parkwood is a good course value for money i have played there 6-7 times before. yesterday wasnt good though. fairways were good but just off the fairways wasnt just rough it was jungle rough it was terrible. i lost 6 balls yesterday really dissapointed. think the parkwood golf course are putting the focus on there new putt putt and left the golf course too long.

WOW. with all the renovations that are impending will make Parkwood a very enjoyable outing (much different to what I remember it last time). Whilst it was very wet when we played, the course held up reasonably well. The staff were friendly and we had to reschedule our days due to poor weather. Facilities are great and the recent investment dollars will bring return golfers for sure.

The course was somewhat wet, but all workers were pleasant and wanting to assist. Building into an interesting challenging course, but I need to introduce more golfers to it as they wish to travel further South to Tweed etc, but miss out on this little gem

Not impressed, booked 18 holes with carts for 4 people, turned up and got told we could only play the back 9 and had to walk even though we had payed for carts.I understand they can’t control the weather but they should not let you book and pay for a cart if you can’t use them, massive waste of money, would never go back.

Clubhouse, carts, food and service were all first class. The front 9 i found to be in quite a poor condition with greens very small. I also found it frustrating that the card distances didnt match the hole distance (especially on the short par3 second) Also boards showing distance at the tee were missing on most holes.

The back 9 i found to be in very good condition, greens were alot better.

I also found that around the greens were very flat and subsequently pretty easy to navigate if you were just off the green.

Love the course & helpful staff in the pro shop only dissapointment
is the gate leading to Parkwood estate has been closed when we have
finished our game, and last night it was onluy 5.30pm and it was
closed – it would be nice to have a drink after the game as well but
the bar has been closed too….

Played a good round. I enjoyed the course. The staff were great, could not have asked for better service. Linked up with some members that were very friendly. Play was a little slow, but slower groups allowed us to play threw. The club house looks great and the new owners look like they are spending alot on upgrades, inc mini golf for the kids. The course is next for the upgrade once the clubhouse and amenities are finished. Plays a little hard in the ground surface, but good run if on fairway. I would definitely recommend this course, especially in a few months time.

Course in poor condition. Course being renovated but lack of imagination in hole design and fairways in very poor condition. Work required to tidy the course up and more money needs to be spent. Seems to be lack of trees and lack of maintenance. Clubhouse is being done up and lot of timber is the theme. May come good in the future perhaps but not very good in comparison to other gold coast courses.

Course was in overall good condition. I was playing on my own and it took the hackers in front of me 9 holes to ask me to play through after riding up their arse hole after hole. Rubbish. There is no courtesy whatsoever on this course. Some degenerate picked up my ball which was just in the treeline on an adjacent hole. Other than the tiny 4th hole green (diseased and had to be made into a makeshift green) the rest of the course was fine. Please have the Staff advise ALL players of how long it should take to finish 18 holes before their tee time

I played the course about 6 months ago and was super impressed with the quality of the greens and fairways. The clubhouse, pro shop and mini golf are beautiful however I believe that the course has suffered because majority of funds appear to have been allocated to clubhouse etc rather than course. The greens are still very good although not at the standard they were 6 months ago and the fairways are not even close to the carpet like standard they were 6 months ago. The course is definitely not international standard but having said that, very enjoyable and I will return as the cost through iseekgolf.com is great value.

Played here on the public holiday on the 3rd of January. Tee off booked for 12.20pm.

Upon arriving at 12 we were told we were going to be in a group with another two people. By the time we got down to the first tee at 12.20pm after eating some lunch the other two people were not to be seen, I believe they had teed off with someone else, which was fine by us.

Problem was everyone starting on the 1st which is a par 3, always a problem (albeit only because the hole is being worked on). The second hole is a par 3 as well so we were waiting for two groups to go before even teeing off.

The pace was horrendously slow with a ten minute wait at least it seemed on each hole. Could not play through because there were so many groups in front. Wasn’t helped by the fact that one group in front spent ten minutes searching for lost balls when they sprayed it wide (a lot!!).

Not a single marshall the entire time to speed things up. Which was the only big dissapointment.

Great course however. Bunkers need more sand but that’s not too much an issue. Course has some good challenges, can be forgiving as well. Will go back if I can get another good priced round.

