Can’t complain for the price and how dry it has been.. The course is under repair and a there are a few holes out of action with some substitute ones (not that crash hot)…

All in all for the price, its great value.. played monday afternoon, not too many on course..

This course is in shocking condition and a disgrace to the Gold Coast golf industry. I visited the pro shop about a week before playing and was informed that the course was in excellent condition so I booked and played on the 8/10/14. What I was presented with was an absolute shock. Tyre tracks and dirt patches feature on all fairways, the majority of bunkers are empty and the greens are dotted with bare patches that make it near impossible to sink a putt. I think I could cut a better hole in my garden! In between the golf holes, gardens and walkways are poorly maintained and don’t look appealing in the slightest. It’s obvious that this establishment is putting more work into their facilities than rescuing what was once a good course. I wouldn’t pay $5 to play this course and suggest with the abundance of great courses on the coast anybody reading this should look elsewhere.

Played a round w/ cart today, and was really happy with the course! Yes, there are a few patches GUR in areas, where they are laying down new drainage, but most of those sandy lines are not in play with a good hit off the tee. Its really good to see how much effort is going into refurbishing the course by the new owners.
A few memorable holes, with pin positioning being pretty tricky today, the wind came into play more than once, with plenty of shots over the water to the pin. Definitely not a boring, straight course to play.
Club house very nicely done, will be back for sure!

PROS

  • Layout, fun course to play!
  • Majority of fairways, really nice, plenty of grass even with no rain.
  • Greens, very fast and CONSISTENT!
  • Beer, nice and cold.

Cons

  • Poor signage for holes, and no map on score card, but easy enough to follow the cart track.
  • The 18th approach over the water took 2 of my balls.

For $10 for 18 walking after 2pm, I suppose the course is definitely worth the money. There are some challenging holes. Course condition nothing to sing about. Fairways are dry and hard at some patches, and nice at some. Tee boxes need some grass. Greens though are generally ok (3.8/5 would be a fair assessment). Bunkers, no problems, seems to have enough sand- at least for the ones I have been to. The 11th hole is a disappointment obviously as it is a temporary hole (i think). Decent condition for a temp hole but prefered the old 11th part 4. Overall I think the course is worth the money, 10 for walking, 15 for cart. I have paid more for crappier. (for this price dont expect there to be course marshalls, and crowd control. This club needs the players otherwise you wont get this cheap price)

Great course and atmosphere at the 19th, 2 negatives I experienced, 1st one; there was no course map or lay out of holes. Made it hard as a first timer having to play some of the holes blind, 2nd one; golf cart ran out of power on the 4th hole, otherwise a great course and will definitely return

First time I played Parkwood since the re-vamp; I was a member & new the old course well. I found the revised course layout very confusing particularly from the new 10th & 11th (short Par 3s); then a long trek to the 12th.The group/s in front of me were equally confused…

What an absolute joke of a course. We got to the first tee and there was 3 groups of 4 playing infront of us, barely able to hit the ball. There was a line up behind us as well of people not following even the most basic dress regulations. Turned around and left, cut my losses of $40 and went to play at Palmer Colonial. Surrounded by actual golfers and beautiful fairways. I will never return to Parkwood. Not worth $19 a round, let alone the ridiculous $55 a head.

The course is in pretty rough condition at the moment. Staff were very rude. Would not pay anything over $30 though. Multiple fairways have g.u.r and nothing seems to be happening to fix. On another note, the course was very easy and short. Plenty of better courses on the coast to try before this!

Course is very dry, but water is kept up to the important parts. Nice staff and you can see that quite a bit is being spent on the place. Being run with a future vision in mind and I’d say will rank higher and higher as the years go on.

This is not the first time I have played here and it certainly will not be the last. I will be a full member very soon. The course is in good condition even though it has so dry lately. What I loved was the high effort that the management and ground staff have put into the course maintenance. The course is not long but it is challenging. The greens are quick and true. Excellent!!!

The course is in quite good condition considering the amount of rounds played on it and some golfers not repairing divots etc. A good soaking rain would be handy. Very good for the special price and we completed our game (2 of us) just before dark with a 2 p.m. hit-off. Would have been back much sooner but for people jumping in on the back nine.
Pro shop staff a little reserved and although very busy could be a bit more welcoming.

Friendly staff, epic course and possibly the fastest greens i’ve ever experienced! With the addition of the new sand, the bunkers should be first class!

Greens were slick and fast and thats what always makes a golf course. Good lay out and im sure with grass on the fairways in the future months it will make for a Picturesq course. Busy place and good practice facilities enjoyed the round

Enjoyable round on a relatively nice course. It wasn’t the flashiest of courses, however, I notice a bit of works and upgrades happening. We played a social game so played preferred lie and I needed that about 30% of the time. I will return and look forward to seeing the changes take hold.

Booked on iseek for a social round with my dad and I. Rocked up to the club house and was told we were partnering up with another 2 singles because of congestion. This was alright by me, however my dad has not got a great golf game and is very self conscious about it so he basically paid $35 for sit in a cart for the whole round. Either inform people before booking that they are going to be paired or don’t overbook the course. As for the course, it was in decent condition but was a bit soggy in places and the par 3 10th is ridiculous, you should not be able to fly it over the back of into water using a sand wedge.

I played sat 7 jun at parkwood for the first time and I was quite happy with the quality if the course. Fairways and greens are both in reasonable condition, nothing too flash but good enough. They could probably do with booking a few less people as it was quite congested at times, but we still managed to get around for 18 in 4.5hrs.
I’ll happily play there again.

Havn’t played Parkwood since the revamp, on first impressions not much had changed. The nines had been swapped around so starting on the old 10th (which had been shortened) all the same holes as before. The next nine is were the revamp had started with a short par 3 to start the back nine(101m)the old first and second holes have gone and the second is the old 3rd hole but played as a long par four teeing off from behind the lake in front of the old 1st green. The rest of the nine is the same except for a new par 3 slotted in between the old 4th and 5th holes. Overall the course condition was good, greens were a little two paced, but at a 3 hour round and $30 a pretty good deal.
Lots going at the course with new buildings going up and greens staff out and about.

Not the best first impression. Didn’t see the drinks cart all round, which was disappointing as we had a group of four, all who wanted a few beers. Very slow round, seen a group of 6 playing a few holes behind us! The bloke at the buggy stand was miserable and couldn’t answer any of my questions or direct us to the first tee. The price was good and the course was okay from the 6th hole onwards. Won’t be back. Overall wasn’t worth the hour drive.

Very nice course Good service the only problem is with tee off groups of four or five I front of one person groups wouldn’t let people play through. I have found 50percent of the people there are very nice but the young guys working on the course are to worried about there looks not so much. Good service. The par threes are shocking. All round the 100 meter mark far to short who wants to be hitting a sand wedge into par threes. Where is the challenge in that also the driving range is good but no chipping and putting greens. Which is crap.

Played on thursday 25/4. Started at 2.10pm. First nine was enjoyable, we were a 2 ball and had to wait a bit for the 3 ball in front but they were not overly slow. Problem for me started in 2nd nine. The 3 ball in front of us left but there were 3 players walking in front, and in front of them was another 3 players walking. They were not in front of us so they must have started on the 2nd nine. This should not be allowed because it slowed down the game tremedously, and we were only able to play 15 holes before it got too dark to see. If not for them we could have actually finished 18 holes in 3 hours 10 min.

Course condition was fair. The tee boxes were patchy (grass and bald patches). The fairways were hard but there were some patches that were extremely soggy.. very weird. The greens though were actually pretty good.

Despite my reservations from previous rounds here we gave it another try since it’s close to home but yet again the place was full of drunks (corporate day perhaps) and the only buggy from the club on the course was not a Marshall but the drinks cart. I’ve never seen a drinks cart so many times in one round so it’s not rocket science where the clubs focus is. With no Marshall’s around we saw a group of 9 players on the second green (3 carts and 3 walkers) – ok so it was early on a Friday afternoon and everyone likes to get away from work early for a game but they really need to keep an eye on how this course is used.
Other than the bedlam of play, the course is in good condition after coring of greens, but I’ not sure how much longer convenience of location is gonna keep winning out over frustration.

