Played it not very long ago and one of my most enjoyable rounds ever. Fairways were in excellent condition, greens were slick as which I enjoy and the whole layout just works really well.
Guy in the pro shop was a bit full on, talking to us like we were 5 years old regarding carts etc. but apart from him I would recommend this course above almost any other in SA. Will be putting in a regular round there from now on without doubt.

what a gem that’s what i’m thinking of this course at the moment, its a great layout presenting a par 72 course with great bunker and water hazard placements, the first 9 is the easiest of the two,the for this nine is placement is key for first timers.i managed a score of 42 on the first 9.the second gets ya from the get go with challenging holes,be aware of these holes (10 and 11) they make you think the distance from the tee to the corners of the fairways are accurate but they are eye catching, the hazards catch you out sooner than the eye will tell you from the tee.after these it plays like the front nine.

my overall view on the course:putting it short,a players course and a par 5 heaven for big hitters except for hole 10 which is separated into 2 fairways.

PROS

  • fairways and greens in top condition
  • wide fairways and large greens

Cons

  • back 9 is hilly ride on cart is recommended

what a golf course,i play over in perth at kennedy bay often i thought i had played the best of link golf in oz until fleurieu.golf course was not in the best condition but the layout of this place is unlike any thing i have played.

as with most link driver was only needed 3 times and the 2 iron is your go to club of the tee due to the extreme run on the fairways.

i played with a local who guided me through and even playing off a low mark of two i still shot 80 and hit it great.

its a shame the local owner does not realise what he owns here as this place could be the best course in south oz if some money and advertising got pumped into the place.although paying 30 bucks to play a world class course maybe he is on to something.

will be back for sure

PROS

  • unique test of golf
  • best layout in south oz

Cons

  • patchy greens
  • distance markers from 150 in were not there
  • owner not knowing anything about golf

A great course south of Adelaide that offers a good mix of water hazards, bunkers and rough to test all golfers. You know you are in a special place when fog holds up the early hitters on a day forecast to be over 30 degrees. That meant that the views from the first tee were missed by us, but given the hangover one of us was dealing with, it may have been lost anyway.
The fairways and greens were in terrific condition when played meaning the course was a delight to play on. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes snake their way around a series of lakes meaning that you can;t be too overzealous with your hitting. It’s a pleasing test of accuracy with a range of clubs early in your round. The 6th being another good hole with a few options of the tee, but which will reward those willing to try and hit long.
The best of the par 3’s is probably the 12th, over 170 metres and with bunkers and water in play; a real test.
Fleurieu is definately one of the best courses we’ve played and well worth the short journey south.

I was very impressed with this course. It was a refreshing change to play on a public course that wasnt about how long you can bomb it off the tee. The requirement to actually work the hole out and lay up and play long approach shots was a great feature. The only down side is old S.A. has been a little dry of late and the fairways were a little dry and hard.

A very challenging course with great facilities. Still a relatively young course with a links layout , can only get better with time. Fantastic views (especially from the 11th tee block) with lots of water and bunkering, but can be brutal on scoring with wayward tee shots or when the winds get up. Big greens but more than enough water to cope. Long course from the back markers and higher handicappers pack a few extra balls in the bag, but well worth the drive less than an hour from Adelaide CBD using the new expressway.

Fleurieu Golf Course is a very good course and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I played it last weekend and having never played there before, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The course is a links style course but the rough is not as tough as other links style courses that I have played. Being a high handicapper, I liked the layout and it suited my game. The wind made it tough at times but that’s what a links style course is about I suppose. Well worth the drive down to Mt Compass to play.

this is a favourite, my golf buddys and i love this place, worth the 1hr drive south the greens are generally ok when we play refreshing to play a course where driver of the tee is not mandatory . The layout is challenging yet fair, not so enjoyable for high handicappers when it’s windy.

greens were bumpy and very patchy, rough extremely long, layout bizarre (courses that have out of bounds in the middle of the course are just poorly designed). total disappointment.

This course is a gem. As soon as you get on the elevated first tee and see the front 9 layed out before you, you know no matter how you play, it's going too be a great day. With plenty of water, bunkers, thick deep rough, big greens and lush faiways, it is a fantastic course to play. The front 9 is very flat, but peril is everywhere. The back 9 has some gentle hills, nothing too difficult. Without doubt, the eigth hole sums up the course. A 362m par 4, when you are on the tee, all you see is water, a huge faiway bunker and about 10m of fairway. It feels like no matter what you do, you will end up in trouble. Do you belt a driver straight over the water, aim right of the fairway bunker with a wood, or go for that green stuff with a mid iron? Just about every hole requires thought. No walking up and belting a driver here. Infact, I didn't use the driver all day, and still manged to shoot my best score ever. Fleurieu Golf Course is a real thinking golfers course. Play it today.