I’ve played at Parkwood several times but yesterday was my first time in about 8 weeks and I love what the guys have done with the place. The greens were just about perfect whereas some were patchy six months ago. The new clubhouse and pro shop are very professional and I hope the new Putt Putt course becomes popular with the locals.
For $25 plus a cart, this course (despite it previous and existing renovations) is an absolute bargain. Anyone who says otherwise simply has too high a standards for golf!!
The only negatives I have would be that some of the tee off areas need relaying (5th & 7th are very uneven) and the bunkers still need a lot of work – actual sand would help..

PROS

  • Greens are near perfect, clubhouse and pro shop are top quality and drink cart was seen for first time in ages!

Cons

  • Certain tee off areas, bunkers with dirt rather than sand in them

booked through i seek and very disappointed in conditions as stand. you have to be thier on time but they can delay your tee off to suite them( 30 minutes later) and the play as slow as a turtle. And also with 2 par 3 at start makes it even worse.

Well funny how this is going to be negative and opposite to all of the other recent reviews, however here we are.Having booked a round via iseek,we arrived on time to find that everyone was going off the first tee,we then had to wait approx 5 to ten mins at every hole to tee off, fine however when it takes approx 3.5hrs to do nine holes i find that a little hard to swallow. Having mentioned that back at the pro shop, the answer was look at how much you paid, where my answer was that was what was on offer. all well and good to offer cheapish deals when you have a cattle parade happening i guess, one way to re-coupe some money.

Our group of 4 played this course on 29th and had an enjoyable round.
As GC locals Parkwood is our normal pick due to locality, great price, course layout and condition.
The layout provides a challenge for most golfers with variable wind conditions.
Congrats to the new management team for the ongoing changes to the amenities and course, this will be a great venue when complete.
The only criticism our group has is that when we finished [7pm] the club had closed so we didn’t get to sit back and have a few beers and unwind at the 19th!
Maybe a course marshal to keep the play moving could be looked at.
Overall a great course and facilities for locals and visitors.

They are doing some serious renovation to the Club House and course. There is a lovely garden and pavilion being built. The 1 St hole had a temporary tee. Pro shop staff was friendly. I can tell that by mid 2012, the Golf Course will look great.

If anyone wants to experience it at a reasonable price, this is time to do it. However, I would want another game when all renovations are done. The course will look amazing when it’s properly maintained.

Obviously a lot of work going on at the moment but they seem to have forgotten to work on the golf course. The Tee boxes were terrible, and the greens all different speeds and the 4th green is temporary but really bad especially if you land on the bottom tier. At at a fire sale price with a cart who could complain, except for the members of course.

A good layout and some very good short holes. A bit disapointed with the condition of the course. The greens were very grainy and there is only a temporary green in at the 4th hole. A lot of potential but it needs some looking after. The back nine is the better of the two nines.

Had played the Parkwood International a month or two prior and admittedly, I did not think the course was unpleasent, however after a bit of rain, a mate and I attacked it mid week, and we were extremely impressed with it!

The fairways were firm for length off the tee, but soft enough to take a divot on your second or approach. The greens were really speed cosistent throughout the 18 and yet soft enough to attack the flag! However some of the Tee’s could have been a little nicer, but taking the good with the bad, it is easy to ignor their condition in comparrison to the rest of the course.

Overall a fantastically set out course with a few great challenges! Distancing your shots on this course is a must to break even!!!

Plenty of work happening on the golf course looks as though ground staff are building new greens and there seems to be alot of unfinished projects. maybe they should finish one project before starting another. major improvements though. Fairways looked and played great. Greens were consistant. Staff were friendly but did not see a Marshall all round (some very slow play). When all work is finished this course could have the potential to be one of the best on Gold Coast.

46. UrbanLegend | Rated | 30 Aug 2011 | Add A Review

After a lot of rain in the 2 days beforehand this course held up really well. Greens were playable but not great. Ball did spend some time in the air while travelling to hole. I enjoyed the variety of holes with trees and water in play.

Had 42pts so happy with my golf which always makes the course enjoyable.

