Played here on the 3rd Feb 2012. Course was in a reasonably good condition considering all the rain we have had. Greens were a little slow, but you can’t complain for $37 including a cart.

Course was in average condition. It had rained early in the week but by Saturday this should not have affected it.

Greens extremely slow & heavy. Bunkers were all GUR on the day.

Price was ok for the condition of the course, but it was WAY overbooked. Took 5 hours to get around & a 10 minute wait (Minimum) on every tee. There was generally 4 groups lined up on every tee for the entire round.

Would not go back due to the overbooking & extremely slow round.

Has a good layout with both tight and wide fairways. We got around in about 3 and a half hours so it was a good time for the round. Some bunkers were a bit wet but still played well due to the good amount of sand in them. There is no way you could beat this course with value for money.

good membership deal at xmas $299. swore i would never come here again 2 yr ago, but did. bunkers still baron, fairways a little bare of grass, and greens not too bad. drinks lady is a nice girl.

7. crifricre | Rated | 14 Jan 2012 | Add A Review

Greens were in good condition. Some fairways need attention and when I got into a few bunkers around the course, I found there was lack of depth of sand that resulted in the ball skidding across the green. Otherwise good value for the price.

Just played on the 29th Dec 2011 and it was horrible. I can’t believe they up the price another $10 for a course that is in very poor shape.Pot holes everywhere, you are constantly bouncing round in the cart (take my advise if you have a sore back be very careful), bunkers are crap, long grass all over, chunks of mowed grass everywhere, I could go on an on. You can play heaps of other courses for less and alot better than this one. If I was to give it a rating out of 10 the score would be 1. Sorry Gold coast Country Club but you need to pick up your act. Will not be going back.

15. scenicpeak | Rated | 20 Dec 2011 | Add A Review

First played this course in 1996. If you play it now you won’t believe that it could have been a very good course. 100’s of trees have been removed, leaving many areas bare and also depriving the entire course of a root system to retain water.

You once had to hit a faded long iron on the first hole as your tee shot. Now just bomb whatever you want, all the trees are gone.

17th is still a great hole but would be mammothly better if the bunkers were deepened. 8th once was a good hole but now there are no trees around the green. 16th can still be mildly interesting.

Play it if you need something very cheap. Don’t play on Vets days.

Having played Palm Meadows the previous week for the same price, I could not have been more disappointed. I had not played this course since 2004 and I have to say that I will not be dragged back in a hurry. Fairways were awful, patchy and bare even drives struck to the middle of the fairway did not guarantee a decent lie. Greens were slow and the bunkers rock hard and bare, to the point that I was concerned I would damage the new sand wedge playing out of them. $20 game of golf at best and there is so much better around the coast for the price. Murwillumbah Ocean Shores Windaroo are all cheaper and stand way above GCCC in terms of challenge layout and condition, don’t waste your time here.

A little dissappointing. Looked better on the internet than in reality. Fairways were very patchy, with many bare areas. Greens were good. Staff, both pro shop and canteen, were indifferent (not rude, but not welcoming). Lots of mossies on the front nine. Over priced for the condition of the course, with other courses in the area offering much better deals with far better facilities and conditions.

Overall good experience….coarse drying up a bit….only thing that upset me was putting people off the 10th…teed off at 5am, front nine took just under 2 hours – back nine nearly 3 hours!!!!!

’Under New Management’ was branded heavily at the course.

Unfortunately, it was a rather average round even with ’New Management’

We found ourselves waiting to tee off at every hole on the course. At one stage we counted 7 groups between 2 holes. I appreciate its a cheap course. But nothing is more frustrating than waiting upto 5 minutes to tee off.

Surely tee times could be better managed.

The overall state of the course was average too. Most greens were slow and heavy, it had not rained for sometime yet there was heavy pooling of water randomly over the course. The fairways… well my backyard has better maintenance.

At the end of the day, can’t complain for $30 a round with a cart, but with a few little improvements ’Under the New Management’ and this could be one of the coasts best kept secrets.

