlight for a course with low traffic is the way the holes are entwined, particularly towards the back where you cross fairways numerous occasions.
Its hard to highlight a couple of holes because it really is a great course, but probably the pick of the bunch is the par 4 6th. On the card it looks like a simple 292 metre par 4, but it is uphill and has a road crossing it right on a good driving distance for most. Laying up short of the road will mean a 140 metre shot over a fairway tree to a small scrape for your 2nd, or carry the road where you still have to deal with the tree. Another hole of note is the 13th, a short par 4, dog-leg to the right with the creek on the right hand edge the length of the hole. Should be very easy, but don’t dare hit the ball left in the creek.
It was in good condition when played, the rough was tough but fair, and it both rewards and challenges. A fabulous course, and no doubt the pick of the courses in the area.