BUT we had our soft drinks taken off us mid-round because we were not allowed to take any form of drinks on the course. Alcohol I completely understand but the course marshall told us it means everything- soft drinks, bottles of water. I checked the scorecard, looked for a sign in the proshop and outside and also checked the club’s website but saw and read nothing stating this policy.

Now the soft drinks taken off us were already open so instead of asking us to finish them and not to open any more they just took them straight from us. All we took was 4 cans of coke (1 each) and a bottle of water.

This left us stunned and quite ticked off for the rest of our round and we definitely won’t be returning to this course.

Absolutely ridiculous policy/rule as every other course I have played at the Gold Coast has been fine with us taking a can of soft drink onto the course.

What a disappointment! We had breakfast in a lovely club house over looking the course, seeing water everywhere the course looked picturesque. It was a different story when we got on the course, if you enjoy hitting putts and the ball be in the air longer than its on the ground then your looking at the right course. This course was disgraceful and wouldn’t pay money to play there again. The perfect social course for people that have never played before.

I have played at Parkwood 1/2 a dozen times in the last 3 years. In the past i have seen this course in great shape, and more recently it has been, well,,,, below average. After not coming back for nearly 12 months until now, i was greatly surprised to see some new direction. The Clubhouse has been renovated and looks fantastic. New Electric Carts, but most of all there’s plenty of action going on out on the course. Applause to the new owners, this course is coming back to it’s former glory.
Golf wise, if you play off the championship tee’s, it’s a great layout. Plenty of obstacles like water and tree’s cutting into the driving zones and greens area’s. The greens are good and fair to putt on.
If you are playing off the whites and hit a long ball, theres a good chance you will reach all the par 5’s in 2.

I play golf every weekend between the Gold and Sunshine coast and am lucky enough to play the best courses. If you want value for money, and a chalenge, i can recomend Parkwood to any Golfer. Well done Parkwood for bring this gem back to life.

PS It’s great time to join !

Great course. Great little cafe. All very helpful and the views are terrific. Some players moan about the wet condition in some areas. Haven’t they noticed we’ve had a tremendous amount of rain in the last few months (years). Parkwood are spending money and time trying to alleviate the problem.

53. brebrothe | Rated | 29 Jun 2011 | Add A Review

I’ve played this course many times before. They layout is fantastic, the greens were extremely fast which I loved, however there was an awful lot of wet areas. Considering we hadn’t had rain in at least 2 weeks, I expected the course to be a lot dryer. If you stick to the fairways you’ll generally be fine, but even some fringes of greens had about an inch of water, and there’s no way you’re getting your ball through it.

I’ve played at Parkwood five times since February and I have absolutely no complaints about the staff, the layout and certainly not the price. The brand new carts are excellent and the clubhouse is of really good quality.

However, after playing there three times in the past 6 weeks, I was really hoping for little things to be improved, especially in the past two weeks with our perfect weather.

The eleventh & seventeenth hole greens still need a lot of work as they look anything but the colour "green". Both greens are next to each other so I can only assume the drainage in that area of the course is quite poor. Somehow miraculously I managed to birdie the 17th hole, despite the green being in poor condition.

The most frustrating thing I found when I played last week is that two bunkers in particular (the 4th & 16th), was like hitting off dirt (which cost me up to four shots). I would expect after the $1 million dollar refurbishment spent on the course, some of it would at least be spent on fixing all of the bunkers..

The only other complaint was that some of the tee-off areas looked ready to be played on, however we still had to hit off some lopsided tee-off areas instead which made it impossible to get feet placement the way one would want it, in order to feel comfortable when teeing off.

My rating is a 3.5/5 but by fixing these little areas, the course, when it hasn’t had a lot of rain could be given a 4.5 at best.

PROS

  • Staff
  • Layout, Most Greens, Golf Carts, Clubhouse

Cons

  • Some tee-off areas, the 4th & 16th bunkers, the 11th & 17th greens

We played Parkwood for the first time on Monday 13th June. The layout is good. The condition was wet as we had rain the day prior. Having said that – the course needs drains. There was soo much water sitting on cart paths it was amazing. Several tees are under construction was is ok as they are attempting to improve the course. Overall not a difficult course.

