We played here yesterday as a precursor to our social club event next week, and really enjoyed the layout and the golf in general. It was a bit slow (5 1/2 hours) but it was the group in front of us that was the problem. We had to play off the whites which shortened the course especially the par 5’s which were reached in two most times!! The index had us a little stumped as the harder holes by index seemed to play relatively easier then some others (according to us anyway)

The fairways were in great knick, and the greens were true and slick, while still rewarding a well struck approach. All in all a rewarding day out and very cheap. Bring on the Carl Spackler Invitational, I’m ready to win and the boys will enjoy this course, as it suits all golfers.

I played here today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I played from the blues and it was a real test and a course that you have to think on. It starts off with an easy par 4 but it doesnt take long to get tougher. The Par 5’s are the best with all but 1 true par 5’s where you need to think and their length makes them unreachable in 2. All but 1 of the par 3’s require a water carry which always sorts out the players that can carry the ball rather then those that bump and run long irons. The greens are large and very undulating. I think I had one straight putt all day. The fairways were in good nick considering all of the rain and the greens held well and ran true. It is a thinkers course which beats most of the courses around the area which involve bombing a driver and having a 9 or wedge to most of the par 4’s. I also played holes 19-27 which were much easier and are perfect for the learning golfer. These fairways and greens were also of a good standard. If you want a good test though I highly recommend the first 18 holes to anyone. It was only $30 whcih is more than reasonable for what you get. I will be back.

Played with a social club today. Day was beautiful and the course was magic. Greens are fast, difficult to read and unforgiving and will truely test your golf. Great value.

Tough course. Very long and unforgiving in some places. 3 out of 4 par 3’s are over water and the one that isn’t is long. Off the back plates it is a good test of golf and one of the toughest in the west.

Fairways are in good nick as are the greens which do provide some interesting contours. Good value with a cart and even better value in the thursday open comp.

Best hole is the Par 3 9th which boasts a full water carry. Many a ball has found the water there (including mine).

I played on saturday and its very tough in winter around the greens. $30.00 in the comp on saturday is reasonable and i have to say the pro shop is improving. Started at 10.50 ish and walked in at 4.45 – wasn’;t impressed as to why it took so long to play 18 hours, although when you hear that someone had a 23 on a par 3 ina stroke round you realise why. won’t be playing the medal again.

Played the medal day here on saturday morning, Easter long weekend, when rain was pouring down in Sydney City, Mulgoa was beautifully dry and cool with a little breeze. What a find! I had never heard of this place before. It ranks up there, I would say similar to Kogarah for features but much more tight and more water hazards and more undualted. Not flat at all.

Tight course where it is true that you need to think of shot placement from nearly every tee, especially playing from the back tees.

Greens are beautifuly undulating for the money you pay I expected flat greens and council-like features, but this place delivers the goods. The greens however were quite shabby and I’m hoping they are at the end of the season and by the looks of it, works had alreadyt commenced on some of the greens. Not the worst greens mind you, just need to be cored.

Overall, Im very impressed. Will be back for sure. It is only 40 minutes from CBD on a early saturday morning run.

we played here early, before the comp a few weeks back.

after some shennanigans in the pro shop, found holes 10-18 to be a great challenger, sadly, the original 9, 19-27 are awful.

no distance markers, short, one hole under construction, a stark comparison to the previous 9.

make sure you pay the additional $10 to play the good 18.

greens superb.

Good comeback by " THE GOLF PRO " at Glenmore. If you think the service is good there pat yourself on the back. I stand by my review of the back nine minefield and we will enjoy paying the extra for a challenging course and respectful staff.

our social club play glenmore regularly and i have to say are treated well the valley course 10-27 consists of the back 9 of the links and the old 9 of the original course which to be fair is not of the same standard this is reflected in the cost $29 as opposed to $38 for the full links course 1-18 on weekends a course which i beleive is 2nd to none in this area, there is a saying , you get what you pay for , so go and play camden lakeside pay $90 on the weekend but REMEMBER leave your trackpants at home

Where do I start ?

