The 3rd and 8th hole on the red nine should be torn up. They are just silly. The course meanders without meaning and is just plain boring. The greens are terrible. The price is ridiculous.

After reading the reviews on here I was a bit hesitant when I was invited by a member to play on the members course. Boy I’m glad I didn’t listen to the comments made here. This is definately the closest to a resort style course in terms of course design and layout then any other course in inner Brisbane. Maybe they got the course names mixed up and were commenting on the East Course? In that case I would agree them about the East Course, but more on that later.

The front 9 (Red Course) is still under renovations but some of the finished holes are fantastic and the condition of the fairways was exceptional. As mentioned in an earlier review they definately felt like high quality velvet. Hole 9 really is a cracker and you can definately go for it from there being waterways and a lake to cross!

As for the back 9 (Gold Course) it proved even more challenging with quite a number of fairway bunkers, as the course has already been finished with renovations.

The clubhouse and its staff were exceptionally friendly but yes, being a young person I did feel a little out of place when most of the people I encountered were probably retired. It definately has that feel. Nonetheless after playing here I am seriously considering becoming a permanent member, as living in the city it definately is the closest high quality course for inner city residents.

Might I add that two weeks later I played on the Public Green/Blue teas, and it was quite a different story. While some of the holes were very enjoyable and challening the condition is definately something to wonder about. How can the member’s course be of such a higher standard then the public course? Yes I know the answer might seem obvious as it is just the public course, but surely it’s not an entirely different team of grounds people looking after it?

The greens were very patchy, the fairway’s while good and soft really had no definatition to where the rough and fairway started. It just faded into dirt and patchyness. Half the tees were brown (despite all the recent rain) and it really just felt like a cheap suburban course.

I seriously cant wait to go back to the members course though! Highly recommended! (Especially once renovations are finished in a few months)

PROS

  • Hole 9!
  • Cheap Drinks and Excellent Service
  • Close to City for such a great course / club

Cons

  • Signage was very bad
  • No Course Map on the Layout or on where to go

The members course at indrops is definately in the best few courses in Brisbane. Very well kept, great fairways/greens. A few reviews have found the greens inconsistent. They always seem to be fairly consistent when I have played and super quick.

The course is undergoing a few upgrade at the moment. The 3 new holes on the gold nine are fantastic.

Always enjoy a round, but never pay full price which on the website is an incredible $150 without cart (definately not worth that).

After Playing the Blue and Gen Nines in December 2007, I was left wondering why the green Fees are high, The greens are patchy and inconsistent in speed and the Practice greens were different agin, The Course is stunning, it goes along the river and it is very peaceful, the Fairways and rough are kept well and there is plenty of variety testing all levels of golfer. The staff were friendly. So overall a good course but a bit overpriced.

I endorse the comments from Fitness. The course needs some further repair. The greens are inconsistent, patchy and not up to scratch. However in my 20 years of golf I have never witnessed such good hospitality, I take my hat off to the young waiter that was so delighted with our order he almost ate the bloody meal. Great service.

My Tip for other golfers who venture onto this layout;

Insist on enjoying yourself

Be a people person

Work to live not live to work

Celebrate Colombus Day

I better go , Ive starched my sock !!

Well as usual early start, nice weather, nice clubhouse, and nice club pro, actually gave me some usefull tips for the greens{Bermuda 328}.

The 1st hole is probably the best hole on the course, very scenic water on the right very nice.Thats all the nice words out of the way, from then on,becomes a little frustrating and down right ridiculous,no simple directions to the next hole, where most of the 18 were the same, maybe a compass would be more usefull from the pro than green tips. When you do make it to the green, well it was like trying to putt on a patchwork quilt that somebody had pissed on,most greens needed lots of work, and distance markers non existent making the day even more a migraine.Definitely wouldnt play there till somebody does some serious work on many holes.

Finall if you do play while the course is construcion, bring some Panadol,Compass,a spirit level and some patience.

Played Indooroopilly course recently. At the moment social players are playing the members only West course and members are playing the East course due to course renovations.

Whilst some of the holes are brilliant, whilst renovations are happening the course is very average, with poor signage and very poor conditioning on many fairways and greens on temporary holes, The distance marking is non existant except on the tee for manyt holes. The cost is much cheaper so it is offset somewhat. The first few holes were great as they are the original holes and in great condition, but the temporary holes are average and the course is playing as a Par 69.

The course hopefully will be brilliant after the renovations as Ross Watson is in charge, but I would advise St Lucia is the better course at this point for social players, and I would definitely advise that Oxley, Gailes, Keperra, Mcleod, Nudgee and Virginia are much better at the price.

Play there after renovations are completed.

One of the better members courses in Brisbane. 4 star for sure, no more than that though!

a very good front 9. some very good holes. the back 9 is not as good. the 18th hole, for all appearances a weak short par 4, always seems to hold something up its sleeve. how anout that first hole! elite clubhouse, members and feel. probably a better course than rq.

I have been a member of indooroopilly for the past five or six years now and I believe it is one of if not the best golf course in brisbane.

It is a challenging course and the fairways at the moment are in the best condition I have seen them in for a long time, and no where else in brisbane can you get a 36 holf golf course and have such a peaceful setting.

I would reccomomend anyone who is considering joining to go for it because it's well worth the money.

I played the Indooroopilly West course not that long ago and think that it is as good as any resort course I have played.

The front nine has plenty of elevated tees, undulating fairways and large greens.

The back nine flanks the Brisbane river, the third and fourth are newly renovated holes which stand out from the rest of the nine.

Every hole really is different, once you get away from the club house you wouldn't know you are so close to the city. There is no traffic noise as the course is surrounded by the river.

I will definitely play there again and would recommend it to everyone else.