I hadn’t played here before and to be honest, the previous reviews almost put me off. But I’m really glad I gave Parkwood the benefit of the doubt. Despite being a very windy day, we enjoyed the course and all of the challenges it throws at you, particularly all the water traps! the fairways were quite hard but generally in good condition. The greens have obviously had serious maintenance recently and will only get better as the year progresses. Staff were polite and helpful and we were not rushed or held up by players. It is such a pleasure to play at your own pace without delays up front or pushing from behind, so that was a bonus. Probably the best value for money course on the south Qld coast at just $25 each through I Seek Golf

Being a local I find this course convenient, but after yesterday’s and other recent debacles I wont be going back.
The club is obviously trying to get maximum number if players in the afternoons when they have their cheap rates but there is ABSOLUTELY NO control of activities on course.
There are increasing numbers of drunken idiots racing around on buggies and taking no notice of the common golfing courtesies.
With numerous groups of up to 7 players in one group there is no way for a single player or pair playing at a standard speed to get past these hackers and the abuse given when they are approached is intimidating.

I been on the coast for along time now and Parkwood is just getting worse and worse. I cant believe they changed the course and got ride of some great holes and filled them in with dismal lackluster 100m par 3s. Seriously since that stupid put put course cam in parkwood is now a goat track. Save yourself the 5hr round on one of the easiest tracks around. The staff were friendly and the course offers good value for money. However, I booked for a 1:00 pm tee time but we ended up teeing off around 30 minutes later due to a big backlog of golfers. Consequently we had a very slow round. The Marshall needs to actively manage slow play. I would go back but not on a Sunday afternoon.

Never disappointed with ’Parky’. The changes they made to the course and general facilities a while ago have made it even better. The course is a moderate challenge and plays very consistently. Good accuracy is rewarded with a potentially good score where going off the fairway lead to a total destruction of the whole round.

Overall, will definitely play here again (but probably only if its less than $40) The course layout is good (although short) and challenging. Would like to see it again when its had some rain and is green, with water in the actual water hazards and drains. At $19 (on a Monday afternoon) it was a bargain, nearly no one on the course and never had to wait for anyone.

Only downside we had was the staff. All except one of them were teenagers and had no idea what they were doing and were slow. We lined up in the pro shop for 15 minutes to check in, when there were only a couple of people in there. Once on the course though, it was great.

Golf Course, Buggies, Etc very Good but the bar & food prices far to pricey.
2 carona stubbies + scooner of mid strength beer over $21, they have got to be joking, this is a disgrace if they think people will pay this price twice.
2 meat pies & a few cans of drink over $46 Another joke that people wont get caught
a second time with.

i love the golf course as challenging and very playable. The course had been over booked (second time they have dome this) and as such five and a half hours to play the round. My game is usually around six over par but because of long waits on tee boxes and even longer waits on each shot on the fairway played nineteen over, was a waste of time and money. We always play a foursome and all agreed not to use the course again, such a shame is great golf course but ruined by management greed.

Not normally one to complain, get the basics right and I’m happy, but I was very disappointed yesterday.

I’ll start with the good. I like the layout, it’s challenging enough and I was excited to go back. The fairways were playing well considering how dry it has been and the tees and greens were good.

Booked for 1:03 tee off. Arrived at 12:30 and were told not to go down for the cart too early. Went to get cart at 12:50 and none were available. A group of four teeing off after us had been given carts, when we did the right thing and waited until just before our tee time. 1:15 we finally get a cart and tee off straight away, only one group behind where we should have been. Didn’t matter though because play ridiculously slow. We combined with another pair and the two pairs in front of us combined and still took 2hrs 35mins for 9. Play did speed up a little as we started the back 9, but we left after 12, we just got sick of waiting at tees.

Oh, and your credit card details are kept in a folder, which is often unattended, at the cart pick-up desk. Poor form. If you need the details or a swipe, fine, but take better care.

Not going back.

Parkwood for $32. On a saturday. I knew what to expect, other than taking 5 hours which I totally understand. The skill level of the weekend golfer is where most would expect it to be hence the slow round. Everyone has the right to have a round . What did piss me off is that when signing for a cart, you must record your licence details and your credit card number ( no doubt thanks to all the bogans who treat the cart as a bush basher, I understand its a cause and effect thing) having played all courses on the Gold Coast and not having to go through this procedure at any other course I feel sorry for the owners of parkwood who because of bogans have found it necassary to implement the measures .
You can tell that they are trying very hard to provide a good product. The course itself is not bad. It was consistent which all golfers want. If the weekend golfing bogan showed some more respect , ahh who am I kidding, bogans and hackers will never change.

The course I haven’t played in at least 15 years so couldn’t remember any of the holes. This a friendly course I call it as you can see a lot of the greens either from the Tee box or after first shot. The thing I would like to see is a little more sign posting. It’s ok, not excellent & not too bad. Have yet to try the mini golf, it does look unique & challenging. Just everytime I play there I can hit the ball up the centre of the fairway & then not find it. The twigs, leaves & reflextion of light off the grass makes it very hard to spot your ball. The course plays fairly well, here & there though there are a number of rough edges, looks like it needs a little more money or care for attention to detail. Almost a very good course but not quite.

I like the renovations to the club house and driving range. The course itself is good with a mixture of hazards but noticed the white tees have been shortened considerably. Hopefully the next upgrade reno will be the paths – all in all enjoyed the day, the course and the cold beer at the 19th – Range balls on the expensive side – will play again.

Its been dry all over but this course needs some water.

From the tees of the day its not long. There are some well placed hazards – making the approaches to some greens difficult. Particularly the 9th and 18th.

Took me a while to realise that 1st used to be the 10th. It confused my GPS.

Played Parkwood a few times over the past month and cant say enough how impressed I am with the course lately. Great layout that offers a challenge off the blue tees. Staff are friendly and always helpful (opposite of Palmer Gold Coast) and driving range is a great place to warm up with a bucket of balls. Growing up on the Mornington Peninsula I was spoiled with great courses like The Dunes, Eagle Ridge and Portsea and while Parkwood isnt of the same quality its equally as enjoyable.

Played for the 2nd time Sunday in a social club. Great design & structure of holes. Really like the course. It seems at some stage it was decided to not repair lob marks and some of the greens look like the surface of the moon. Bunkers were mostly hard brown dirt. If more attention was paid to trimming around the edges of hazards and repairing green damage and putting some sand in the bunkers it would be a whole lot better. Would still recommend as the fairways were great and staff helpful.

Play was slow at times since we tee’d off in the afternoon. I love the layout of this course, good for all levels of golf. Condition of fairways has been let go a bit but the layout still makes it an enjoyable day.

Facilities at the course are wonderful. However, the course needs to keep pace with the upgrades too. The increase in green fees are not justified yet, given the condition of the course. Interesting, challenging layout – always a pleasure to play. Needs a course marshall to regulate slow play though – had a group of senior members ahead of us who insisted on playing a "five-ball" and off the back tees too!

Had played the front 9 before but in rain. (wasn’t fun) Went back, this time in great weather & did the 18. For the $20 each my friend & I paid, we agreed it was excellent value & the course was in great nick. Highly recommend it, & will be back for sure. Friendly pro shop staff, only saw the drinks cart as we were heading for the first tee & it looked like we were going to be held up as it was moving a little slow. But quickly we were invited to play through. Overall a good day out.The mini golf course looks fantastic & will have to try it. Really amazing !

This is a good value for money course at $29 but is not in the best condition. The greens are variable which can be very frustrating. The fairways are very wet on a number of the lower lying hole. Lost 2 balls to drives in the middle of the fairway that plugged and were never to be seen again. The staff are great and very helpful but the range was closed so no chance of a warm up. Hopefully the rain will calm down to allow the course to dry out when it will play a lot better.