Really unimpressed. Drinks cart was non existent (on a Sunday!)- the girl was zig zagging all over the course, so she missed us every time.

The course marshal (a polite young kid) did nothing to keep the slow movers going. This caused a massive backlog that made it a 5 hour round.

The course lacks proper drainage so the whole thing was still soggy from the rain a week before.

Course was passable overall, but suffered from the massive digging and drainage efforts throughout the whole course. Most of the first nine was waterlogged and muddy. The tee boxes were in dreadful condition on almost every hole, but the fairways were quite good and the greens were great.

Service was great to get on the course, and a big plus was that the drinks cart was going round all day. Unfortunately, the marshall did nothing to speed up a couple of very slow groups who did not call faster and smaller groups through. It’s very hard when there is a four ball in front with one of their kids playing almost full holes in addition.

The iSeek green fee of $45 (inc cart) is probably on the high end of fair for this experience, but not excessive.

A lovely course overall. However, it was waterlogged despite no rain for 2 weeks. Thus, we couldn’t use the carts off the actual tarmac track. This slowed the game down to walking speed and as a result there were three groups playing each hole – all just waiting for the ones in front to move on.

It was very dangerous – we almost got hit three times because the people behind us were very aggressive and impatient at the slow pace. It is not a nice environment to play golf in when the pace moves so slowly and it is so crowded.

It took us 4.5 hours to get through 12 holes ! By then it was dark so we left, but we paid for the full 18. Not a nice system really.

I would play there again on a day when there were no other people holding us up in front and hurrying us from behind, as the course was good and the carts worked well. It is great value.

PROS

  • Lovely course, not too much water

Cons

  • Crowded, dangerous, frustrating, waterlogged, construction happening.

We played on saturday 7/5/2011 and the club could not have done more to make us feel welcome . The course was in good condition considering the amount of rain the coast has had. The only issue was the drainage work has left piles of dirt on the fairway edges , if you hit them your in trouble . Greens ran straight as an arrow all day . The course was nice but partially wet, wasn’t allowed to drive cart on course even some were dry, which I basically walked most of the 12 holes before it rained.I also asked for a course layout since it was my first time there, the pro shop said basically follow the people in front you, which I thought that wasn’t nice.

Parkwood is a must play. It’s a great course with challenging holes. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed playing here and will return again. You cannot go wrong with the price – it was a bit boggy, but that was expected after all of the rain we’ve had recently. This is a great course!

Played 9 holes on Thursday afternoon, but too wet to continue. Course quite wet underfoot, with poor drainage evident.
However course looks great, and we were sorry not to be able to continue. Friendly staff especially in clubhouse.

Great course to play. I always enjoy playing at Parkwood, even in some of the terrible conditions we have had. The courtesy of fellow golfers, good layout and good mix of challenging holes make it a good day out. I did find the speed of the greens very inconsistent.

My first time I have played at this course and our group of three had a great day despite the showers. Lots of good and bad golf and many laughs. The course is great and very interesting, likes swallowing up my golf balls in the water. Never mind we had a good day and will be play again as soon as we can. The staff were very friendly and we felt so welcome. Food was excellent.

I’ve played at parkwood golf course a few times in the last couple of months and I’ve been very impressed with the overall layout course condition and value for money, it’s not an overly long course but there are a few nice par 5’s. I’ve played on several courses around the coast and I find none are more enjoyable than parkwood..I highly recommend it and will be playing there again soon.

They are doing some great work improving the course but it was very slow around the back nine due to them allowing the veterans to hit off while we played the front nine.

Apart from dampness on course the greens and fairways are excellent. The changes being made by the new owners are definately heading in the right direction. We had a enjoyable round and will return to see what further improvements are made in the future.

i have played this many times and was really happy with the course. After the recent rain the course was overly wet and it struggled to maintain all the excess water. My opinion – dont play this course if it has had a decent down-pour! i would have cancelled my game but would have lost the $$$ i had already paid – that is the downside to paying for a game of golf on iseekgolf.com……

Played there on Monday the 28th of Feb. The course was nice, but some of the fairways had a few bare patches, and the greens ran at different speeds. I usually play Emerald Lakes for $34, and we played Parkwood for $29. Comparing the two, Emerald is much more worthy of the money, for the quality of the course, but it was good to play somewhere different.
We arrived 10 minutes early of our teetime though, and there was a group of 7 members waiting at the first tee, who graciously allowed us to play before them. Had no problems as far as waiting goes, there was never anyone directly behind or infront of us until we lost track of time finding a ball and had a single player catch up to us.
I’d say Monday arvo is probably the best time to go.

