Second Skooota’s review below. Hadn’t played here for 15+ years after course conditioning became non-existent – have things changed now. For a public course in Melb in August, fairways in good nick and greens/aprons bordering on the ridiculously lush. Avoided bunkers so can’t comment on those! Sure, the design is pretty straightforward, with most holes straightaways, but they are now making the most of what they have, and good luck to them. Warmer weather will see greens speed up and couch grass kick in properly. A welcome surprise and recommended for green fee players on that side of town – I’ll be back!

I played this course on Sunday after a rude and shocking experience at Keilor Golf Course left me never wanting to waste my time there again.
KEILOR GOLF COURSE – We had a booking and still had to wait behind 5 Groups before we were expected to Tee Off on the first, when I enquired about the possibilities of teeing off on the 10th ( seeing we were a group of 2 with a cart )I was rudely made to feel like this was a stupid and unreasonable request. Overcrowded and proud of it with a rude back chatting course manager that has no problems in making you feel insignificant to the all mighty dollar.
Melbourne Airport Golf Course – Had not played here since it was called Tullamarine Country Club over a few moons ago. After the horrible start we had to the day we headed up the free-way to see if we could walk on an get a round in. Course manager was more then happy to let us get a round in even without a booking and once we hit the fairways we were surprised in the amazing condition the course was in. Eftpos was not an issue for us and was working all fine.
Great to see the planes take off and land during the afternoon with the all mighty Airbus taking off around 3pm with an all mighty roar.
Great course and will be back to have a crack before I even think of that hell hole Keilor.
PROS
- Nice Lush and Green
- Never overcrowded like other courses nearby
- Well maintained
- Pleaseure to play on
Cons
- Planes and wind can be distracting
- Not as many carts available
- More water fountains would be nice

Fairways are usually in good condition year round. You have to be pretty accurate off the tee here as you only get about a meter of rough(if your lucky) until you find yourself in the sticks and trees.
The greens are slow compared to other courses and don’t turn as much as they look like they should(except the 18th.) Greens are always in great condition.
The bunkers can be annoying sometimes, the sand can be rock hard. They are all positioned around the greens, No fairway bunkers.
The course has a little variety, but it’s fairly back and forth.
Most of the par 3s are long. The front nine is harder then the back nine although it is scored differently.
BTW Bring longer tees as the tee boxes aren’t very good.
!!!!!!!!!!!! IT CAN GET REALLY WINDY HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PROS
- Good value for money
- Usually quite
Cons
- Wind

Played this course for the first time today at $24 on a public holiday. First off, facilities are…backward. The Pro-shop is in some portable looking "building ’ and we couldn’t pay by EFTPOS. Toilets are, unpleasant.
Having said that, the course was in excellent condition, very green and well grassed and the Greens, although slow, played well enough for a public course. The course is fairly easy, very straight and not a lot of surprises, other than the 6th, where the fairway is pretty much sloped at about 45 deg toward an elevated green.
The course is very close to the runway so you play to a background of jets screaming off the runway every few minutes.
I’d definitely play here again, good value and excellent course condition for a public course. The planes provide a unique addition to your day of golf – I’d recommend this to the public-course regulars out there.
PROS
- Fairways in excellent condition
Cons
- Bunkers ordinary - hard sand or dust in many
- Facilities

Has anyone ever wondered why some blokes go to fine establishments such as ’Top of the Town’ when they are feeling frisky rather than a dodgy back ally in St. Kilda???
The reason might be because you get what you pay for and this course is exactly like a $10 an hour pro you find whilst you are trawling the back allies of St.Kilda. It’s cheap and nasty, yet when you finish playing this course you kind of feel slightly sorry for it.
Look don’t get me wrong I am by no means a man of high morals, I just get overcome with an enormous feeling of guilt and disgust when I even try to remember my experience at this course. It is a day that I would like to forget, yet it is too disturbing to ever totally rid from my memory.
Some nights I wake up in a cold sweat yelling ‘no stop it gorge*, stop it’, my girlfriend tries to comfort me but it is to no avail. This course has scared me deeper than any knife could and now I am dedicating my life to making sure no person ever has to endure what I have.
*The gorge is the par 4 (5th or 6th hole)
PROS
- The course was rather green
Cons
- The course is straight
- The gorge (hole 5 I think) is near on impossible to play. Something about plaing a hole on a cliff face doesn't sit well with me
- Struggled to find the pro shop
- When I did find the pro shop I was disappointed
- The 17th is under a flight path for 747 jets

Ok… so I just got home after my first round at this course, I have to say that the greens are fantastic 9/10.
The fairways were well maintained, a little damp on most holes… but imo better than being dry! I found nemerous balls throughout my round from peoples tee shots that had be burried and stuck in the fairway. I would rate the fairays 7/10.
The tees werent to bad, could use a little work but overall still playable 5/10
Good value for money $22 per round mid week. The course layout is very straight forward and great for a beginer or average player, it also plays a little longer with the strong winds in the area. wide fairways and tricky bunker placement makes for a great round :)

