Mullumbimby Golf Club

Far North Coast, NSW | User Rating: Rate-3 (3.5) | Add A Review

Situated a short drive from Byron Bay, Mullumbimby is your typical Australian public golf course. Unleash your driver into long open fairways and test your putting stroke on undulating greens.

The second 9 is sure to test golfers of all standards. Water hazards, fairway bunkers and dog legs keep things extremely interesting.

A slight half star ahead of your usual back and forwards country course thanks to an interesting back nine. On the early holes hit as far astray as you want and it’s still par/bogey territory. On the back, particularly the 15th and the two long par threes, it’s a bit tougher. The weather at this time of year is fantastic. The pro am was due the day after I played and we’ll assume the course is in peak condition so the very hard tees and fairways appears to be the norm. Greens are true, hazards are few. Not expensive and pretty laid back. Mullimbimby itself is bigger than expected and would be great for an overnighter and a hit with a few mates.Worth a try.The Relic.

PROS

  • Weather, cost, friendliness.

Cons

  • Baked hard, repetitious front nine.

Just had a very pleasant golf society weekend here. Yes it is flat but challenging enough – I wouldn’t exactly call the Par 4 15th easy which is probably its signature hole. Yes it is probably less of a challenge for low handicappers. The greens were in good condition and the staff very friendly.

Fair country course, flat and boring no real interesting holes don’t know where someone gives 5 stars must be a bloody member or played some really crap courses.

A very pleasant country course, affordable green fees and very nice staff one of which was a very nice yet very unattractive young man by the name of Daniel with obvious hygiene issues (body odour). This course should be a highlight for any North Coast golfing adventure.

Organising a Northern NSW golf weeknd for Brisbanites can be a nightmare when it comes to Saturday play. Mullumbimby GC came to the rescue. Staff were friendly and the course was in fair nick - the greens apparently had just been relaid and were above average for a country course. Some interesting holes, especially on the back nine, made this round of golf enjoyable with a true laid back country feel. And we were back at the Hotel Brunswick in plenty of time for a pot and a punt. We'll certainly play Mullumbimby again next year.

Measures 5965m Par 70 with 5 Par 3s ranging from 130-195m, 10 Par 4s ranging from 275-380m and three Par 5s ranging from 470-500m. Played here on weekend 18/2/06 and paid $20 green fees for 18 holes and $35 electric cartÖit was sweltering hot. I was most impressed that the ìbiggest little town in Australiaî can have such a well maintained course Iím used to seeing in Sydney. Fairways and teebeds were smooth and consistently green, however the greens were a little two-paced.

The front nine is flat and open and offers not too many challenges, however the back nine is the most interesting with water and dogleg tree-lined fairways to keep your round honest. Clubhouse though is very old and needs a redevelopment, but you can not ask for too much at this relaxed course. Nice drive from the beaches, so if in the area and have a spare 3 hours give it a go. Not too many members, so the course is usually open for social players and the value is great!

Wow!! I went to Mullumbimby Golf Course for the 2005 Junior Champs expecting nearly a goat track for a small town course. What I was confronted with was a well designed course, with excellent conditions. Alot of the front 9 is fairly boring and flat, but it offers good holes. The back 9 has some beautiful looking holes, with humps and meandering fairways. Green fees are excellent. I would reccomend this golf course to the begginer and scratch golfer alike.

A relatively flat members course that has enough challenge to warrant you to be on your game. A nice diversion from a holiday at Byron. Characterised by relatively small greens and from memory buffalo grass on the fairways, this is not an expensive round.

If you feel like a day away from the beach, this is not a bad way to do it.
