not a fan at all. played in the wednesday comp and left very unhappy. got to the course and we didnt tee off until 30 minutes after our original tee time. played 11 holes in 4 hrs. got to the 3rd tee (played back nine first) and there was a group still playing the hole (par 3) and two groups waiting on the tee. after deliberating about 30 minutes waiting on the tee i thanked my playing partners and called it quits. if i had of continued the round would have taken over 7 hours for a stableford round. this is a disgrace. it wouldn’t matter how good the course is with course management like this.

as for the course it was average at best. very dry. greens were too hard.

i have a brand new set of clubs and are very protective of them and the group behing me just came up when we were waiting on the tee and started grabbing my clubs out of my bag and playing with them. there was no “hi can i have a look at your clubs” very rude members. i’m sure there not all like this but i had contact with a few members due to the delays and didnt find them all that friendly compared to other courses in the area.

A fairly flat seaside links style course set between Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean, south of Newcastle. Well maintained fairways and greens contrast with the coastal scrub and thick tall-grass rough. Plenty of ponds, bunkers, undulating fairways and different shaped holes mean no two shots are alike. Quite spectacular views out over the Pacific Ocean from the holes that border the beach. Excellent value too with green fees as low as $30 at times.

The only weakness (and it’s minor) is the similarity in length of the stretch of holes 6-8. They’re all par 4’s and measure 339m, 347m and 347m, which lends itself to using similar clubs on each. When the wind blows this issue goes away as all bets are off for club selection.

It an be difficult to get on this course on occasion (it is a members course) so give the pro shop a call beforehand.

played belmont with our social club today and i have to say the experience was memorable a week after the big amatuer comp the course was in great condition not a bad lie on the fairways, greens were a good speed and gave a true roll and the bunkers were very consistent, whilst in parts the course was wide open, in parts if you stray of line your in deep @!#$* out of bounds or on the BEACH i thought holes 13, 14, 15, in the top corner of the course were superb whilst the par 3 5th + 12th were a little soft, all up a great experience from the freindly welcome in the pro shop, to the staff in the clubhouse i will certainly be back

The greens at Belmont are now right up there with the best, and shortly will be as good and as fast as they were ten years ago. They are much drier than they used to be but still soft enough to stop a well-struck ball.

Congratulations to Dave, the new head greenkeeper. He really know his stuff.

The 13th has been redesigned following a burnt out Combi van on the green. The green and its bunkers are new and there are now two large fairway bunkers in play on the left. Expect the green to be in play mid to late Dec 05.

A most enjoyable course on which to play.

9th best course in NSW published The Sunday Telegraph. 10th hole is a hole that is so breathtaking you forget that you ar playing golf. Greens are very hard and need improving. Best course for cheap price around NSW and is worth the drive.

This is a top course that is generally in good condition. Being right on the coast the wind can make some holes a lot harder than they appear. A real test for players of all levels.

This course will test your golf. I suggest you play early to beat the wind as in the afternoon you will be playing against it and not the course.

Normally in very good condition.