What a ripper little course. Played there yesterday when all my usual haunts were booked out. I had heard a few things about this course so I rang up and the guys in the pro shop said theres was pretty much nobody there. Jackpot!
On arriving, the first thing I noticed was a giant Boeing 777 flying straight over the carpark. This would be a regular occurrence throughout my round as the course is right next to the runway at Melbourne Airport. After a couple of holes, the noise tends not to bother you so much. If the wind picks up, there is also the smell of exhaust from the planes which isn’t the most pleasant smell in the world.
But don’t let what I said above discourage you. The course is in pretty good nick especially for a <$30 course. The fairways are fantastic and well looked after, the pro shop specifically ask you to take a sand bucket. I did notice that as you go, the quality of the fairways does taper off slightly. This is particularly noticable on the last few holes, but even then, it’s still light years better than Keilor’s best fairway.
The greens were also in great shape and were lightning quick yesterday. Took me a couple of holes to get used to it. The tee boxes were a bit suss, the grass cover was a bit sparse, but that said, on the par 3’s most of the divots were filled with sand.
All in all, a pretty neat course, and if you have to wait for the group ahead, at least there’s something interesting to look at (the aeroplanes). It’s one of the great hidden gems around Melbourne and well worth a look.
PROS
- Fairways
- Price
- Not too crowded
Cons
- Constant aircraft
- Tee boxes

I have played this course on many occasions over the summer period. After the rain in in February the fairways and green were in top condition. For a hackers course I think this is a little gem. It is well worth the $13.50 after 3:00 PM for unlimited golf on Weekdays.

Played there a few times in the last few weeks, not a bad course with some reasonable variety. The first few holes are in decent shape (bunkers, fairways, greens) but then most of it drops off.
I find that the further you get into the course the worse the condition of the bunkers become and the majority of the tees are very average. That said most of the greens are in ok shape and as long as you keep the ball on the fairway you should have a decent shot.
The only thing that keeps me going is the 5 min drive from my place and the $10 green fees after 3pm.

We played here last Sunday and were very impressed with the course. The fairways were in very good condition, unlike the experience of the previous reviewer. Perhaps it was the rain we had in October, but the fairways were almost uniformly lush and green. The greens also were in excellent condition, though a little slow. But they were true and definitely not bumpy. The course, whilst not championship standard, is an interesting and enjoyable setup for golfers of all standards.
For $10 after 3pm this is an incredible bargain and well worth a trip out there.

Played there last weekend. I found the fairways inconsistent – one third are have rewarding lush fast grass, another third have sparce grass with clay like soil underneath and the final third have almost no grass at all in patches. There was more than one occasion where a perfectly straight drive found bare ground.
Dont worry about playing from the rough here – there is none. No thick grass here just sticks, sticks a spash of dust and rubble, Oh, and more sticks.
Bunkers were challenging, well kept and positioned quite well however.
Greens were bouncy, unpredictable and ridiculously slow. However this could be put down to the sand that has been put down.
I found the front nine tougher, despite the course being ranked the opposite.
Will not return. Reccomended just for the experience but no other real reason to come back.

Played here very recently. the only good things was that from 3pm it costs $10. But that bought out the tracksuit brigade.
The course is really suffering with the drought. Apparently they are able to harvest the water from the Tullamarine Airport. Was told last year there was problems with the pumps to water the fairways. But had heard on the grapevine this had been fixed WRONG. The fairways were in a very dry and dead condition and will take an enormous amount of work to get them back. Greens how ever were pretty good. Tee condition was in the middle of that of the fairways and the greens. It is a real pity as this course 10 years ago was an excellent course. An example of how dry it is on the 15th fairway ( which has a huge slope running across it) The person I was playing with hit the ball down the RHS and we found the ball on the LHS in the rough it had rolled approx 80mts down the slope. Will not be back here until after winter and spring. A Waste of the $10

Last game here was in the summer months on an extremely windy day. Hitting a 3 wood 300m+ with the wind and then needing 5 solid shots into the wind to make a mid length par 4 meant that the day was full of frustrations. Make sure to check the local wind before heading out!

I remember first playing this course about 6-7 years ago, when a drought had struck and turned this course into an unplayable dust bowl.
I returned here sometime last year, and was pleased to see that there was grass on the course - but my game just wasn't up to scratch that day, so all I remember remember is slice - duff - three putt...a real shocker!
I've played hee twice earlier this year, and the course really impressed me. The condition is really excellent, which is a marvellous effort by the maintenance staff considering what they had to work with.
There are some really good holes on this course, which has a nice variation between gentle and extreme undulations. The 6th hole, a 420m par-4, with OOB all the way along the right hand side (in the form a steep valley), a steep uphill rise to the green guarded a deep bunker or two, and an ever-present gale howling across the valley - this is a memorable hole, and if you make par, consider it a birdie, 'cause this hole has ruined many many rounds.
The 'amen corner' from holes 11-13 require accurate drives and smart play - otherwise you'll find an unwanted abundance of 6's on your card.
The 18th is currently reduced to a temporary par-3, as the club has recently purchased the unused Virgin terminal from the airport (which is, by the way, just across the road - try not to start your backswing just as the 4:21 from Perth is landing!) which will be converted into new clubrooms, where the 18th green used to be, so they're building a new 18th where the driving range currently is.
Visitors are welcome, especially Sunday social groups (which is when I play the course), green fees about $25, great value, very good course.

I played here today & thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The course at the moment is LUSH! Beautiful fairways, like carpet on some holes. The greens are soft and spongy and the bunkers aren’t in bad shape either for a public course. Actually I’d say the bunkers are above expectation.
Every man and his dog was there today being a public holiday but the pace was consistent. Pro shop staff friendly. Have to agree with previous posters about the planes, not many taking off over the course today, they mostly headed out west, but the a380 took off about 3:30pm. Bit of a kick.
Excellent value golfing. Pretty sure I used every club in my bag today. Encourage everyone to play it as it is now in excellent condition.
I give it 4.5 stars for the whole experience.