We played a foursome on Sunday 14th July and was the longest round of golf I have played in twenty years. Way way way to many people on the course (could it be greed for the wholly dollar?) and as such unlikely that I will play again on a weekend. Course is in bad repair and very very wet, lots of water still laying in greenside bunkers. Clear to see that money is not being spent on the course and that is a shame as this could be an awesome course to play in better condition. No one listens but at least I have told you of the problems oh,, and marshalls, what marshalls, three groups playing in front of us had five players playing and one had six, so slow.

Played the course on Fri 12, great staff n assistance from Pro Shop. Agree there should be Marshalls on course for our Asian visitors! Great course n layout, greens a little challenging (different speeds!) – was a bit wet in some areas – but still very playable. Cart tracks really need to be fixed ASAP – golf carts are not 4wd toys! Still great value for $ and worth the visit. I will becoming back again.

we played on a thursday and got around in well under 4 hrs, the course is in really good condition considering the recent rain. the only downside would be the 2nd and 3rd greens which had been recently cored and the duck shit on a few others.
all in all it was an enjoyable round with plenty of challenges for players of our ability.
the food in the cafe was a bit overpriced for what you get, but the layout with the view over the course was very nice.

Thought I would chuck in a members review, totally unbiased of course. The heavy rain in the last couple of months has had the course looking very green and lush. Greens were cored last February and then caned with rain straight away for 7-10 days straight. They are only now coming up to their best and apart from the 2nd & 8th are in good nick. The yukka plants as distance markers mentioned in another review are about to be scrapped and replaced with posts the same as on the tee boxes. It is a slow process getting the course back from the neglected course it was 3 years ago, but, I reckon it’s well on the way.

Course in reasonable nick, great value, great day but a bit slow so we played the front twice as the back was 10 min wait at each tee from what we could see. Please put proper yard markers and get rid of those ridiculous shrubs, golf is hard enough without having to guess distances, this is the only course I have ever played with these shrubs and sorry but it does not work, bad idea, get rid of them and move on.

Excellent course, a good challenge. The Tee boxes are bumpy and uneven.

I have played at Parkwood twice now, and unlikely to play there again. I find it expensive and way too busy. I was always waiting for the players in front (AVG 5 – 10 min), and the players behind are always waiting for me. At one hole there were 3 groups playing the same hole.

Pity because I quite enjoyed the course.

Very disappointed in this course, paid $45:00 per player today. I feel a little ripped off as the course was in poor condition. Greens were bumpy, patchy and furry. Tee areas were very uneven. Rude members, I was yelled to take my hat off to enter the cafe before I had even got to the door. Poor food choice at both the club house and pro shop, had the choice out of either 1 pie or 1 sausage roll at pro shop, upstairs I was charged $40:00 for 2 sandwiches 2 small hot chips and 2 drinks. If you have a choice of courses check the condition of this place before you pay good money for a substandard course. 2 STARS max…..

Played on 23/2/13. Staff were friendly. The fairways were in ok condition but the greens were awful!!! However, in their defence they did advised the greens were cored on the Monday. We teed off at 3.15pm so was not expecting to be held up and was expecting to fit 9 holes in easily….we were bitterly disappointed! It was really slow play and we waited on average 5mins to tee off on each hole!! Then we had to wait on average 4 mins on the fairway for the group of 2 ahead of us to finish (who had to also wait the same time at each hole for the groups ahead of them!!)!! It was a loooong afternoon. They really should have had a course marshall to speed up play.
Overall, friendly staff but would not be back to play cos we could not even play 9 holes with the slow play and no course marshall.

I found it not a bad course I was unlucky to play the course after quite a bit of rain so it was a bit wet , and the greens had been sanded and a bit wet to ( adds to the challenge of putting :) apart from the wetness and greens it would be a beautiful course , I found the price great and there wasent many out the , but there is one thing they need to improve on is distance markers , needs to be more than a plant because on some of the holes couldn’t find any

Parkwood International is a very accessable and affordable course attracting golfers of all standards. Two-thirds of the course has water in play and often a hazard will run the entire length of the hole. The course presentation is fairly standard and not necessarily what you’d expect at an ’international’ course. The driving range, pro shop and clubhouse facilities are first class, however, the course just lets itself down with some scrappy bunkers and the use of yucca plants as 100m and 150m markers. Not surprisingly, they’re usually hard to spot. A bit of rain and a tidy up around bunkers and drains and this place would be top notch. The current online deals are great value and wouldn’t last if this was to happen. Overall, the par 71 layout is quite interesting, poses lots of questions and demands plenty of accuracy off the tee and approaching the greens. Nice atmosphere and well worth a hit if you’re on the coast.

The game was slow and came to a complete stop when we can across 3 first time players hitting between 15-30m per shot. I love Parkwood. I’ve been playing there since I was 8 years old. However whilst the recent renovations and changes to the course are of high quality, I miss the old layout and feel of the course. I don’t like how they changed the back nine to the front nine. The front nine (formerly the back nine) are much nicer holes, and therefore it is much better to save these holes til the end. In addition having three par 5s on the front nine and 1 on the back nine makes for a disjointed round. In spite of the fact I miss the old Parkwood, it is still a brilliant course and club. The staff are brilliant, and the members are very friendly to visitors to the course (unlike some other places).

Shambles upon arrival and the start, which spoilt the first couple of holes. First nine was interesting; second nine less so. Some of the construction mess and rubish in the ponds needs cleaning up before it could be considered an "international" course. And some GPS systems (eg. Garmin) need updating all the device gives accurate distance reading. I played of the black "championship" tees but they were not very challenging.

We used to be able to tee off at 1300 for $19 now its after 1400 and I am guessing in the coming weeks it will be later and later. Not sure why as it is $29 before then and there was no one else on the course but appears they are getting greedier which always happens. One note to all golf courses on the Goldie, lift your game, there are plenty of places in Aussie where people can play and get good service, the service at GC golf courses can only be described as CRAP!

The course configuration now is well below their stated 6000m+ championship course at barely 5400m unless your a champion and it’s 5788m. Lack of sighting drink cart on a comp day was also noted!

played on Melbourne Cup day – course was pretty much empty, so had a great day with no waiting. Whilst there are a couple of places where the course is in poor condition, you can see how hard the staff are working to improve these areas (this is my third round in the last 4 weeks at this course). This is a great course to play, with some lovely holes and some cleverly designed challenges. A most enjoyable golfing experience.

played here a few times now and not sure why I’ve been back… slow slow slow… course marshalls do nothing when they are around. greens are patchy. a lot of renovations still going on. if you decide to play, make sure you have a whole day free. saw two groups walk off the course because they got too frustrated.

Had to play by myself, despite the fact that when I booked on line, the booking list indicated that there was just one spot left at that particular time slot, so it was fair for me to assume that I was completing a foursome. Having driven 1600 kilometers with my golf clubs for a golfing holiday, this was am major disappointment. I would not have booked this game if I had known knew that I was going to have to play by myself, I may have well just gone to a driving range. If that was not bad enough, the course was in a very poor condition and I was stuck behind several slow groups. Gave up after 9 holes, never to return!!!

Played here on sunday of queens birthday long weekend with 2 mates.Course layout was great with many challenging holes. Some greens were not up to the standard of other greens on the course . The same with Tee’s.The pro was rude to us for accidentally taking the wrong cart which was parked in wrong numbered bay, However the rest of the staff were fantastic and eager to help and make us feel welcome.Facilities were the best i have seen at a public course with great driving range / practice area and an amazing putt putt course.

Price is ok but it was very overbooked with no no-one from the course around to show many groups of inexperienced young guys how to speed up play. Play very slow with long waits between green and tee. Layout an condition was fine the price. Great course for locals. One of the staff members was a full douche bag.

Played 10th October. The new facilities are outstanding. A few of the greens need work, but, seeing as how they have spent a lot of money on the facilities, it is understandable. My brother and I played Gainsborough Greens yesterday and out of the two courses my brother liked Parkwood better. Brilliant practice facilities apart from a putting green.

