No even worth a half a star.

Use to be a reasonable course back in the day. I have played other courses in Brisbane that had just as bad flooding and they are well on their way back to their best.

Management must have something special going on here? Wheres all the donations, grants, etc going?

$60 for a round with a cart is a joke for this joint!!!

Stay away from here!!!

"Wooly Park" is looking a bit better each time we play there. After suffering substantial damage in the floods all 18 holes are back in play. The course is by no means difficult but offers some challenge to the beginner or social player. The back nine is the better of the two (as it sits right now, this used to be the front nine).

Now for the cons. The old layout still had some big walks between tees but this is rediculous now! To get to the 2nd tea you need to walk 300m! The course also doesn’t drain well wich means you get no value for good shots after the rain as they just plug.

The staff are pleasent enough and the bar is nearly back up to what it was before getting inundated in January. Great place for a beer though when you are done as you look over the Brisbane River. Also very cheap through the week, just pick your times as the Vets take an age to get around.

PROS

  • Great Value
  • Pleasent scenary
  • Some good holes on the back nine

Cons

  • Front nine still a bit of a bomb
  • Poor drainage - dont play after rain!

Played on 17th April and course was in terrible condition. Played in a group of three and we booked more than 2 weeks prior and were not told that 2 holes were out of play until AFTER we had been charged full price!!!
There was mud everywhere, bunkers were all out of play except for maybe 3, most of the fairways had some part maked as GUR and there were temporary greens which were rubbish.
Told pro shop about how unhappy we were only to be told by staff "I didn’t book your round, sorry". No offer of a discount for only being able to play 16 holes on a course that I could carve out of a swamp and do a better job.
I realise that the course was damaged by the January floods, but that was over 3 months ago and there is no reason why players could not be advised prior to paying $50.
Will never play there again and will also be telling as many people as possible to avoid this course at all costs. Not even worth the half star I had to give it

Played this coures on 17/04 and the only way to describe it is woeful!!
My mates and I can understand that the course is recovering from the floods still but that doesn’t excuse the staff from pointing out a few small things when the round is booked.
3 of us played and travelled from Beenleigh, Indooroopilly and Wynnum. The round was booked 2 weeks prior. Upon arrival we were told that 2 holes were out of play and that there was 1 temporary hole, which was 95m and cut from the same grass as my backyard. There was no mention of the temporary green or the condition of the bunkers.
For the 3 of us to play with 2 carts it came to just shy of $150 despite the fact that the course was not playable in its entirity.
Absolutely blown away and when we made mention of our disgust and all that the male staff member in the pro shop just said that he didn’t make the booking and offered for us to play the 1st again. Why the hell would we have wanted to do that?? All I wanted to do was drive away and never return.
Having booked rounds through this website before and from being a member of another course I know that most places advise palyers of any concerns with the round and some have even called me the morning of the round and advised that due to rain carts aren’t available etc. Doesn’t seem like a hard thing to mention some small but significant things when booking a round and stil charging full price, which on a good day would probably have been too much!!!
Whilst I do hope that the course recovers completely from the floods I can promise that my mates and I won’t be back and that the social grounp I play in cancells the booking for there.
Certainly a drive i don’t ever intend on having again!!!
Can’t even rate this 1 star but won’t let me contiue without it!

Where to start…terrible course, terrible and incompetent management and pro shop staff are useless. Waited on the tee for 20 mins just to tee off then first hole took 20 mins, no organisation at all for a hefty green fee. Paid $25 plus $35 for cart. $60 is too much for this place especially for a filthy cart aswell.

I agreeing with Flecthera’s last comment aswell…the grumpy members belting balls at you and all over the place.

I remember playing this course about 5 or so year back and it seemed to be a lot better than now, all round disappointment to be back there and won’t be coming again.

Nothing good come from my round!

Definitely a don’t bother course. Rude members, incompetent proshop staff. 40min delay on tee time and players hitting onto you mid fairway in full view. 4 holes took 90 min

Played the other week, nice little course and not very busy which was great. Some great tough holes and greens were good for a budget course. Only bad part was the rude young guy working in the pro shop. Looked like he didn’t want to be there and was very sort with us. Other than that we had a good day.

This course is in fantastic condition, very green and not too crowded. A few long patches to the sides but guess you can’t stop grass growing with all the rain. We’ve played about three times in the last two months and the best thing is enjoying a drink on the patio, overlooking the Bris River. Totally recommend WP.

Great course and lots of fun. It is a bit up and down so if you’re walking be prepared for some tuff little hills. Glad they’ve put in the new tenth as the old one was a joke. The fairways are tight so you’ve got to be careful when walking around so as not to get hit from stray balls. Currently the greens are in good nick and better than other courses around Brisbane.

Wolston has just been upgraded to a par 67 course. Its now playing more than 5000 metres.

The first hole has now been made to a par 4 instead of a long par 3.

