i injoy this short little atractive course. it offers a few challenges but not alot. The greens are very nice with a few 2 teird greens. The highlight of the round has got to be the par 3 8th.

An enjoyable 9 holes, very user freindly for emerging golfers. Stayed and played each course over 3 days with 19 other guys, this was our arvo warm-up on arrival, $5.00 each wining group tackes all in a 4 man ambrose, great fun before heading to the club house.

This is what an executive course should be like - short but still offering a bit of challenge. While many golfers scoff at the mere thought of playing it, even low markers can be brought to their knees if they don't treat it with a little respect. It opens with a short par 4 that really tests your short game with the approach. The 4th hole is the highlight - it's only about 100m long, but I would rank it as one of the best short holes in the country. Hit the green and you're fine, but miss it and get ready to write a 5 or 6 on your card. I've seen single-figure players, with a wedge in hand, tremble at the knees on the tee on this hole, as they recall some disaster on a previous visit. Overall, it's no championship course, but it was never meant to be one. Before you scoff at it, try and shoot par around here. Then you might change your views.

The Golf Club clearly doesn't spend a lot of time keeping the Executive Course up. A coulpe of times I've had a round booked on the Lake course only to have to play nine on this course and nine on the Lake.

It's quite short - just one par 5 and it's not very long, with more than the regulation 2 par threes. It's not unenjoyable, but when you are seeking quality golf this patr lets you down. Better suited to the learner or someone who doesn't want to be hurried in the field on the main courses.

The layout is quite attractive. The short second sees you hit across a small valley to a two tiered green with a quite difficult slope. The third is a par 4 dog leg left with a dam to catch those who think they're Tiger Woods off the tee and try to beat the dogleg.

The greens are quite large and with plenty of slope to trick you. They are not quite of the same quality in trueness as the other courses at Yarra, however. In general the fairway quality is not there either, and the "first cut" as the Yanks call it is generally not well kept.

I'd prefer to avoid it but if you're stuck with it because the Murray or Lake are unavailable then things could be worse.