May or may not be back…

The pro shop were extremely helpful and let all of my friend and I play together even though we all booked seperately on iseekgolf. The course itself was very interesting, good length holes, creative layout. The greens had just been under some refurbishment and were a little bumpy but we were warned about that before booking a round.

Will be back there for sure.

Course generally in good condition. Greens under repair allowing a large discount.
The booking system of Iseekgolf however allowed a bookinbg to be made at 8.55am which in fact was in the midst of a crossover of Veterans weekly play and resulted in a significant delay to tee off time of over 40 minutes. The staff handled the delay poorly.

Overall I had a great day at Parkwood Int. The member i played with was a nice guy and the other members i met were also great/friendly.
Tee blocks and greens needed some work and improvements, fairways were in good nick.
Have to be straight or be prepared to go through a few balls. Good layout.
If i was staying on the coast i would look at joining. Seems like a good friendly club.

Course was great considering the rain. Very good layout and challanging with some exciting holes to test the brave off the tee.

We had a great time out there with very friendly members which was great, but i must say that the marshall on the day needs to pull his head in. His attitude was rubbish and how he talked down to my playing partner (who was only young but a good player) was uncalled for.

Otherwise a very good day.

Played here for the first time. A Christmas break up for work. After check in, went to tee off and was told I couldn’t play as wasn’t wearing a collared shirt. I was in dress shorts and a neat tee shirt; the other guys were in correct shirts. (I hadn’t played before). I was told I had to wear the correct shirt or couldn’t play. Was told I could purchase one for around $6. Now $6 isn’t the real issue, it was handled very poorly. Understanding NOW that there is a very strict dress code, I would have offered to give someone a cheap shirt just to keep the group happy, as they were paying customers. (If it was me). As it happens one of the guys had an old smelly shirt with a collar, in the boot of his car, so I put that on (out of spite). Now we played, and we purchased lunch and several beverages during the day. I wouldn’t put that extra income at risk for the sake of a ($6 retail) shirt! We could of and nearly did take the whole group somewhere else. To add insult to injury, we saw a lady wearing a grey singlet with NO collar, just a couple groups ahead of us. But hey, she didn’t get asked to leave!! There is NO double standards here!!
To the manager: DON’T forget, there is a lot of other golf courses on the Gold Coast. You shouldn’t assume that everyone that comes to play golf knows all the dress codes as there is always going to be a first time for someone to play. Maybe you should have offered a free shirt! You just don’t know who you are turning away and especially what potential customer you could have kept.

The fairways were in good nic, and the course is presented rally well. A couple of good dog-legs for players like me that like to spray their drives right, don’t know if I would like to live on the 3rd, good morning! (sorry)
There’s a nice amount of water and bunkers around the course although the bunkers were still hard from last weeks rain, so hard we were able to putt out of them. The greens are fairly flat but still, if you cant putt, they cost you shots.
The staff were great, walked in with booking number and teed off 2 mins later, very easy.
An enjoyable round made simple by iseekgolf, cheers.

I played at Parkwood on Sunday the 12/09/2010. We had a group of 7, so 2 tee times. We hit off on time and didn’t get held up at all. The greens were cored a week earlier but we knew this as Parkwood had a notification on Iseek prior to booking. As a twice a month golfer I found the golf course both challenging, and rewarding. The only problem we had was we we looking for the marshall all day as the groups in front held us up the whole round. We waited on every hole and instead of taking 4 hours 15 or so, it took us 5 hours to complete the round. I noticed that about 3 groups in front were a whole hole behind and did not seem to try and make up time.

Parkwood International is not long but challenges with water in play on many holes. Very enjoyable layout and excellent value. We played mid week immediately before the members competition and finished inside four hours. I was very dissapointed with my last round at Parkwood. We arrived ten minutes before our tee time to find eight groups lined up waiting to tee off. Needless to say, we teed off late. The grounds were in sad shape, and the round took nearly six hours to complete.

