An interesting layout, with water in play quite a bit. The greens had been cored and sanded only a couple of days before we arrived, but were still good, albeit a little slow. The fairways were in good condition and the whole course builds nicely. The club members were friendly and comps are easy to enter if you want to. Comp fees for visitors are $30 (including green fees) so reasonable value for money. The wind determines how hard or easy it can play, if you get a Southerly then the first four holes are straight into it and you will have done well to get through only 1 or 2 shots down. The par threes are interesting, with perhaps the best being the 12th, a short hole but with accuracy at a premium. Overall a good course that makes you think about where to put the ball. An easy course to walk, although a lot of the members seem to use carts.

Played this delightful course on the weekend. They’ve had some flooding recently so there are patches on the fairway where the grass has died due to being underwater for a decent period of time.

Greens were in superb nic. Relatively large greens and well manicured [if a little hard] Very few bunkers.

Members were friendly and they have a great club house.

I found the real challenge for a high handicapper like myself was trying to work out the wind. On this course the wind plays a major part in course management.

I would play this course again next time I am down this way. Although a little long its a comfortable walk. No need for a cart.

Played yamba after several months away. 3rd rnd of club champs and the place is in as close to the best nick that ive ever seen it. Like many others in that its in for a tight time financially for the next while, but with members paying around 225 a year for subs this place is amazing value for money.

Yer a good course. It has a beautiful feel about the place. In summer is the best time to play this course when it is a little dryer and the greens a true.

Played Yamba on the Australia Day weekend. Although the course had been recently deluged with rain it had held up quite well. There was a bit of casual water around & was soft under foot but the excellent condition of the greens & the many challenges this golf course springs at you makes it one worth playing. Mid priced course which does give you the opportunity to reward yourself with the occassional birdie on the par 5’s.

Scenic, with lush well-grassed fairways, lovely greens, the front 9 runs near the ocean and is basically a links course, while the back 9 is cut through Melaleuca forests. When the wind blows the course is tough, but on a still day a good player can hit all Par 5’s in 2 and just play a Wedge to most of the par 4’s.

Play this course a lot, sad to say it’s definately getting easier, the holes are being shortened and the rough trimmed, I assume by the older local members who like their golf easy. Sad really as it is ideally situated right on the beach in the middle of a growing town, if the members keep making it easier it’ll only be fun to play in a 40 knott southerly!

Well worth a round and much higher than it’s current rating here. Guaranteed to see kangaroos and have an enjoyable time.

A lot of work has gone on over the last few years to this course and it is now paying off.

Around half the greens have been re-built and have been very creatively shaped.

All the greens are quite large and run true. Most are also well bunkered.

The fairways are lush due to the reclaimed water from the sewerage works next door and pumped out over the fairways.

Holes 1-4 are classic golf holes with a mix of par 3, 4 and 5’s, especially if a Southerly is blowing.

The 2nd also gives and interesting view into the Aborigional community next door with a few burnt down houses/cars and the occasional dog fight to distract the curious golfer.

The rest of the course is set amongst paperbark trees, bushland and small pockets of man made rainforest, with many Kangaroos on each fairway.

One thing I liked was a few of the holes you cant see any other fairways or golfers, giving you a feeling of seclusion.

The toughest hole is the 16th, a 365m par 4. A slight dogleg right off the Tee presents itself as looking not too difficult, but in the landing zone, paperbark trees line both edges of the fairway which would only be 25m wide. A ball landing in these trees (if found) can only be chipped out, sometimes backwards 30m.

If you do find the fairway on the turn, 160 odd m’s still remain down the narrow alley to the green, which has undulations galore and is protected by bunkers.

The Clubhouse is big with 50 odd pokies, TAB, keno and a well stocked Pro shop, good food to with friendly members.

All round a very interesting course in more ways than one and well worth a visit.

I played this course on a mid-summer afternoon about a month back and it was absolutely sensational. The staff there are relaxed, it was a fairly cheap round and driving the course with a stubbie in your hand whilst the kangaroos laze around is what it's all about. I can't sing the praises of the course itself enough, some tricky water placements on 8, 5 amongst others, tree lined fairways, plenty of doglegs and all round sensational course.

Get the courtesy bus after your round to take you up the Pacific Hotel over looking Yamba's main beach, and kick on with a few more cans.

I played Yamba several years ago, and it is an enjoyable seaside town course, resplendent with resident kangaroos and the casual air of a resort course.

Quite flat but challenging nonetheless, worthy of a round if you're holidaying in town.
