Only 18 minutes and 11 kilometres from the centre of Brisbane, Keppera Country Golf Club is set in a typical Australian rainforest environment. Hundreds of different types of trees and scores of bird species combine to make this course one of the most picturesque in South East Queensland. But Keppera is more than just a marvellous place to commune with nature. Its 27 holes are able to be played in different combinations which provide three distinct courses.
The golfer, whether novice or expert, is offered the chance to really test golfing skills. Natural couch fairways with Bermuda or Tifdwarf greens have been carved out of the natural vegetation and waterways in the area, so that each of the three combinations of course require good length, accuracy and a fine touch on the greens.

My home course. The 27 holes give some good variety week in week out. 10-18 give me the biggest challenge. The first hole is a nice one to start off on. Course condition is usually slightly better than the average suburban course. I’ve noticed recently that it’s not always the friendliest club around. There’s been some unneccesary agro from members both between themselves and directed towards social players. Not sure what’s causing it, slow play and ettiquette/rule violations can be a problem on every course at times but doesn’t seem excessive here. The pro-shop staff aren’t that great either. That being said, well-worth a hit.

this course is overrated, a lot of the holes are plain and boring with none really standing out as signature holes. still the greens are good and the fairways are mostly ok. a lot of people say this is the best course in brisbane, for the price. i disagree. Wantima country club, at brendale is slightly cheaper and a better course.

Played in the comp a few weeks ago on a Sunday and was shocked to be charged $35 to play in their Sunday comp as a visiting member of another club. The most I have ever paid at other clubs is about $20. We didn’t even get to play the main 18 we had a composite course.
Wont be back

With so many courses these days being sheer brutality with a lost ball a metre off the fairway, Keperra gives a great blend of playability for the occasional golfer with enough difficulty to satisfy all levels. The front nine relies on good club selection – reasonably long hitters can leave the driver in the bag. Out of bounds down holes 2 to 4 hurt many a round, and wild tee shots will disappear forever into the thick treed areas, but it is not that hard in comparison to the back 9. This nine is a beautiful walk, with great looking holes, especially 7 & 8. Try to overpower it at great risk…. The back 9 is a lot more open, but can really hurt your score. Both par 3’s are a major challenge, with 17 being a full water carry if you want to go at the green from the back tee. Even if you have a good game going, the last 4 holes are a major challenge, and destroy many good rounds. The third 9 is not quite up to the other two, but has some great moments. The third nine has recently been extended to add some more difficulty , with the 20th, 22nd and 24th being amongst the hardest holes on the course. This nine gets better every year, and punishes mistakes fairly severely with multiple creek crossings and dense rough.
PROS
- Well Established
- Fully Irrigated fairways
- Good challenge for all levels

Beau-t-ful Being as bias as i am, i would not want to call any other course my local. 1-18 offers different challenges at different times with the 19-27 great if you want to work on your accuracy, a lot of work has gone into this 9 holes and now is joyfulll to play. Yes a short course, but a good one at that.

I played Keperra last week and was relatively impressed. The course is in great condition considering the water restrictions etc in Brisbane. I played the old course and didn’t find it too challenging – I found the par 5’s to be a bit short and where the par 4’s are a little bit narrower there was still no issue hitting a 3 wood and iron or 2 hybrid shots onto the green. All things considered though, the course is great value for money. I would definately go back again.

I always enjoy 1-18 on this course.Naturally contoured through the forest.Cool and breezy it’s a nice place to play. It’s short but the layout defends it in some areas from long hitters taking it apart. Good value for money
PROS
- picturesque natural layout
- rarely too busy
Cons
- short

Keperra is a great little short course, that uses trees and water to defend it short length. Was in great nick when I played it, and would recommend it to anyone. Watch out for the short but eadly 8th hole.

Played here last week January 10th and it was in some of the best conditons I have ever seen a course. Beautiful fairways and nice green. It is tight but challenging. Really enjoyed it and have been recommending it to friends. Although the staff in the pro shop could do with a little cheering up.

Keperra is a course I played recently. This course is quite challenging without being frustration.
The condition of the course is very good with fairways and greens in great condition and the bunkers being in the best nick of any course I have played in Brisbane recently. The greens certainly roll true, but with the right degree of challenges with the contouring, elevation and pin placement.
The course has a good mix of par 3's, 4's and 5's with doglegs favouring both players who draw and fade on varying holes. The length of the holes tends to be short, but there are some long par 4's to test long hitters.
I believe this is the best value course in Brisbane and it isn't difficult to get on due to the 27 holes and the way they schedule the holes. The staff are always friendly and the practice facilities are good with driving nets, fairway and a good practice putting green.
I will always choose this as a club of choice.

