In all seriousness, just an average course with nothing outstanding about it. Greens were very challenging and offered little read at times but were in fantastic condition. Fairways were in good condition, however there were a lot of waterlogged patches with no relief available making some shots almost impossible (probably cost me 4 strokes). For a period that has had very little rain, the bunkers were very compacted and unless a previous player had entered the same area you were basically hitting off of concrete.
Won’t be rushing back there for another round.

Joined this club in November 2009 and what a great track it is. Classic sandbelt course with superb fairways, bunkering and greens. Hard to fault and such excellent value. The more I play here, the more I like it. No wonder this course was ranked 1 in Victoria by PGA members. The course accommodates all levels of players. The whole place has an ambiance that will keep bringing me back.

The course is very accessible by freeways and Eastlink. If you are looking for a sandbelt course this one is a MUST play. It won’t disappoint you.

Some of the information in the above article is not correct. Actually, visitors fees are $50 per round, and Competition Fees are $5 per competition. Mind you, still great value! Course is in great shape and this club has just won the PGA awards for Course of the Year 2008 and Best ProAm Event (<$10k) 2008.

PROS

  • Fast and True greens
  • Great staff
  • Good atmosphere

Cons

  • A tough test!

Very ’underrated’ sandbelt course IMO. Very, very tough challenge of golf. Course is immaculately presented and the greens are some of the purest greens I have putted on. Holes 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 would have to be one of the toughest stretch of holes I have ever played in a row. Great course, definitely a ’must’ play.

Agreed with the previous review. It is truly in good conditions even with the current weather in Victoria. Members are friendly. A bit further out from Melbourne, but it’s worth going.

Great sandbelt course thats in in impeccable condition. The greens are a particular treat possibly the truest i have ever played, comparing it to kingston heath not quite as fast but maybe smoother. Played here as part of the free golf promotion. At even at $70 a round definatley worth it

Fantastic sandbelt members course, always seems to be in top condition – true sandbelt greens, fast and tru. Great bunkering, and strategic design make this one of the best courses on the peninsula.

What a great course! I didn’t expect it to be so good, but it’s a gem. I can’t beleive it isn’t in the top 100. Greens are impossibly fast, and are surrounded by lots of bunkers.

Great challenge of golf. Not the longest course in Melbourne (ala Moonah Links) but when the wind picks up, be ready for a 2 club change. Greens are fast but well maintained. Fairways are in good condition despite the drought. Avoid trips to the rough as it will be tough to find your balls and you may encounter “snake hazards”

I had the pleasure of being invited to play here a couple of months ago. All i can say is the condition of the whole place was excellent. Green are fast but true, fareways are in great condition, just be weary of the many bunkers! I will never say no to another invite to play here again. Is one of the best on the Peninsula.