First time and a visitor so it is good value for money.
I really enjoyed the back nine, lots of fun and challenging too.
The greens were a little bumpy especially on the first nine and it seemed like it had been double booked as we had to wait 30 mins to too off. So lots of waiting for the first nine then lots of call throughs with the better golfers in the back none.
However I enjoyed it.

This par 72 golf course is excellent value for money. Best played on when it is dry as it can be a slow going long bog when wet. Dog legs water carries and variety make the course very interesting and challenging. Mostly flat and the layout is easy to follow with short walks from green to the next tee. There are shaded water bubblers about the course. These things make it an easy walking course. The greens a medium paced

Course is good for the price. BUT the slow play was disgusting!!! Got stuck behind a group of 2 asians that walked so slow and were having probably 10 practice shot each time. So arrogant and they weren’t letting anyone through so we skipped a couple of holes to the 10th. Was going good until the 12th when we got stuck behind an asian group of 4 with the same problem. Absolutely disgraceful.
I told the clubhouse but they didn’t seem to care. Next time I’d rather pay the few extra $$$ to play at a course knowing it won’t be as bad.

I have played this course a number of times so far. Yesterday’s weather was extremely well and I really enjoyed playing there. Unfortunately I started 10-12 minute later than the scheduled starting time because of the slow players in front of me. Because of the slowness at each hole by players including women in front of me made me wait all the time, but I could manage to finish the course by the planned time.

Teed off there at 8 this morning and were stuck behind the verterans for a painstaking three hours before calling it a day after 9 holes. Not sure why the Pro couldn’t send us off the 10th? Course was pretty boggy and the hazards didnt offer too much of a threat as most of the water was out of play. Certainly the price was good after booking through iseekgolf but geez a frustrating day to say the least. Wont be back.

Value for money, the course presented a challenge without being too difficult to score. It absolutely poored with rain and we had to stop at the 12th as the course was a little wet. Fairways were in good condtion along with the greens, bunkers need a little attention. We will return for another round soon.

45. bafrolesw | Rated | 23 Apr 2011 | Add A Review

It’s the cheapest course for a reason. Fairways are either mud when it’s wet or straw when it’s dry. Greens are inconsistent and untidy and the bunkers are not looked after. But I keep going back there because the staff are friendly and it’s still good value, and they always try to get you on. Just don’t be in a rush to finish your round.

Don’t know why people are talking about GPS as I’ve played 15 rounds there this year and not seen one.

Played at GCCC on Sunday 6th March. Greens were good for the most part, bunkers were GUR as most had water in them due to recent rain. Took advantage of the $10 February special with three mates. Played 14th Nov. Did not enjoy this course as it hasn’t been maintained. The bunkers had no sand & the drainage aggregate had come to the surface (not good for your expensive clubs). Tees were hard as, & lacking grass. Fairways were sparse & hard to get any sort of decent lie. Fairway bunkers cut into every fairway at driver length, so you can get punished for a good shot. I’ll be giving this one a miss in future.

This course has the potential to be a lot better than it is. I have played it several times over the last few years and think the layout is great. It is let down by the facts mentioned by so many other golfers. With the huge number of people playing this course they need to put some money back into improving the condition of bunkers, greens, fairways and food and drink supply.
It’s a hackers track that could be charging more if the owners wanted it to lift it’s act.
You get what you pay for indeed.

Played on Friday June 25th.

Course was in good condition .. although a few of teh bunkers were short on sand!

No complaints about the value … staff were friendly …. and would be happy to play here again … but for one thing. The course was ridiculously overbooked.

We had a 1.32 tee time but didnt get away till at least 1.45. And there were four groups waiting behind us.

Play was so slow .. we had to give up due to poor light on the 14th.

Having not played for 12 months, it was a challenging course. Very wet in locations around the course due to recent heavy rains. the fairways could do with some cleaning up and improvement. the greens and tees were quick despite the watered nature of the course. the waterways and bunkers, particularly on the back nine were certainly challenging. the pro-shop guys very helpful and friendly. good cost structure. overall a course that we will be coming back to.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day and look forward to next time. The course is challenging, fun and very reasonably priced. Our only problem was a group started the back 9 holes just ahead of us which upset the momentum and we worried that the group behind us thought we were lagging.

