Gold Coast Country Club

Gold Coast, QLD | User Rating: Rate-3 (3.0) | Add A Review

Located just 15 minutes north of Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast Country Club offers one of the best layouts found on the Gold Coast. The front nine is a long and difficult experience from the championship tees while the back nine, although shorter, has water on EVERY hole. The contrast in design features combined with a picturesque setting makes playing this young course an opportunity not to be missed.

The course is a true championship venue having hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying School and the prestigious QLD PGA Championship from 1995 to 2002. Past champions of this event include Greg Norman, Ian Baker Finch and Peter Senior.

In addition to the championship golf course, the Gold Coast Country Club also offers a host of other golf related facilities within the venue. These additional facilities include a driving range, practice putting green, and a practice chipping green. The Club also offers a modern clubhouse, fully licensed bar, bistro and fully equipped Proshop.

The Gold Coast Country Club caters for both its growing membership base and also the social golfer. Consisting of 18 challenging holes, the course provides a test to even the best of players.

My group of 8 played 14th June and found the course a challenge and he design very good. Some great holes and the 18th a good finishing hole. The course was a bit wet and muddy in places but so were many of the other courses we played due to the weather. Staff very helpful. For value for money we would recommend it and we enjoyed the experience. what you pay

The people we met, members and staff were friendly and welcoming but the course was a huge disappointment. Obviously suffers from poor drainage and over a period of time. The course is full of large mud patches most of which are full of vehicle tracks some quite deep.

water over par 3’s is a great idea love it definnelty wouldnt pay anymore than $29 with a cart it simply isnt worth any more.

The golf was good, the round was reasonably priced at $29 with cart, we played with another couple who had paid $117 including two drinks which was a complete rip-off. The clubhouse was filthy, the food was very average and overpriced.

Great Value for money and quiet a challenging course. With just a little bit of extra TLC would be a great course. It has enormous potential.

The Gold Coast Country Club hasn’t changed much over the last five years. It still has the country style golf in the heart of the Gold Coast, so it’s named aptly. The service is of the standard expected and found in small towns, quality not quantity. This club and course is still worth the visit, and we will.

The layout of the course is quite challenging, not too many lengthy holes and some very reachable par 5s, however course management is the key. The day we played was after some persistent heavy rain on the Coast and the course was quite swampy.

The staff were friendly and helpful and all in all not a bad day out and great value through iseekgolf

18 holes priced at $20 and you have to remember that you get what you pay for. That said, I thought it was extremely good value and very testing. There is a lot of water on the course so take plenty of balls with you. At the price expect to have a slow round as it is very popular. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pro shop was well stocked.

As a local, GCCC is one of the nearer courses for me. But I prefer it over most others. As someone else said, it is a good test of golf without being too punishing. The staff have improved it greatly since I began playing it 3 years ago, it is a credit to them. I have never met the ill-mannered and elitist at GCCC and have always found impromptu playing partners to be pleasant people. The bunkers and greens are always in good condition and the (new layout) 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 18th in particular are great holes, with the 8th spectacular! The proshop and bar staff are also informal and helpful. GCCC is a good round of golf, and excellent value for money.

We played after a weekend of heavy rain. The bunkers were GUR and there was preferred lie right through to the green. The greens are good, fairways pretty average. The front nine is much more interesting than the back.

Great value, tricky little course, in fairly good nick.
First nine are full of hazards and the back nine the driver need to be on fire.

I booked this special $29 round through iseekgolf.com and was pleasently suprised by the layout and condition of the course. The club set me up with one of its members, a very friendly and helpful chap who was more than happy to share some local knowledge on the best approaches to take. With his help I managed to shoot a 94 (which is good for me on a sight unseen course). Whilst not overly long each hole is well set up and a couple of holes require you to shoot over water, which was fun. Fairways in reasonable nick as were the greens. Happy to come back again and a very good bargain

Played here over Xmas good value for money $25 through Iseek. Course in good condition and well layed out. Good facilities bar etc but don’t take your own grog, you can buy it there and there’s a drink cart. Can usually get on any day.

Cheapest round of golf going around at $29 dollars so u’d expect the course not to be in the best nick. Pleasantly uprised however, greens were nice, fairways sound(when i actually found one thankyou wayward driver). got stuck behind two groups of four semi playing together which made it near impossible to play through and no sign of a course marshall didnt help this. ened up skipping a few holes to speed it up then came back through and finsihed the missed ones off at the end. looking seriously at becoming a memeber due to the low prices offered.