There is also a new 10th par 3 replace the useless temporary hole that they had going for a while.

There is also now a full time secretary and the course member numbers are on the rise.

Go down and try the course yourself. Its short yet tricky!!!

This is the epitome of goat track. Short, boring, poorly kept. When you’re on about the 5th which backs onto Gailes you think to yourself, what am I doing here. Have recently had a hit at Jindalee (also 1 star), I found that to be better.

One hole you have to hit over the road, so you have to keep watching for traffic before you can hit. To get to the tenth from the 9th you actually have to walk the entire length of the tenth to get to the tee. The only good thing is the cheap price and the fact its not crowded.

I am a member of this cousre…paying only $300 a year as a student for a full 7 day membership (about $515 for a adult male) and i believe it is in great condition at the moment and is free from stuck up golfers…great atmosphere best value 4 money in Brisbane….cant go wrong

I play this course probably 2 times a month as it is closest course to my house except for Brookwater which 2 minutes down the road. The $22 in green fees is quite reasonable for the condition of the course.

Front 9 – My favourite hole is the 205m par 3 at the first. I tend to like to front 9 as I find it more forgiving and there are a few holes where you can just grip it and rip it. The 6th hole is great where you can consistantly rip it 300 plus thanks to the down hill lie.

Back 9 – Most of the holes are quite easy but if you shonk it left on a few you’ll be reaching for a new ball. There are four par 3’s to deal with which will put you to the test but are enjoyable.

Put it this way … At the moment, if I’m looking for a nice relaxing hit with a few beers on the weekend I would rather play Wolston than Gailes or Oxley. The fairways are in 6/10 condition if you hit them but the only bad thing are the greens. You can rip as much spin as you want on the ball but it aint going to stop. It is like playing on ice.

The only disapointing hole is the short par 3 8th, where a new green is being installed behind the temporary green. I find it to short for a SW and to long for a PW. I usually just grab the 3 iron and punch it up.

The staff at the club are very nice and make you feel welcome. If your keen for a nice easy hit, come down to Wolston. But like I said, it wont be everyones cup of tea. If you don’t play to your handicap you’ve had a shocker.

Wolston Park is holding up well considering the current water situation.

Having not played at the course for a while i was impressed by the condition and playability of the course. The greens were in excellent condition and considering the dry conditions, the fairways were fantastic.

It is probably the best value for money golf course in the brisbane region. The pro shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful and i won't be leaving it so long until my next game

Get a cart. Get a cart. Get a cart!

If you are a bad putter then come here because putts hit on line are no chance, poorly hit putts will often bouce in!

The walk between tees is ridiculous and a "one way" internal out of bounds is guaranteed to confuse you.

Sure the clubhouse is nice but who wants to sit around and look at the dirty old Brisbane river after walking an extra 20 kilometres than you should have!

Staff are very friendly, but this is a rundown (goat track) like someone had already pointed out, will not be heading off their to quickly again.

I can't say I enjoyed either of the two rounds, I have played here (one 6 months ago and the other about a week ago). I recognise the course is shorter than I normally play with some challenging Par 3s, but it is also drier, dustier and something of a goat track. I certainly won't walk it again on a warm/hot day.

That said, the opening hole is a great way to open a round, and the clubhouse is very well located (great views with ale in one hand after the round).

That said I don't see myself returning there in the near or mid-term future.

Without a doubt the friendliest club in the Brisbane area. I really enjoyed the layout and the challenge it offered me. The new River Hole is a good opening hole and the finishing holes can make or break your round.

Fantastic clubhouse overlooking the Brisbane River, a great place to relax after the round.

I would reccommend any one to try it out, the green fees are value for money.

Give it a go.

This is a course that in a way overates itself. There is no way I would play this course walking. Very difficult and confusing to find some tee's, Very Dry and dusty and sloping dramaticaly on the front nine. In saying that Itwas challenging as a intermediate player with a few of the par three's over O.B and a par 4 over a road.

I rate the course a 4/10 and thats mainly for the layout and for the dryness.

Friendliest staff I have come across, and no lack of drinks on your round.

If you could benefit from a short game improvement give them a call and book in tee time.

But I would have to say that it was a one off for me!

Underated course in the Brisbane region. One of the friendliest I have visited with probably the best clubhouse position in the area. The course condition is improving quickly and if the remaing couch greens are replaced that will help a lot. Tight and short however some of the walks between holes with the current layout are excessive. Great for a casual game of golf and very accessible.

Wolly Park is the place I go when I can almost be guaranteed a game under 3.5 hours.

Its a tricky Par 65 with plenty of par 3's to come unstuck.

Although a little dangerous at times with some tight fairways I have never seen anyone hit by a ball.

Recently the clubhouse zone was takne by a Govt Dept and re-located to a far more picturesque spot overlooking the river. A great spot for a cleansing ale after the game.