Course was in good condition for the price $29.85 inc cart. Greens and fairways played well although some would complain about the conditon of the bunkers. But again for $29.95 i thought they were ok

Got stuck behind a 6 ball who were drunk and acting like fools. Asked to play through which they declined. Proceeded to the next hole only to have them hit up on us at first chance available. Lucky they couldnt hit the fairways so we were fine. Found a marshall and asked him to sort them out which he did promptly and efficiently

Very impressed with the staff and the attitude shown to patrons. A few of the more expensive golf courses could learn a thing or two about good customer service from GCCC. Also members very friendly and courteous

Played this course about a week ago and i have to say its amazing! really good experience! when i first turned up several staff members greeted me and made me feel welcome. When i got out on the course i found it relaxing yet challenging and a must for any golfer!

Im actually considering a membership there because out of all the courses i have played they seem to have the cheapest and the best memberships!

PROS

  • prices are amazingly low
  • staff are really friendly and skilled
  • course is just great

The Course as always has great potential , but nothing has been done with this course in 10 years, Bunkers are a disgrace, greens are good.

Some very arrogant workers, this course is not worth the money

I enjoyed the days golf with friends, course was good, bunkers need a bit of sand, but for the price excellant day.

We really felt like a beer & a snack as the signage helps you make an easy choice, but the clubrooms are very smelly & dirty so my friends from Brissy had one beer and wanted to leave.

Unfortunately not a clubhouse we’ll stop into again.

Nicely set out and the price was good but very crowded course with no supervision, many hidden hazards that the locals may know. Fairways and greens were average. The Clubhouse is a disaster, very old. The gents toilets had a broken hand dryer, no paper towels, no soap. The fixtures and fitting were ancient. You may play this course once but nothing to bring you back

Another great value deal, this is my first visit to the Gold Coast Country Club but it certainly won’t be my last. The fairness of the front nine is a complete change from what awaits you on the back nine. Some great hole designs, good greens and lush fairways.

Played on Good Friday. Generally nice course considering over night rain. Some bunkers were hard or full of water though. There was enough of a challenge for the intermediate golfer and definitely value for money. Biggest downfall was the waiting between tees. Too many were on the course at one time. And didn’t help not knowing the dress code was a collard shirt also. Nice course all the same and will definitely play again.

I rarely play this course as I found the fairways were really hard etc.. But after reading the last few reviews I decided to give it another go. Only $19 and the course is in great condition. Fairways and greens were great. Only complaint was some extremely slow play towards the end of the round from some drunk guys in front. Ended up skipping the hole and going in front of them

Played 21st Feb – Condition of the course was very poor – waterlogged in many places and most bunkers on the front nine were fill of water and unplayable (only played nine holes)………..drainage has always been an issue with this course. For $12 for nine it was okay and has a good challenge of holes – Greens were in good nick.

The GCCC is an expansive course – so much so it looks like it’s a bit much for the ground staff to keep on top of. The fairways, bunkers, landscaping etc need attention – and they deserve it, because the greens are fine, many of the holes are challenging and the value for money is excellent. Be warned however – bring your own lunch. At 12.30pm we darted into the club house for some fuel after finishing the front nine and the total food offering was three sausage roles. We left one for the group behind us to share.

Played there yesterday and it is a good course with a reasonable layout. This course is a good test of a golfer and has great facilities, but doesn’t pretend to be anything that it isn’t.

The fairways are not pristine, the greens are very good and the holes are a mix of different facets of the game, the staff a friendly, and it is reasonably cheap. The members were incredibly friendly and let me play through.

I would definitely play again and knowing the course will make it easier as water is in locations you don’t expect.

Played here on 26/12/2009. It’s great value especialy booking through this site. Course is in fair condition. Some bare batches and some still water on fair ways and most of the bunkers were washed out due to the heavy rain the night before. Play was at a good pace.
Would have loved to have more distance markers around the course.

