May 6th 2010 Magnificent River Murray Forest setting and an interesting challenging layout.
Considering the growing season we have had this year the course and greens should have been in better condition though would rate as good.

Great course, unbelievably good condition given I played in mid February. Fairways the equal to any course I have played, fantastic layout and a good test of your game.

Very good course. The greens are huge but true. The fairways always give a good lie. The green surrounds would be the equal of any course in Australia.

The setting through the rivergums and beside the Murray can be quite a distraction. Be aware that the 9th hole finishes miles from the clubhouse so take enough drinks with you for 18 holes.

Played this course on a very hot day in December. Was very impressed. Greens a little fluffy, not quick but were true. Fairways had recently been cored but were pretty good. The course offers some interesting holes, not overly long but plenty of challenges. Alot of the water hazards were dry which was a shame as I’d imagine in the winter they would offer an additional challenge.

Well worth a game.

i have played this course a few times now… i always injoy the layout and the surrounds.this course is set on the murray river. it has very nice greens and great fairways. over all a very very good course

Played this course last week Nov 2007 and I must say that it is one of the most beautifully grassed and lush courses you could hope to play. Interstingly though the dams are all empty.

I would recommend this course to anyone and whilst it is pretty rugged off the fairways I loved the experience.

Stayed on course for a 3-day boys golfing holiday, 20 of us and they looked after us extremely well. Good to have 3 days of golf and forget about the car.

The Murray course is just so enjoyable at all skill levels, its meandering layout adds to the enjoyment. The grass coverage was very good, greens a bit on the slow side for me but reasonably true.

From memory the pro-shop staff have improved too.

This really is a beautiful piece of golfing heaven, carved out of a majestic redgum forrest and meandering around countless little creeks and billabongs. On my first visit, I was overawed by the breathtaking beauty of the place and was full of praise for the course. But having played it many times since, it's many flaws have revealed themselves. Don't get me wrong, most of the course is terrific. It's just that there a few small very bad design errors. First is the dreadful slab-sided mounds bordering the 6th and 9th fairways. There is not even a hint of attempting to blend these in with the landscape, and the one on the left of the 9th is simply in the wrong place, and just needlessly eliminates a driving option to the left. Many of the fairways have a sloping crown to them, so that a well struck drive to the centre of the fairway can just bound off into the trees. The 17th is a great short hole, but it is impossible to know how far forward or back the pin is from the tee, so it's just a hit-and-miss affair. But the worst design feature would have to be the blind water hazard on the left of the 16th fairway. With any tee shot going left, you have no idea whether your ball is lost in the grass or gone in the hazard, let alone a point of entry. If you can't see your ball go in, you have to treat it as a lost ball according to the rules of golf. Really, there's no other words for it than shoddy design work. To sum up, the course is good, but it could have been a lot better.

Can't help but love this place. The course has such great character. It tempts you and challenges and all the while you can't hlep but be excited by the challenge. There are a couple of weaker holes (2nd & 17th) but the weaker holes are certainly made up for with some geniunely great golf holes which require thinking, strategy and all seem to have a life of their own. The atmosphere of the great gums surrounding the fairways is brilliant and the no matter how you're playing you can't help but get swept along. Only critisism is that they have covered up views of the river along the brilliant par-5, 5th. Play and enjoy.

This is one of the most enjoyable courses I've ever played, and by last count that's about 150 courses around the world.

The design is superb, with a gentle but lengthy par 4 start, to a testing but not impossible par 3, and then properly in amongst the rivergums, culverts, billabongs and accompanying wildlife for the next fourteen holes. The par 5 fifth along the river is well-documented, but there are par 4s leading to and away from the river than spellbound in their magnificent use of the landscape.

The par 5 ninth is one of the best holes around I think. At 200m from the tee the fairway narrows as it passes through a chute of gums that rise out of shallow billabongs on either side. You need to take this on if you want to reach the green in two. If you lay short of these you still have a testy second to get close enough to have a crack at the elevated green. You have to see this hole to believe it, and I think it is at it's best in the early morning or late afternoon as the shadows cast across the fairway. You can't help thinking of Banjo's swagman as you play some of these holes.

The beauty of the setting is matched by the difficulty of the golfing challenge. Most holes require length and accuracy, and the club ensures it's greens are well-maintained on the number one course. They are undulating and often large enough to give up many three putts.

Expect to score well only if your game is spot on. There are no real gimme holes on this course.

I could play it over and over again.