PRO SHOP - Our social club ventured to this course recently and were greeted by the most uptight & rude "head pro" (as he kept repeating). Being a rainy day he informed me that I couldnt wear those "tracksuit pants" . This would be fair enough if they were tracksuit pants but they were not ! They were wet weather pants bought from Drummond golf only last week.He wouldnt budge and told me I would have to buy one of their rain suits ($60) They only had XXL and were way too big with the bottoms dragging on the ground, he saw this and with a smile said "make sure you keep them on all round"

Suffice to say I was not in the right frame of mind to play a good round of golf but thought forget about him and just enjoy the day as the sun had come out.

GOLF COURSE - We are a long running social club which plays all number of courses and this would rate as one of the most overated courses we play(10th to 27th). Social clubs start off the 10th, with the first couple of holes in good condition and good variety. The same cant be said for the next holes 13th, 14th 15th.

Good to see some water to contend with around this nine holes and some well placed bunkers in good condition.

18th hole is a tricky little par 3 uphill.

Have to say the half way shop is a very good pit stop with good variety of tucker.

NOW, The next nine holes (19th to 27th) Firstly the positives...THERE ARE NONE !! No creativity, no grass, no distance markers, no effort.We all know why... its only for the social players ! Who of course pay their money to play a good 18 holes. These holes should not be played on so SOCIAL PLAYERS BEWARE. Your better off going somewhere of better quality where once your hard earned money is paid you get a consistant state of play. I suggest Camden Lakeside, Riverside Oaks and even Massey Park and North Ryde rank as a better experience than this place. This tirade sounds harsh but they bring it on themselves with an arrogant Pro and poor service to social players (You shouldnt need to be a member to be treated equally if you have paid your $).

Camden Lakeside here we come !

Payed this course from the plates and was very impressed.You had to think your way around not just blaze driver on each hole. (4's & 5's) The greens were super, although some spot on greens could cause nightmares. Fairways, greens even hazards were perfectly maintained.

Not sure about being the best in the west just yet but most certainly has the potential.

The greens were so pure ie:Fast, no bouncing. Pick your spot, stoke it over the spot & bang it was in.

Over all a very good track.

Open Comps every thursday at a cheap price. Great quality course. When played from the back markers it is a true test of golf. About 5 mins from the M4 - near Penrith, definately the best in the west.

I played this course yesterday and to me, it compares very favourably with Camden Lakeside and Macquarie Links but longer.

The back tees were in play (last Thurs. of each month) and for $15...the best value anywhere bar none.

Apart from the 1st which is soft, all the other holes with their doglegs and water hazards are just great. Less than 1 hour from Sydney, you MUST get there.

If they ever get the course in good conditon this will be a good course, the new 9 holes are much better than the old ones and if they bring the rest of the course up to par it will be well worth the drive.

Don't be fooled by the location of this golf course. And despite the effects of past dry seasons, this is a very good course. It has something for every golfer!

Fairways are spacious, especially good for those who like to tee off with a driver on every par 4 or 5 they come across. The length of the course will ensure you'll get a descent workout despite the overall flatness of it all.

A word of warning though, especially when playing during the hotter months. Don't be tempted to want to retrieve your ball (however expensive) if you've hit it deep into the marsh containing bushes. There may be a red-belly black snake or similar waiting for you!

I found playing on windier days made it less straight forward and at times more enjoyable.

This golf course is truly worth a look at. It's got a good mixture of challenging holes and some par 3's require accuracy. It's not Huntingdale, but it will do for most players just wanting to get out there.

I am not a particularly seasoned golfer, not having played a lot of exceptional courses, however I can say that this course is good and getting better.

If you had of asked me a year ago I could have come up with a list cons for Glenmore, but today, there are few, and they are far outweighed by the pros.

Glenmore is a 27 hole course, with the main 18 being a par 72 links design, with a rating a little higher, and can be very challenging, especially from the blue markers.

As mentioned in previous reviews about Glenmore, it has some very long, tough par 5's. This is especially true with the 4th and the 6th holes.

Most of the fairways are fairly forgiving, but this course comes into it's own around the greens, most of which don't have a lot of spare real estate around them.