I Played here on tuesday morning (5am). The course was in fairly good condition considering the storm we had in the area the night before as long as you kept out of the bunkers as they were rock hard. The lack of rain has certainly taken its toll on the course as there are quite a few bare patches and the fairways are rock hard.

I was a member of the club 2 years ago but got fed up with the overcrowding and hackers using the course as another excuse to get drunk. I cant comment on if this is still an issue as i had an early tee time.

For the price i will play again, and hopefully we will get a wet start to 2010 which should improve the conditions which are out of the clubs control.

Also they have changed the numbering of the holes since last i played, back 9 holes are now the front 9, I do prefer the flow of the course the old way.

A good value course with several memorable holes. Holes are generally on the short side but plenty of well positioned sand traps and water to keep you thinking.

The sand in the bunkers was inconsistent, sometimes soft and sometimes rock hard. The greens were a little slow for me too.

The mandatory 10 min break between 9’s was strange, some groups observe the break and others don’t which just seems to add to the confusion. We had 1 group who tried to use this opportunity to "overtake" others.

Have played there 3 times in the last 6-8 weeks now, and the improvement in the course has been remarkable. Whilst still not marque status re preparation it is clear that much effort is underway, renovating bunkers, and repairing faults with tees and bad patches on fairways. I hope(?) they begin to add lips around the many greenside bunkers that now invite putting out of….

The course is an exceelent risk reward combination, much variety, and while not long – offers many challenges.

The staff are friendly, although course marshal jumps to conclusions, and could be more active.

The "mandatory’ 10 minute break between 9th and 10th is absurd

We started at 5:30am and there were only a couple of groups ahead of us.
The condition was reasonably good if you consider the price.

It was very enjoyable play until we got to the 12th hole. It seemed that there was a competition going on which we did not notify by the stuff or anyone before the tee-off. Therefore, at 12th hole, our group was actually stuck in the comtition groups.

It was a 12th or 13th hole/par3. Although we were still on the green and patting but the comp players behind our group kept hitting the ball off to the greens. And they came to us which we thought that they were coming to apologise but to told us to wait until all the competition group got through us. It was very unpleasant incident. That was around 8am and we could not afford to wait for all of them to get through because we had to go to work. Therefore, we stopped playing at 12th and got out of there.

The people were so rude when they told us to wait and we felt very awful after the play.
We told the staff about the occassion but they had nothing else to do but saying just sorry when still dealing with other customers.

I would never go back to the course considering staff and local player’s behavior.

A very challenging layout, made more so by a misguided hole layout markers (11 is dogleg Left – NOT Right!!)and the poor condition of fairways and greens. Understandably, there has been a drought of late, however the renovations on the greens make a 3 putt commonplace, and perhaps could of waited until the grass was less’stressed’. Hole 8 is a water-phobes nightmare with 188m across water to an elevated green – I made it but only just!!

Irrigation was playing up which left the fairways dry and hard which made difficult for iron play. The greens were also hard and difficult to stay on. No rain for weeks so the ground was very hard and dusty with wind but the greens were good and the people at the club very friendly. Our cart broke down on the 14th hole but we only waited 10 mins for a replacement. We had no food or drinks on the course but the sandwiches from the shop were very good. Played yesterday. Booked through iseekgolf.com which made organisation easy as we played in a four. I guess this is one of those courses where you get what you pay for. Granted there has been limited rain however the fairways were very hard with hard soil/dirt on some/most. Not a pretty course to look at in parts however some of the greens with water surrounding are quite nice. The tees were a little sandy but the greens were quite good.

I believe a little TLC will bring this course to be competitive with Parkwood International (which for the price, after 1pm, is great value!)

