This is a good layout, but the greens were very rough. We played here twice, 3 days apart and the pins hadn’t been moved or the greens cut, and they were long, bumpy and slow the first time we played.

The fairways were in reasonable condition and with preferred lies through the green there were no issues with any less grassed areas.

The course has no bunkers, but a number of holes have large trees in the middle of the fairway. There are some nasty internal out of bounds, particularly between the 13th and 16th holes. What looks like a hazard from the tee on the right side of 13 is actually marked as OOB, with the same occurring on your second shot on the right of 16.

It is an easy walk but take plenty of water as there are no drinking fountains on the course.

The green fees of $25 are a little high for what you get, but given the weather out here they do well to have grass on the fairways and greens. Certainly worth a game if you are in the area and, given there are no other alternatives nearby make sure you check it out.

Mount Isa Golf Club is an amazing golfing experience. It has nice Green fairways, that are well defined by a first cut of rough and hard red dirt. It offers breath taking views as the green grounds of the course is surrounded by Grand Canyon like mountains.

Although you wont run into the traditional types of hazards such as Sand Bunkers and Water Traps it offers its own hazards in the way of GUM Trees lining the fairways and some pretty rugged country off the fairways.

After you've slogged it out in the heat for a couple of hours you can relax inside at the Club house and cool off with an ice chilled beer and have a friendly chat with some of the locals who all seem very kind and passionate about the game we all love.

All in all a must do golfing experience.
