An easy walking 18 hole, par 71, 5,769 metre course, it provides a challenging game for the low handicapper and an exciting but very playable game for the hacker. The tree-lined rich Greenleas Park and Couch fairways place a premium on accurate driving, but the penalty for an errant shot is not too punishing. The beautiful Bermuda greens, well protected by bunkers can be challenging, but run fair and true.
A large practice putting green is located adjacent to the club house, together with a practice chipping and pitching green, complete with bunker, and practice nets to tune your swing. A full-sized practice driving range with target greens is located between the 3rd and 4th fairways, near the 4th hole tee.

Played in the Saturday comp with a couple of locals and found this quite an interesting layout. There is plenty of water around the course and some interesting holes. Definitely a course you need to play more than once to work out some of the holes.
The fairways were ok, without being great and the greens were in good condition. It is quite a flat course and so is easily walked.
One of the anomalies of the course is that both nines start and end with a par 5 and there are only four. There are also two par 3s in a row on the front nine. Green fees for comp play were $20 plus $10 comp fee. I believe the standard green fees are $35, so a bonus to play in the comp.
The other course in Mackay (Melaleuca) is closed at the moment so this is your only option unless you travel inland to Pioneer Valley Golf Club in Mirani or south to Sarina.
Well worth a game.