As a local, GCCC is one of the nearer courses for me. But I prefer it over most others. As someone else said, it is a good test of golf without being too punishing. The staff have improved it greatly since I began playing it 3 years ago, it is a credit to them. I have never met the ill-mannered and elitist at GCCC and have always found impromptu playing partners to be pleasant people. The bunkers and greens are always in good condition and the (new layout) 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 18th in particular are great holes, with the 8th spectacular! The club set me up with one of its members, a very friendly and helpful chap who was more than happy to share some local knowledge on the best approaches to take. With his help I managed to shoot a 94 (which is good for me on a sight unseen course). Whilst not overly long each hole is well set up and a couple of holes require you to shoot over water, which was fun. Fairways in reasonable nick as were the greens. Played on the 30th Nov and like others found it to be well under water. We battle on with the only problem of a couple of social groups ahead of us in their drunken state at 7am doing burn outs in their carts in the middle of the very wet fairways which made play very slow. The course Marshall was called and I did notice they were well behaved on the second nine which was a lot quicker. For a round of golf and cart for $29 on a dry day is good value.

Good course, have played here before and enjoyed it thoroughly. This time however the rain that has been on the coast lately made the course play very long. Losing balls in bunkers is not a good way to spend a day and also not being able to find a ball that has hit the middle of the fairway is very frustrating. Having said that the course was great and the above is out of control of the green keepers.

Nice challenging course, greens were in good condition and overall I enjoyed playing the layout with its numerous bunkers and strategically placed water hazards. Good fun even though I scored too much!

PROS

  • good value and various fun challenges

Cons

  • lots of mozzies near trees so take the repellant

Challenging course from some holes but the sand traps are like concrete (hard mud)- I won’t go back there again and the 2 members I played with are moving to another club – for a 12 year old club it’s a dump!

A must, after getting home from the Comedy Club etc, around 1am and having to get to the club at 7am from Brisi. I was pleased to find I could get a coffee and breakfast. Thank the Pope.

What a layout and I walked the course so as to sober up...really a pleasent day. The start 3 holes are low strokes so if you are not into the grove beware. Playing this course was very rewarding. The course was in in good condition, especially the greens. It is a challenging course, not punishing, although. 16/17 two great holes. but it is a fantastic hole. The drinks oncourse are very reasonable. the car decided to make my trip eventfull by locking itself and all my gear. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price for 18 is great. Whether you take a cart or walk you should enjoy your day.

Best value for money around. Loved the back 9. GPS in cart was a good addition. Pro shop stock was excellent value with all the good brands. Bit rough off the fairway but f/ways greens and tees were great. Only neg for day was Andrew in the proshop who must have been having a bad day!!!

The course is not necessarily a picture of perfection when it comes to being manicured...but it is an awesome course for testing ones ability. The second nine particularly is full of excellent and exciting holes. A great course to grab some mates and play skins. Holes are not that long but very testing :)

This course has a good layout and surprised us with GPS on the carts. However, this is where the joy ended.

I played here on my trip away due to the good reviews on this site however, the course was in terrible condition. I don't know if it was a bad week or not but we often were playing off bare dirt in the middle of the fairway.

I will rely on other reviewers though because in good condition, I beleive this would be a nice course, however, it wasnt my experience on this occasion.

I have played this course on a number of occasions and found the experience to be very rewarding. The course always seems to be in great condition, especially the greens. It is a challenging course without being too punishing, although that cannot be said about the 17th which is challenging to say the least for a par 3, I can only imagine how many balls are in that lake!, but it is a fantastic hole. The food and drinks oncourse are very reasonable and staff seem to be very friendly and helpful, for the price of a round of 18 holes, this course shows tremendous value golf, for the golfer on a budget!

I'm new to the area and I'm looking at all the golf courses to see whats available within the Brisbane Gold Coast area, very happy with layout of golf course, members seem to be quite pleasant, pro-shop staff very helpfull, I totally enjoyed my round of golf at this golf course, if your looking for a round of golf around the $25 mark you'd be pretty happy after completing your round, and you would agree you got your moneys worth, some very interesting and testing golf holes.

The course is quite well priced and offers good value for the frugal golfer compared to most Gold Coast courses.

Membership packages are generally good value too.

If you are looking for a cheap game of golf with a great layout then GCCC is the place for you!