Im a member of Coolangatta but i play parkwood regularly and find the course layout really enjoyable. There are drivable par 4’s reachable par 5;s and some really tough par 4;s also. A few greens are quite poor and some are really good. But for the money you pay it is great value. Also they are improving all the time. For 19 or 25 dollars on iseek there isnt any better value for an afternoons round of golf.

Although one pays a premium to play on a Sunday morning, if you tee off early enough, you seem to have the course to yourself. The course is in superb condition, a huge improvement from what it was over a year ago. Greens are straight and true. Still undergoing refurbishment, and better signposting is needed.

185. wooly17 | Rated | 08 Oct 2012 | Add A Review

Very friendly staff and an average course. I went expecting plush fairways and slick greens but what I got was an average course, untidy fairways and unplayable bunkers as they were rock hard. Good value if you pay around $50 with cart but I wouldn’t pay any more. 7/10

186. kiterman | Rated | 07 Oct 2012 | Add A Review

for a cost of $35 inc. cart was a value buy, however the course condition warranted the low cost – 8 greens in very poor condition; fairways below average (to be fair no rain in this region for a month); pro shop assistance at check-in UNHELPFUL, particularly with buggy allocation – we tried 4 buggies before getting a working one. Staff (of 4) did not leave shop to offer assistance; 2 other groups had similar issues.
This course is undergoing refurbishment so in the future it may be better but still only a mid priced course at best.

Played on Thursday (04/10) following 5 months away from this course. The new layout is a big improvement and the minigolf looks great! Once all the refurbishment works are completed it will be a good course. The greens still require improvements but at least it is now faster than I remembered. Hopefully it retains it value of money following completion.

A lot of changes to the course over recent months which has changed the layout and has improved the drainage and athsteic appeal although some holes such as the new par 3’s seem a little short. The greens were not at their best but all in all a good deal at $29 with a cart. I would check what state the greens are in before I play there again. The changes to the club house are fantastic and they are continuing to develope the hole area including clubhouse and driving range.

Course still in the midst of a major refurbishment with a revised layout (the back nine is now the first nine etc.) with some new holes as well. Not adequately signposted, and requires a little more maintenance, especially the greens. Drinks cart was nowhere to be seen.
On the plus side, the layout is challenging, with may tight, narrow fairways. Not every hole a driver hole.

I had one of my best rounds ever at Parkwood yesterday, the course is going to be looking very good once it’s all finished. Overall fairways were very good, tee boxes very good. Greens were recently cored and sanded over the top which was annoying, but nevertheless if you can 2 putt you will have no excuses. I hadn’t played at Parkwood since the massive redevelopment. I was highly impressed by the size and presentation of the Pro Shop. There is still work being done but I could clearly see the attention to detail and effort that has gone in to enhancing the whole set up.

The new holes were very nice and the change in layout of the course I found to be better balanced than before. The two friends I played with hadn’t played there before and play quality golf off low handicaps and they found it challenging enough, the greens were fast and the rough thick enough to make them nervous.

8/10 with where it’s at, still work going on I’m expecting great things!

The day we played was overcast with showers – this we expected from forecasts. However I rang the course prior to leaving Brisbane to check if the course was open as it had been reported that there was considerable rain on the Gold Coast leading upto today’s game – the response back was the course was wet but playable.

To say the course was wet is a gross understatement – it was saturated "every where" eg two of the greens were unplayable, they were completely covered with a thin layer of "still" water.

The course should have been CLOSED.

Due to the copious amount of rain that we’ve had on the gold coast, I rang to change my booking to Tuesday. I was told that it was non-transferable unless the course was closed. This is a social/family venue but not much on offer for serious golf. While the new putt-putt complex is a kid’s dream the course proper is a "work in progress". Even for a Friday the pace of play was agonizingly slow. This was further exacerbated by members taking a lunch-break after the ninth and then abusing golfers wishing to play through.

The greens are still in poor condition due to maintenance, but im sure after a few weeks it should come good. A nice easy Par 3 to begin with, water on the left to play on your opening tee shot. Overall course layout was friendly with generous fairways and reachable par 4s and 5s. The front 9 is easier with the back 9 presenting a much sterner test. Unfortunately we played on a soggy course, which held up remarkably well given the massive downpour the night before.

Allowing for the fact that the greens were being cored and will no doubt be restored in several weeks the overall of the rest of the course was in quite poor condition.

After so much rain Parkwood has stood up as well as many of the higher class courses on Gold Coast. The worst i could say is that rough was uncut but was informed by the superintendant, who was very approachable, that there rough mower had broken down but also commented that he has recently started a weed spraying program which is badly needed to purify the course, therefore he could not cut certain areas untill the chemical had taken affect on weeds. He seemed extremly dedicated and enthusiastic. Greens were slow but was expecting that due to moist conditions. Keep up the good work Parkwood.

Aparently they were from the veterans group – but these ’gentlemen’ were wasting time, looking for extra balls, chatting in groups – even after being asked to speed up thier play by the course official.

They play every Thursday – SO AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE or you will have a horrible and frustrating game.

Whilst it was very wet when we played, the course held up reasonably well. The staff were friendly and we had to reschedule our days due to poor weather. Facilities are great and the recent investment dollars will bring return golfers for sure.

The course was somewhat wet, but all workers were pleasant and wanting to assist. Building into an interesting challenging course, but I need to introduce more golfers to it as they wish to travel further South to Tweed etc, but miss out on this little gem

Not impressed, booked 18 holes with carts for 4 people, turned up and got told we could only play the back 9 and had to walk even though we had payed for carts.I understand they can’t control the weather but they should not let you book and pay for a cart if you can’t use them, massive waste of money, would never go back.

Clubhouse, carts, food and service were all first class. The front 9 i found to be in quite a poor condition with greens very small. I also found it frustrating that the card distances didnt match the hole distance (especially on the short par3 second) Also boards showing distance at the tee were missing on most holes.

The back 9 i found to be in very good condition, greens were alot better.

I also found that around the greens were very flat and subsequently pretty easy to navigate if you were just off the green.

Played a good round. I enjoyed the course. The staff were great, could not have asked for better service. Linked up with some members that were very friendly. Play was a little slow, but slower groups allowed us to play threw. The club house looks great and the new owners look like they are spending alot on upgrades, inc mini golf for the kids. The course is next for the upgrade once the clubhouse and amenities are finished. Plays a little hard in the ground surface, but good run if on fairway. I would definitely recommend this course, especially in a few months time.

Course in poor condition. Course being renovated but lack of imagination in hole design and fairways in very poor condition. Work required to tidy the course up and more money needs to be spent. Seems to be lack of trees and lack of maintenance. Clubhouse is being done up and lot of timber is the theme. May come good in the future perhaps but not very good in comparison to other gold coast courses.

Course was in overall good condition. I was playing on my own and it took the hackers in front of me 9 holes to ask me to play through after riding up their arse hole after hole. Rubbish. There is no courtesy whatsoever on this course. Some degenerate picked up my ball which was just in the treeline on an adjacent hole. Other than the tiny 4th hole green (diseased and had to be made into a makeshift green) the rest of the course was fine. Please have the Staff advise ALL players of how long it should take to finish 18 holes before their tee time

I played the course about 6 months ago and was super impressed with the quality of the greens and fairways. The clubhouse, pro shop and mini golf are beautiful however I believe that the course has suffered because majority of funds appear to have been allocated to clubhouse etc rather than course. The greens are still very good although not at the standard they were 6 months ago and the fairways are not even close to the carpet like standard they were 6 months ago. The course is definitely not international standard but having said that, very enjoyable and I will return as the cost through iseekgolf.com is great value.

Played here on the public holiday on the 3rd of January. Tee off booked for 12.20pm.

Upon arriving at 12 we were told we were going to be in a group with another two people. By the time we got down to the first tee at 12.20pm after eating some lunch the other two people were not to be seen, I believe they had teed off with someone else, which was fine by us.

Problem was everyone starting on the 1st which is a par 3, always a problem (albeit only because the hole is being worked on). The second hole is a par 3 as well so we were waiting for two groups to go before even teeing off.