This is a great golf course. Seems to be always in good nick considering the drought. Have only played the old course (first 18 holes) so can't comment on 19-27.
The first hole is a cracker. Par 5 with great use of water surrounding most of the green. The few holes along the train line are tight and if your a little wayward with the driver the ball will best lost forever. Very nice looking golf couse with the kedron brook running though it. Have seen a number of turtles in the lake running along the par 3 17th (which is also a great hole).
No wonder this course was rated in the top 100 public access courses in Australia for 2007.

This is a tough golf course. Nice and tight, very short though. The guy who says it is wide must play on a bowling alley normally. I've played over 200 courses and it is definetly in the top 10% for narrow fairways. If you put the driver away you can score well.

Keperra is a course I have played a number of times. It is a challenging course which rewards good shots. If you play Keperra try to play holes 1 to 18, as 19 to 27 are quite rough. The staff are always quite helpful, with the grounds staff doing a great job of keeping the course in great shape. The fairways are in good shape and your ball rarely gets a bad lie if on the fairway. The par 5s are all reachable in two, but if you are wayward a big score is guaranteed. The par 4s are all fair and reward good shots with pars and a good approach shot will make bidie possible. The par 3s will reward accurate shots, but will penalise inaccuracy. Overall a great course which is well maintained

Having not played keperra for a few years, i went out for a game. the first thing i noticed was how short and wide the course was. the second thing was the lack of challenge, or thought required to play this course. yes there are some well placed bunkers, but the greens, although a good pace, and good holding, were very weedy. The constant string of 300M par 4s was quite boring, the only hole somewhat interesting being the par 3 4th, at 173M. I play of an 8 handicap, and i shot even par. although a pretty place, it is not a good challenge. i would go as far as to say i would rather play at albany links, than keperra

This is the first time I have played this course and I have got to say, it won't be my last.
It is the type of course that is just beautiful to be apart off...even if you aren't tonking them.
It is the type of course that you improve your game. It has a good layout and is just a pleasure to play.
Give it a go...

The other reviews on this site are right on with their assessments. This is a good course with plenty of variety. You have to do your scoring early as the 16,17,18 finish do not offer any snack birdies.
My recommendation to all is to play the composite course if you can. Basically the hardest (and longest) 18 holes of the 27. Some holes are a genuine composite wherby you hit from one holes tee to another holes green.
This course is incredibly long, get a motorised cart as you will be buggered at the end. Don't bother turning up if you are not hitting the driver well.
Facilities are fine.

Keperra is a popular course and has good variety with it's 27 holes providing three possible layouts - Old, North, West.
Holes 1-9 are all challenging to the average golfer while also providing some genuine chances for good scoring. There's a couple of shorter par 4's early and the three par 5's on this ide of the course provide good opportunities to score even for those who can't rip big shots to reach in two.
Holes 10-18 can be hard to score on and the average golfer will really need to concentrate so that their score doesn't blow out. I play off 14 and have often used up most of my handicap on this nine. The 10th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th are all either quite long or need to played carefully and the other holes aren't easy either.
Holes 19-27 aren't most people's favourite but as I said they do offer variety to the course. Generally they need to be played for accuracy and you'll be hitting 3 woods or long irons off the tee rather than drivers. There are probably a couple of dud holes here though -19th and 26th particularly.
Generally the standards of fairways and greens at this course is better than at your average suburban course and the staff are quite friendly and helpful.

The Old Course Holes 1 -18 Par 72.
You need to make your score early with the opening three holes fairly easy birdie opportunities. You then play a tough 190 odd metre par 3 followed by a reachable par 5. Then a 160 metre par 3 which is guarded at the front by bunkers, a par 4 which plays difficult dependent on the wind a easy par 3 and 5 to finish the front 9. A very difficult par 4 starts the back 9 followed by a par five where you can make three or quite easily make 6. Very Difficult par 3 at close to the 200 metre mark then a par 5 that only the longest of hitters can reach. Two fairly easy par fours follow that can ruin a good score, followed by one of the hardest finishing three holes in Brisbane. Again make your score on the front nine then try to hang on to it. Oh there's another nine that allows flexibility to club for weekend comp which is has a Par of 35 with some real sleepers out there.

I have to agree with realisticgolfer I also played a mid week open comp at Keperra just recently, and was disappointed to be relegated to the old coarse and slugged $37 for the displeasure! I have played the main coarse on a few occasions and really enjoyed it, but the other 18 really is just Poo!!!! not well maintained and an uninteresting layout.I think I will stick to the likes of Gailes Carbrook and Wynumm for well priced opens from now on.