Nice challenging course, greens were in good condition and overall I enjoyed playing the layout with its numerous bunkers and strategically placed water hazards. Good fun even though I scored too much! Best value for money around.

It was my first time on the Course and enjoyed the venue and for the $30 incl Cart it was fantastic value. I will definitely be going back in the new year and hopefully with a little bit of course knowledge in the bag will be able to reduce my score!

Played Sunday 15.12.2008. Paid $30 for round inclluding carts. Given the price, the course was excellent. It is not a championship course but was in good condition with quite good greens. The worst aspect was variable bunker quality but this was have been due to recent rain. Course flowed quite well and we finished in 4 hours which is almost unheard of in Brisbane on a Sunday (where you can play socially).

Course is really well looked after and the greens play well. Not too congested and pro-shop staff are really friendly and helpful.

Course is looking in good condition after the rain and the greens are playing well. Except for the wait from the morning comptetition ahead of us, we thouroughly enjoyed the club, especially at $20 a round!

Played on the 30th Nov and like others found it to be well under water. We battle on with the only problem of a couple of social groups ahead of us in their drunken state at 7am doing burn outs in their carts in the middle of the very wet fairways which made play very slow. The course Marshall was called and I did notice they were well behaved on the second nine which was a lot quicker. For a round of golf and cart for $29 on a dry day is good value.

very wet when we played with all bunkers out of play (great idea!) Lots of water on fairways Great layout with several challenging holes (especially par 3s) Would like to play again when dry Staff helpful and friendly. Very good value!

Good course, have played here before and enjoyed it thoroughly. This time however the rain that has been on the coast lately made the course play very long. Losing balls in bunkers is not a good way to spend a day and also not being able to find a ball that has hit the middle of the fairway is very frustrating. Having said that the course was great and the above is out of control of the green keepers.

Would play there again as is good value for money.

Challenging course from some holes but the sand traps are like concrete (hard mud)- I won’t go back there again and the 2 members I played with are moving to another club – for a 12 year old club it’s a dump!

A must, after getting home from the Comedy Club etc, around 1am and having to get to the club at 7am from Brisi. I was pleased to find I could get a coffee and breakfast. Thank the Pope.

What a layout and I walked the course so as to sober up...really a pleasent day. The start 3 holes are low strokes so if you are not into the grove beware. Playing this course was very rewarding. The course was in in good condition, especially the greens. It is a challenging course, not punishing, although. 16/17 two great holes. but it is a fantastic hole. The drinks oncourse are very reasonable. the car decided to make my trip eventfull by locking itself and all my gear. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price for 18 is great. Whether you take a cart or walk you should enjoy your day.

Best value for money around. Loved the back 9. GPS in cart was a good addition. Pro shop stock was excellent value with all the good brands. Bit rough off the fairway but f/ways greens and tees were great. Only neg for day was Andrew in the proshop who must have been having a bad day!!!

The course is not necessarily a picture of perfection when it comes to being manicured...but it is an awesome course for testing ones ability. The second nine particularly is full of excellent and exciting holes. A great course to grab some mates and play skins. Holes are not that long but very testing :)

This course has a good layout and surprised us with GPS on the carts. However, this is where the joy ended.

I played here on my trip away due to the good reviews on this site however, the course was in terrible condition. I don't know if it was a bad week or not but we often were playing off bare dirt in the middle of the fairway.

I will rely on other reviewers though because in good condition, I beleive this would be a nice course, however, it wasnt my experience on this occasion.

I have played this course on a number of occasions and found the experience to be very rewarding. The course always seems to be in great condition, especially the greens. It is a challenging course without being too punishing, although that cannot be said about the 17th which is challenging to say the least for a par 3, I can only imagine how many balls are in that lake!, but it is a fantastic hole. The food and drinks oncourse are very reasonable and staff seem to be very friendly and helpful, for the price of a round of 18 holes, this course shows tremendous value golf, for the golfer on a budget!

I'm new to the area and I'm looking at all the golf courses to see whats available within the Brisbane Gold Coast area, very happy with layout of golf course, members seem to be quite pleasant, pro-shop staff very helpfull, I totally enjoyed my round of golf at this golf course, if your looking for a round of golf around the $25 mark you'd be pretty happy after completing your round, and you would agree you got your moneys worth, some very interesting and testing golf holes.

The course is quite well priced and offers good value for the frugal golfer compared to most Gold Coast courses.

Membership packages are generally good value too.

If you are looking for a cheap game of golf with a great layout then GCCC is the place for you!