The pace was horrendously slow with a ten minute wait at least it seemed on each hole. Could not play through because there were so many groups in front. Wasn’t helped by the fact that one group in front spent ten minutes searching for lost balls when they sprayed it wide (a lot!!).

Not a single marshall the entire time to speed things up. Which was the only big dissapointment.

Great course however. Bunkers need more sand but that’s not too much an issue. Course has some good challenges, can be forgiving as well. Will go back if I can get another good priced round.

I’ve played at Parkwood several times but yesterday was my first time in about 8 weeks and I love what the guys have done with the place. The greens were just about perfect whereas some were patchy six months ago. The new clubhouse and pro shop are very professional and I hope the new Putt Putt course becomes popular with the locals.
For $25 plus a cart, this course (despite it previous and existing renovations) is an absolute bargain. Anyone who says otherwise simply has too high a standards for golf!!
The only negatives I have would be that some of the tee off areas need relaying (5th & 7th are very uneven) and the bunkers still need a lot of work – actual sand would help..

PROS

  • Greens are near perfect, clubhouse and pro shop are top quality and drink cart was seen for first time in ages!

Cons

  • Certain tee off areas, bunkers with dirt rather than sand in them

booked through i seek and very disappointed in conditions as stand. you have to be thier on time but they can delay your tee off to suite them( 30 minutes later) and the play as slow as a turtle. And also with 2 par 3 at start makes it even worse.

Well funny how this is going to be negative and opposite to all of the other recent reviews, however here we are.Having booked a round via iseek,we arrived on time to find that everyone was going off the first tee,we then had to wait approx 5 to ten mins at every hole to tee off, fine however when it takes approx 3.5hrs to do nine holes i find that a little hard to swallow. Having mentioned that back at the pro shop, the answer was look at how much you paid, where my answer was that was what was on offer. all well and good to offer cheapish deals when you have a cattle parade happening i guess, one way to re-coupe some money.

Our group of 4 played this course on 29th and had an enjoyable round.
As GC locals Parkwood is our normal pick due to locality, great price, course layout and condition.
The layout provides a challenge for most golfers with variable wind conditions.
Congrats to the new management team for the ongoing changes to the amenities and course, this will be a great venue when complete.
The only criticism our group has is that when we finished [7pm] the club had closed so we didn’t get to sit back and have a few beers and unwind at the 19th!
Maybe a course marshal to keep the play moving could be looked at.
Overall a great course and facilities for locals and visitors.

They are doing some serious renovation to the Club House and course. There is a lovely garden and pavilion being built. The 1 St hole had a temporary tee. Pro shop staff was friendly. I can tell that by mid 2012, the Golf Course will look great.

If anyone wants to experience it at a reasonable price, this is time to do it. However, I would want another game when all renovations are done. The course will look amazing when it’s properly maintained.

Had played the Parkwood International a month or two prior and admittedly, I did not think the course was unpleasent, however after a bit of rain, a mate and I attacked it mid week, and we were extremely impressed with it!

The fairways were firm for length off the tee, but soft enough to take a divot on your second or approach. The greens were really speed cosistent throughout the 18 and yet soft enough to attack the flag! However some of the Tee’s could have been a little nicer, but taking the good with the bad, it is easy to ignor their condition in comparrison to the rest of the course.

Overall a fantastically set out course with a few great challenges! Distancing your shots on this course is a must to break even!!!

Plenty of work happening on the golf course looks as though ground staff are building new greens and there seems to be alot of unfinished projects. maybe they should finish one project before starting another. major improvements though. Fairways looked and played great. Greens were consistant. Staff were friendly but did not see a Marshall all round (some very slow play). When all work is finished this course could have the potential to be one of the best on Gold Coast.

After a lot of rain in the 2 days beforehand this course held up really well. Greens were playable but not great. Ball did spend some time in the air while travelling to hole. I enjoyed the variety of holes with trees and water in play.

Had 42pts so happy with my golf which always makes the course enjoyable.

BUT we had our soft drinks taken off us mid-round because we were not allowed to take any form of drinks on the course. Alcohol I completely understand but the course marshall told us it means everything- soft drinks, bottles of water. I checked the scorecard, looked for a sign in the proshop and outside and also checked the club’s website but saw and read nothing stating this policy.

Now the soft drinks taken off us were already open so instead of asking us to finish them and not to open any more they just took them straight from us. All we took was 4 cans of coke (1 each) and a bottle of water.

This left us stunned and quite ticked off for the rest of our round and we definitely won’t be returning to this course.

Absolutely ridiculous policy/rule as every other course I have played at the Gold Coast has been fine with us taking a can of soft drink onto the course.

What a disappointment! We had breakfast in a lovely club house over looking the course, seeing water everywhere the course looked picturesque. It was a different story when we got on the course, if you enjoy hitting putts and the ball be in the air longer than its on the ground then your looking at the right course. This course was disgraceful and wouldn’t pay money to play there again. The perfect social course for people that have never played before.

I have played at Parkwood 1/2 a dozen times in the last 3 years. In the past i have seen this course in great shape, and more recently it has been, well,,,, below average. After not coming back for nearly 12 months until now, i was greatly surprised to see some new direction. The Clubhouse has been renovated and looks fantastic. New Electric Carts, but most of all there’s plenty of action going on out on the course. Applause to the new owners, this course is coming back to it’s former glory.
Golf wise, if you play off the championship tee’s, it’s a great layout. Plenty of obstacles like water and tree’s cutting into the driving zones and greens area’s. The greens are good and fair to putt on.
If you are playing off the whites and hit a long ball, theres a good chance you will reach all the par 5’s in 2.

I play golf every weekend between the Gold and Sunshine coast and am lucky enough to play the best courses. If you want value for money, and a chalenge, i can recomend Parkwood to any Golfer. Well done Parkwood for bring this gem back to life.

PS It’s great time to join !

Great course. Great little cafe. All very helpful and the views are terrific. Some players moan about the wet condition in some areas. Haven’t they noticed we’ve had a tremendous amount of rain in the last few months (years). Parkwood are spending money and time trying to alleviate the problem.

I’ve played this course many times before. They layout is fantastic, the greens were extremely fast which I loved, however there was an awful lot of wet areas. Considering we hadn’t had rain in at least 2 weeks, I expected the course to be a lot dryer. If you stick to the fairways you’ll generally be fine, but even some fringes of greens had about an inch of water, and there’s no way you’re getting your ball through it.

I’ve played at Parkwood five times since February and I have absolutely no complaints about the staff, the layout and certainly not the price. The brand new carts are excellent and the clubhouse is of really good quality.

However, after playing there three times in the past 6 weeks, I was really hoping for little things to be improved, especially in the past two weeks with our perfect weather.

The eleventh & seventeenth hole greens still need a lot of work as they look anything but the colour "green". Both greens are next to each other so I can only assume the drainage in that area of the course is quite poor. Somehow miraculously I managed to birdie the 17th hole, despite the green being in poor condition.

The most frustrating thing I found when I played last week is that two bunkers in particular (the 4th & 16th), was like hitting off dirt (which cost me up to four shots). I would expect after the $1 million dollar refurbishment spent on the course, some of it would at least be spent on fixing all of the bunkers..

The only other complaint was that some of the tee-off areas looked ready to be played on, however we still had to hit off some lopsided tee-off areas instead which made it impossible to get feet placement the way one would want it, in order to feel comfortable when teeing off.

My rating is a 3.5/5 but by fixing these little areas, the course, when it hasn’t had a lot of rain could be given a 4.5 at best.

PROS

  • Staff
  • Layout, Most Greens, Golf Carts, Clubhouse

Cons

  • Some tee-off areas, the 4th & 16th bunkers, the 11th & 17th greens

Really unimpressed. Drinks cart was non existent (on a Sunday!)- the girl was zig zagging all over the course, so she missed us every time.

The course marshal (a polite young kid) did nothing to keep the slow movers going. This caused a massive backlog that made it a 5 hour round.

The course lacks proper drainage so the whole thing was still soggy from the rain a week before.