I do also agree with previous reviews, that the back nine is somewhat up and back again, but it is challenging enough to forget this.

Glenmore is set in a valley, about 5 mins south of Penrith and the setting is quite spectacular.

I have played a few courses both in Sydney and throughout New South Wales, but I don't think I have felt as comfortable playing any of them as I do playing Glenmore. Even when I play bad golf, which is more often then not, unfortunately, I still enjoy the walk around Glenmore. And for full membership of $675 and weekday of $440 (which is what I have), without a joining fee at present, it can't be beat for value.

With the ongoing improvements, including work on bunkers, drainage and the greens, this course is set to become exceptional.

Very much worth a round and once you've been here you might even want to stay, if you like a bit of a challenge.

Readers should be aware that this is a winter course review, and my opinion may be different in other weather conditions.

Nevertheless, the condition of the fairways at the moment takes a full ball away from the course rating. The grass cover was thin at best, and soggy in places where cart traffic seems to have taken it's toll.

Design-wise, this course has aspirations to belonging on the top shelf. The front nine in particular is links style, with humps and hollows and fairway bunkers featuring strongly. The par 5's on the front nine are very strong, at 530m plus other off-fairway challenges, but the back nine 5's are weak.

Thankfully, they have eliminated the hazard in front of the 4th green, making it a much fairer hole (its not an 'island' green any more) but the 9th green still has a camel's hump in the middle and the 14th still has a blind hazard at the 230m mark. There is also a sense of 'up and back' about the back nine that might irritate those who like variety.

Having said all that, the greens were very good and the bunkers beautifully maintained.

This course should be better than it is at present. Wait until someone tells you that it's in good condition, then it will be the best round for under $30 in Sydney.

As a member I might be biased but I believe with continued improvment in our courses condition in recent times this course could slip into the top 100 in Aus some time in the future.

From the moment you step into the historic proshop - a converted barn which must be about 150 years old you sense you are playing somewhere special.

The view over the 1st and second holes at any time of the day stirs your senses.

The first is an easy enough a short par 4 uphill to an open green.

The second is a well designed hole with a slight dogleg to the left around a overhanging gumtree and a left to right cambered fairway framed by three bunkers on the left and a huge bunker on the right. The second shot must avoid water on the right and a brook running from beyond the green. A pretty hole.

Thats enough information to wet your appetite.

Glenmore has open days on Thursday with TV's & Video's as prizes on on Thursay each month.

Glenmore has an ACR of 74 which suggests the difficulty here, but a game off the more forward tee's shouldn't provide too many worries for an 18 marker.

All I all, I'm proud to be a member here and always get favourable reviews from visiting players.

Most of the holes run back & forth in the same direction, on what is a poorly routed, poorly designed course by Mr Hak Kil Lee.

The greens have couch & paspalm storks all over them which not only makes putting a lottery, but if your approach shot pitches on one of these the ball will unfairly bounce over the back compared to the rest of the green that palys quite soft. All the greens seem to have this problem.

There are some challenging holes, although the course for the most part is quite open, so if you don't mind poor conditioning you may enjoy yourself.

Be careful of the hidden water hazards on the back.

Fairly open, but with more mounds than you can poke a stick at. A couple of the par 5's are long & quite difficult if you're not thinking.

From the Blue tees this course can be a real test especially on the back 9 where water comes into play unseen from the tee on a couple of holes namely 14, 16 and 17.

The front 9 begins meekly enough however the Par 5 4th (545m) requires a long iron lay-up and then a precise 3rd shot to a green surrounded by a hazard.

The par 5 6th is a monster (560m) which generally plays into a cross headwind. The green is long and narrow requiring an accurate 3rd shot.

The Par 3 9th (174m) requires a tee shot that needs to carry the large lake in front of the green.

The back 9 has many dog-leg holes where accuracy from the tee is essential, particularly the Par 4 14th (407m) where a long mid iron is required for your 2nd shot.

The Par 3 18th is a great finishing hole as it is uphill and over a large pond.

The greens have improved markedly over the last couple of months and are now getting back to the glassy greens that prevailed when the new "Links" course opened several years ago.