Course was passable overall, but suffered from the massive digging and drainage efforts throughout the whole course. Most of the first nine was waterlogged and muddy. The tee boxes were in dreadful condition on almost every hole, but the fairways were quite good and the greens were great.

Service was great to get on the course, and a big plus was that the drinks cart was going round all day. Unfortunately, the marshall did nothing to speed up a couple of very slow groups who did not call faster and smaller groups through. It’s very hard when there is a four ball in front with one of their kids playing almost full holes in addition.

The iSeek green fee of $45 (inc cart) is probably on the high end of fair for this experience, but not excessive.

A lovely course overall. However, it was waterlogged despite no rain for 2 weeks. Thus, we couldn’t use the carts off the actual tarmac track. This slowed the game down to walking speed and as a result there were three groups playing each hole – all just waiting for the ones in front to move on.

It was very dangerous – we almost got hit three times because the people behind us were very aggressive and impatient at the slow pace. It is not a nice environment to play golf in when the pace moves so slowly and it is so crowded.

It took us 4.5 hours to get through 12 holes ! By then it was dark so we left, but we paid for the full 18. Not a nice system really.

I would play there again on a day when there were no other people holding us up in front and hurrying us from behind, as the course was good and the carts worked well. It is great value.

PROS

  • Lovely course, not too much water

Cons

  • Crowded, dangerous, frustrating, waterlogged, construction happening.

We played on saturday 7/5/2011 and the club could not have done more to make us feel welcome . The course was in good condition considering the amount of rain the coast has had. The only issue was the drainage work has left piles of dirt on the fairway edges , if you hit them your in trouble . Greens ran straight as an arrow all day . You can have confidenece from 12 feet the straight put will find the hole . we will be back when it dries out.

My first time I have played at this course and our group of three had a great day despite the showers. Lots of good and bad golf and many laughs. The course is great and very interesting, likes swallowing up my golf balls in the water. Never mind we had a good day and will be play again as soon as we can. The staff were very friendly and we felt so welcome. Food was excellent.

I’ve played at parkwood golf course a few times in the last couple of months and I’ve been very impressed with the overall layout course condition and value for money, it’s not an overly long course but there are a few nice par 5’s. I’ve played on several courses around the coast and I find none are more enjoyable than parkwood..I highly recommend it and will be playing there again soon.

They are doing some great work improving the course but it was very slow around the back nine due to them allowing the veterans to hit off while we played the front nine.

Apart from dampness on course the greens and fairways are excellent. The changes being made by the new owners are definately heading in the right direction. We had a enjoyable round and will return to see what further improvements are made in the future.

i have played this many times and was really happy with the course. After the recent rain the course was overly wet and it struggled to maintain all the excess water. My opinion – dont play this course if it has had a decent down-pour! i would have cancelled my game but would have lost the $$$ i had already paid – that is the downside to paying for a game of golf on iseekgolf.com……

Played there on Monday the 28th of Feb. The course was nice, but some of the fairways had a few bare patches, and the greens ran at different speeds. I usually play Emerald Lakes for $34, and we played Parkwood for $29. Comparing the two, Emerald is much more worthy of the money, for the quality of the course, but it was good to play somewhere different.
We arrived 10 minutes early of our teetime though, and there was a group of 7 members waiting at the first tee, who graciously allowed us to play before them. Had no problems as far as waiting goes, there was never anyone directly behind or infront of us until we lost track of time finding a ball and had a single player catch up to us.
I’d say Monday arvo is probably the best time to go.

May or may not be back…

The pro shop were extremely helpful and let all of my friend and I play together even though we all booked seperately on iseekgolf. The course itself was very interesting, good length holes, creative layout. The greens had just been under some refurbishment and were a little bumpy but we were warned about that before booking a round.

Will be back there for sure.

Course generally in good condition. Greens under repair allowing a large discount.
The booking system of Iseekgolf however allowed a bookinbg to be made at 8.55am which in fact was in the midst of a crossover of Veterans weekly play and resulted in a significant delay to tee off time of over 40 minutes. The staff handled the delay poorly.

Overall I had a great day at Parkwood Int. The member i played with was a nice guy and the other members i met were also great/friendly.
Tee blocks and greens needed some work and improvements, fairways were in good nick.
Have to be straight or be prepared to go through a few balls. Good layout.
If i was staying on the coast i would look at joining. Seems like a good friendly club.

Pro shop staff were very friendly; confirmed booking all ok;started on time for tee off(which does not always happen at other courses); course was still wet in places following extensive rain over past 3 weeks but quite playable;Parkwood is a very deceptive course – not long but lots of interesting features and plenty of water hazards.

Course was great considering the rain. Very good layout and challanging with some exciting holes to test the brave off the tee.

We had a great time out there with very friendly members which was great, but i must say that the marshall on the day needs to pull his head in. His attitude was rubbish and how he talked down to my playing partner (who was only young but a good player) was uncalled for.

Otherwise a very good day.

Played here for the first time. A Christmas break up for work. After check in, went to tee off and was told I couldn’t play as wasn’t wearing a collared shirt. I was in dress shorts and a neat tee shirt; the other guys were in correct shirts. (I hadn’t played before). I was told I had to wear the correct shirt or couldn’t play. Was told I could purchase one for around $6. Now $6 isn’t the real issue, it was handled very poorly. Understanding NOW that there is a very strict dress code, I would have offered to give someone a cheap shirt just to keep the group happy, as they were paying customers. (If it was me). As it happens one of the guys had an old smelly shirt with a collar, in the boot of his car, so I put that on (out of spite). Now we played, and we purchased lunch and several beverages during the day. I wouldn’t put that extra income at risk for the sake of a ($6 retail) shirt! We could of and nearly did take the whole group somewhere else. To add insult to injury, we saw a lady wearing a grey singlet with NO collar, just a couple groups ahead of us. But hey, she didn’t get asked to leave!! There is NO double standards here!!
To the manager: DON’T forget, there is a lot of other golf courses on the Gold Coast. You shouldn’t assume that everyone that comes to play golf knows all the dress codes as there is always going to be a first time for someone to play. Maybe you should have offered a free shirt! You just don’t know who you are turning away and especially what potential customer you could have kept.

The fairways were in good nic, and the course is presented rally well. A couple of good dog-legs for players like me that like to spray their drives right, don’t know if I would like to live on the 3rd, good morning! (sorry)
There’s a nice amount of water and bunkers around the course although the bunkers were still hard from last weeks rain, so hard we were able to putt out of them. The greens are fairly flat but still, if you cant putt, they cost you shots.
The staff were great, walked in with booking number and teed off 2 mins later, very easy.
An enjoyable round made simple by iseekgolf, cheers.

PROS

I played at Parkwood on Sunday the 12/09/2010. We had a group of 7, so 2 tee times. We hit off on time and didn’t get held up at all. The greens were cored a week earlier but we knew this as Parkwood had a notification on Iseek prior to booking. As a twice a month golfer I found the golf course both challenging, and rewarding. The only problem we had was we we looking for the marshall all day as the groups in front held us up the whole round. We waited on every hole and instead of taking 4 hours 15 or so, it took us 5 hours to complete the round. I noticed that about 3 groups in front were a whole hole behind and did not seem to try and make up time.
Other than that we played alright and will return as I do like the course for the price I paid.

Parkwood International is not long but challenges with water in play on many holes. Very enjoyable layout and excellent value. We played mid week immediately before the members competition and finished inside four hours. Members hit up on us twice in the first seven holes – a distint lack of courtesy, especially considering the speed at which we were playing.

I was very dissapointed with my last round at Parkwood. We arrived ten minutes before our tee time to find eight groups lined up waiting to tee off. Needless to say, we teed off late. The grounds were in sad shape, and the round took nearly six hours to complete.

A course of this low quality, and with this poor time management should not be charging this kind of money for a round. Comparable courses are in the $13 – $17 range in this area, and would be more appropriate.

In the future, I won’t be ruining my weekend with a round at Parkwood

Parkwood offers a pleasant experience at great value. The diversity of the terrain keeps the golf interesting. It’s not as "glamorous" as many local courses, but is very playable. The dead vegetation waste in the non playing areas is a detraction. Would be better to remove it, but if they had those expenses, it might no longer be as well priced.

Parkwood International was a nice course. We had only one issue really and that was the amount of people playing the course which slowed the game down. There was a line up of three groups waiting to tee off at the time that we were to tee off and then the game was very slow from there on in. In the end we only got to play nine holes that afternoon instead of 18 holes as we were suppose to tee off at 1:35pm but with the line up and the slowness of the amount of people playing the course by 4:30 we had only completed 9 holes and the sun was starting to go down. We had two groups waiting on most tees each time. But other then that the staff were nice and the course was in good condition. :)

Good course, not too hard not too easy, greens were in ok to good condition. The biggest problem in this course for me was the noise pollution; dogs barking in the nearby houses, loud music in the nearby houses, major maintenance on the day I was playing in.

Played on Monday 31st May had a great day but course was very wet again after some rain. This continues to be a problem as the course is very soggy after rain and I would have to say I probably would’t play again if there had been any rain within the 3days prior otherwise a reasonable course, staff at Pro shop very friendly and easy to chat too.

Very dissapointed to tee-off at 1.30 and not finish the round, considering there was only two of us (low h/c’s) and we were in a cart.

Way to many on course!

Finished on the 15th after waiting at every tee and atleast 4 players behind us. On the drive back to the clubhouse saw atleast 5 other groups on the 16th, 17th and 18th trying to finish in the dark!

Good course to play on little challenging at times but still not to bad for the novices like myself, lots of fairway to hit and rough is quite short if you stray.

The overall appearance of the course from the elevated clubhouse was very attractive. The fairways were well grassed and the greens in good condition. However, the tees were generally narrow and humped in the centre making it difficult to locate a level teeing ground. The course infrastructure (cart paths etc), in places, was in need of repair and tended to distract from the pleasing environment. Parkwood represents good value when compared with other courses on the Coast. I look forward to becoming a member soon.

Hadn’t played this course for a good 18 months as I was not impressed with its condition on my last round there. I am very glad to say that the change of management has brought a BIG change in standard of the entire course as well as the professionalism and friendliness you are greeted with by the guys in the Pro Shop upon arrival. Greens were great(fast)and fairways condition was the same. Could not fault the course. Will definately be playing this one a lot more often. Well done to the NEW team at Parkwood.

What a lovely course. It’s well laid out with water lurking on lots of holes. Tee boxes could have been a bit tidier, greenstaff were busy all over the course. Big downside on our round was we arrived before our tee time but nobody seemed to going at their allotted time, hence we got stuck behind Ian Woosnam, Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson…..at least that is who they thought they were as they took 20 practice swings before, and after, every shot which usually bobbled 50m down the fairway with the divot which never got replaced.

All good from start to finish. Friendly and efficient service. Well laid out course. Good length. Testing at times but generally accommodating of the higher handicap player who doesn’t want to spend half his time searching for lost balls. Great value for money.

Good value course with a nice layout that really rewards good shots with some easy to reach Par 5’s and faily reasonable approaches on most holes. Only problem I found was 7min tee time spacing with no official starter. Tee of at 1:21 and unable to finsh 18 holes due to light (called after 15) and a 5-7 min wait at every tee box for the group ahead.

Played Anzac Day holiday 2010 for $29 via iseek. Only got 14holes starting at 2pm due to very busy course. A lot of waiting.
Fairly simple layout, tree lined fairways with little rough beneath so not a major disadvantage being wayward. Small bodies of water make it interesting, but not too difficult. Not a lot of bunkers, but I seemed to find them nonetheless.
Greens in good condition even though they looked recently top dressed.
Would have been good to finish the round!

With regards to the course the greens were average at best and the bunkers were heavily compacted from all the rain so you could putt out of many of them. Rest of the course was pretty good and in terms of value for money Parkwood certainly ranks well. Staff also responded well to the tee time and crossover issue, but really shouldn’t have had to

PROS

  • Good value for money

Considering the amount of rain we have had over the last wek the corse was playing well. Carts could not be taken on the fairways and had to stay on the paths. Rough was very rough and wet – but the fairways were quite good and the greens excellent considering the rain – they wre slow but good.

My wife and I arrived and were greeted by a friendly young man who got us set up straight away. Cart paths only on this day as things are still very wet on a few holes. We understand totally. The layout was good, greens are still being worked on so a little slow, (they "sanded" 3rd green right after we finished playing it)a nd most of the course held up pretty good considering all the rain we’ve had. But we did lose a couple of balls that were in the fairway but obviously plugged.
Afterwards went in for an ice cold beer but did not eat as we had other plans. Overall when dry this course would be very good value for the money paid. We are going to try to come back next week while we are still in the area.

The course was in good condition considering the rain South East Queensland received over the previous week. Some of the greens are still recovering from the work done in early February and some of the tee boxes need some work, especially hole 5.

The layout was challenging but also fairly forgiving for a low 20’s handicapper.

I think I will return once the course is a bit dryer!

First timer at the course during what has been a very wet week in SE Qld. Course was in reasonable shape given the conditions. Would very much like to return in the dry as I thought the layout was quite challenging and interesting.

Found the greens a little inconsistent in speed but again the wet conditions were the likely cause. All in all a enjoyable round in trying conditions.

Very dissapointed in the greens. Whoever has reonovated them has ruined them an the coarse is well below adverage. Its like they have run over the greens in a tank with more grooves than John Travolta in Saturday night fever.
The coarse layout is great but its not worth the $60 with cart we were charged and I will not be returning until the greens are playable.

We played this course on Friday 5th February 2010, using the iseek online special deal @ $19 p.p. including cart during green renovation.
Apart from the 1st couple of holes, the course design is very pleasing with many interesting holes. No super long holes and no "mickey mouse" holes, gives all normal golfers a chance to score well on any given hole.
We all agreed that we would come back when greens were finished and look forward to an iseek special online deal.

This is a good social golf course. The fairways are in pretty good nick and the rough is very forgiving. The yardages on the early par 3s might need revision though. I can’t comment on the greens, as I played during the renovations and the greens were very very heavily sanded. I would have hoped that iseek would have been more specific about the conditions of the greens. I have recently played on greens which have been ’redone’, and they were considerably more playable than the ones at parkwood. I wouldn’t play there, at least until February 20 until the greens recover

Have played here before and enjoyed the course. Apparently there had been some vandalism on the third green so all were supposed to be starting on the tenth. My playing partner was not advised of this when collecting the cart and there was much confusion on the tee with people coming through from the eighteenth. Went to the tenth and found people coming through from the ninth. This made it a five plus hour round with a cart.
Pro shop needs to be more involved in the starting.

this was the first time i have used iseek and the process was great. the golf course was in good condition and looked great. my only critisism is that i beleive our game took about an extra hour too long due to no marshall pushing the caddy/coatch plus single player two groups in front of us. this really stuffed up our game as we were at the tee with the four players in front of us. it wouldnt have been noticed if they had a drinks cart? both of those negatives are easy to resolve and wouldnt happen that often either.

Played 18th Dec. 09. The staff in the pro shop were very helpful when inquiring about products and the booking I made on iseekgolf (did it go through etc..). The course is very long and challenging for a novice like myself. The hazards are everywhere but some of the holes offer wide fairways which was a blessing. It was very busy with fast golfers always on our tail. We did let through a good number of carts and walkers as the 5 hours it took 4 of us was way too long. Overall a lovely course. Luckily they finished after that nine and we completed the 2nd 9 in about 1 hr 20mins. The course is quite short but also quite tight with plenty of water. The fairways were fair but not great. Parkwood is a reasonable course but I don’t think they should allow bookings when they are coring the greens and doing associated work.Putting was virtually impossible on some greens and there were long delays waiting for workmen to see approaching groups and allow shots to the green. Trying to place shots to avoid workmen doen’t help your game either.

It was a lovely course to play but would reccomend I-seek Golf letting people know when the Course is performing coring of the greens as that was a big disapointment to discover this once we started playing and made it very difficult to put on the greens:(

Played this course for the first time September 2009. The course has a nice layout that is not too demanding with wide fairways giving all levels of golfer a chance at par or better on every hole.
Currently the greens are being redone so are aweful to play and the course in general is quite dry. However the middle fairways are still good and once the greens bounce back this will be a very enjoyable course to play.

First time at Parkwood, the experience was very enjoyable. Not a difficult course but was in good nick despite the lack of rain. Booking was easy and the boys in the Pro shop were very helpful. Cant believe it cost less than $20 including cart, myself and the group I played with will all be back.

Course was in good condition but course management needs to be improved. There was a group of 3 in buggies who skipped in front of us and went straight to the third hole. Later on the ninth I noticed a group of 8 players teeing off on the same hole. This all leads to slow play. This is not the first time I have encountered a group of 8 players or more playing together on this course.

It had been some years since I had played at Parkwood and it was very pleasant to come back and replay some of those interesting and challenging holes. Course needs some good rain to get a bit more coverage on the fairways. Pro shop staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Two of my friends had never played here before and definitely want to come back. Thank you I seek Golf for a great and very reasonable day.

Booking was easy. Pro shop courteous and helpful.

Other golfers waiting for tee off need to be reminded by proshop to stick to tee times – if you are late you need to wait if the next group is on time. Latecomers should not penalise those adhering to golf etiquette.

Asian golfers fake ignorance, but believe me they know what is right and should be made to stick to time etiquette.

Overall the course is great, nice and friendly with enough challenges – water and sand. We all wish to play on manicured courses, but with drought like conditions – lack of rain it is difficult to manage.

As long as we see grounds staff working we should be happy that things are being taken care of. Thanks to staff who stopped their machines while we were putting!

I have played Parkwood before & have always thought the course & facilities to be quality. Booking & paying online was easy & checking in to play went without a hitch.

This was my first vist to Parkwood International but it won’t be my last, I found the course in fair to good condition, as we have had very little rain over the past 4 months or so, but the greens were in excellent condition. It was good to be challenged by a few holes that had surprise water or other hazard features as each hole was and unknown factor. I also like the fact that no holes ran side by side each hole seems to meander through the tree lined course, well worth a visit

When it rains this course quickly floods as it is part of a flood way. There is no sign of floods at the moment and the course is in great nick. The 9th is a great challenge and despite our best (or worst endeavors) my mates and I have yet to par the hole. The 19h is a grea spot for a beer at h end of the round.

Friendly staff. First few holes were ordinary but got better as we went along. Back nine were much better – all greens were in good condition.
Too many people on the course – it took us over five hours to get round.

First time at this course. It will improve with some rain but playable as it is. The greens in good condition. Easy to find your way round, Pro shop staff welcoming and informative.
This is not a real challenge for the low handicapper but for high handicap/social players an enjoyable experience.

Good course in fair to good condition, probably won’t test low handicaps, found the greens to be pretty fast but true, a good challenge. Maybe not worth full price but good value in the afternoon, you’ll make 18 before dark now. Staff friendly and helpful.

Was it my Birthday or was it Xmas?. Im not sure it could possibly have been both as it was certainly some cause for celebration,, as had I paid $89 not the $19 we did pay I would still have been impressed with this course. Not a tough test of golf but an interesting mix of holes and greens in exceptional condition. When considering we have had no rain for two months, it was nothing short of a miracle that they were so lush and true. Fairways not far behind and plaudits to the green-keepers.

We will be back without a shadow of a doubt.

Have not played there for a couple of years but enjoyed my round. Tee boxes and fairways not in the best condition due as much to the lack of rain as shortage of resources, but greens in excellent shape. Great layout and wonderful bird life. Very helpful and friendly pro shop. Good value if booked through iseekgolf.

I have to say that since my last review at the beginning of February the course has surely turned a corner going in the right direction. New machinery has been bought and new staff arrived. Despite still bearing the sign of neglect the fairways are going back to being the spongy green fairways of the best times. The greens are very nice at the moment and the rough has been cut and kept to a minimum, just as it should be.
So, well done Parkwood and keep at it!

Despite what may have been stated (harshly) in the past about the conditions that Parkwood was subjected to over the christmas period, as a PROUD member of The course it is great to say that it has finally turned the corner. The course has received new machinery and as a result, Parkwood is returning to it’s former glory. For those nay sayers still out there writing unwarranted ’comments’, I urge you to see the course for yourself first hand.

Cinarellaboy, if you think Parkwood is playable these days you must be living in Dreamland!
Unless you’re actually the owner or course superintendant because there’s no other way you can write anything positive about the course at the moment.

new member of parkwood. what a waste the fairways are nearly as bad as rough covered in weeds and bare patches in some spots. all in all a good layout in extremly bad condition

550. Pipp | Rated | 02 Feb 2009 | Add A Review

I am (not for long) a member here. The course has been in appalling condition for the past 2 months and nothing is being done to reverse that. Fairways not deserving of this name (weeds, rough, bald patches everywhere). Rough about 200mm long makes it all but impossible to find balls if you’re unlucky enough to get there. But then again, no difference to the "fairways".
Staff quite rude as well with mowers running past you at full speed while you’re trying to hit your shot.
I read another reviews saying it’s better to go to a local park to play: I suscribe to that.
Definitely going somewhere else very soon. Goodbye Parkwood.

551. Tapey | Rated | 02 Feb 2009 | Add A Review

tried to post two reviews recently but it seems I can’t rate any lower than this. Was a good course, now in the most appalling condition. You’d be better to hit the ball around the local park with your kids.

Save your money as they have just let it go.

Played this course after new year and found it in a very neglected state.Fairways where more like rough with big patches of long grass everywhere, definitly needs some attention, paid 60.00 per head with cart, not good value!

What a great course – slow play, lots of Asians but great layout – back 9 was challenging in some places – all in all a fabulous “5 hours” carting around and playing the best game in the world!

Those that think this is an easy course are extremely foolhardy. Water hazards and bunkers in play on almost every hole. Greens are true the members friendly with the drinks cart visiting on course often with a bevy of beverages to suit all tastes. The practice green putts the same as the rest on course and the driving range is open all day. Great staff and a great challenge. Worth a visit at really competitive prices.

Played here last week and had a great day. The course is well layed out and challenging and the staff and ladies from the comp playing behind us were very polite and helpful. Considering joining here as I enjoyed it that much. The course was in tremendous condition and I found several of the holes a real challenge. HIghly recommend.

Firstly i must say, the Pro shop and the 19th hole staff were extremely helpful and friendly, with regards to the course one can certainly say whilst at times it throws up a great challenge to all players, and the greens fee’s are equally relaxing compared to some other course’s not even up to the standard of this course.

I’ll certainly be back, and become a full member shortly….

Overall a lovely course.

Just joined as a social member, $49 gives me $15 off the green fees and two complimentary rounds!!

Definately reccomend this one, especially for the price on the Coast. Club house is bit old and can't really say it has a pro shop.

Course is great. Heaps of features everywhere. Water or fairway bunkers on just about every hole. Fairways great, greens 8/10.

Good for a lonmg challenge off the blue tees, but can suit anyone with three teeing grounds greatly varying in length, up to 70m difference on a par 3.

This course is great value. The first few holes are a little average but from about the 4th on this course is fantastic. Well manicured fairways and greens. Great value at $35 for 18 holes on weekends! And the members playing on the course were very friendly and relaxed.

this was the first course I had played on the Gold Coast, was very impressed with Rhett the young man in the pro shop, the member I played with was ever so friendly and the course is very flat, great large greens that are true, I shall be back, and last but not least the green fee very reasonable compared with the other courses I played on

I loved this course from the layout to the length of the course, to the driving range, the caterers I might add probably have the best selection of food of had at at a golf course, and very nice service as well.

Onto the golf, pro-shop very helpfull as I'd never played this course before, pointed out where to go etc, very very impressed with course reasonably priced and very easy to walk as well.

Members very helpfull. Overall great surroundings, definatly will be back.