A course of this low quality, and with this poor time management should not be charging this kind of money for a round. Comparable courses are in the $13 – $17 range in this area, and would be more appropriate.

In the future, I won’t be ruining my weekend with a round at Parkwood

Parkwood offers a pleasant experience at great value. The diversity of the terrain keeps the golf interesting. It’s not as "glamorous" as many local courses, but is very playable. The dead vegetation waste in the non playing areas is a detraction. Would be better to remove it, but if they had those expenses, it might no longer be as well priced.

We had a great day at Parkwood International
The staff were very friendly and welcomed us
The course was well maintained and has some really nice and challenging holes
Overall it was a very good day and great value

Parkwood International was a nice course. We had only one issue really and that was the amount of people playing the course which slowed the game down. There was a line up of three groups waiting to tee off at the time that we were to tee off and then the game was very slow from there on in. In the end we only got to play nine holes that afternoon instead of 18 holes as we were suppose to tee off at 1:35pm but with the line up and the slowness of the amount of people playing the course by 4:30 we had only completed 9 holes and the sun was starting to go down. We had two groups waiting on most tees each time. But other then that the staff were nice and the course was in good condition. :)

Good course, not too hard not too easy, greens were in ok to good condition. The biggest problem in this course for me was the noise pollution; dogs barking in the nearby houses, loud music in the nearby houses, major maintenance on the day I was playing in.

Played on Monday 31st May had a great day but course was very wet again after some rain. This continues to be a problem as the course is very soggy after rain and I would have to say I probably would’t play again if there had been any rain within the 3days prior otherwise a reasonable course, staff at Pro shop very friendly and easy to chat too.

Very dissapointed to tee-off at 1.30 and not finish the round, considering there was only two of us (low h/c’s) and we were in a cart.

Way to many on course!

Finished on the 15th after waiting at every tee and atleast 4 players behind us. On the drive back to the clubhouse saw atleast 5 other groups on the 16th, 17th and 18th trying to finish in the dark!

Good course to play on little challenging at times but still not to bad for the novices like myself, lots of fairway to hit and rough is quite short if you stray.

The overall appearance of the course from the elevated clubhouse was very attractive. The fairways were well grassed and the greens in good condition. However, the tees were generally narrow and humped in the centre making it difficult to locate a level teeing ground. The course infrastructure (cart paths etc), in places, was in need of repair and tended to distract from the pleasing environment. Parkwood represents good value when compared with other courses on the Coast. I look forward to becoming a member soon.

Hadn’t played this course for a good 18 months as I was not impressed with its condition on my last round there. I am very glad to say that the change of management has brought a BIG change in standard of the entire course as well as the professionalism and friendliness you are greeted with by the guys in the Pro Shop upon arrival. Greens were great(fast)and fairways condition was the same. Could not fault the course. Will definately be playing this one a lot more often. Well done to the NEW team at Parkwood.

What a lovely course. It’s well laid out with water lurking on lots of holes. Tee boxes could have been a bit tidier, greenstaff were busy all over the course. Big downside on our round was we arrived before our tee time but nobody seemed to going at their allotted time, hence we got stuck behind Ian Woosnam, Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson…..at least that is who they thought they were as they took 20 practice swings before, and after, every shot which usually bobbled 50m down the fairway with the divot which never got replaced.

All good from start to finish. Friendly and efficient service. Well laid out course. Good length. Testing at times but generally accommodating of the higher handicap player who doesn’t want to spend half his time searching for lost balls. Great value for money.

Good value course with a nice layout that really rewards good shots with some easy to reach Par 5’s and faily reasonable approaches on most holes. Only problem I found was 7min tee time spacing with no official starter. Tee of at 1:21 and unable to finsh 18 holes due to light (called after 15) and a 5-7 min wait at every tee box for the group ahead.

Played Anzac Day holiday 2010 for $29 via iseek. Only got 14holes starting at 2pm due to very busy course. A lot of waiting.
Fairly simple layout, tree lined fairways with little rough beneath so not a major disadvantage being wayward. Small bodies of water make it interesting, but not too difficult. Not a lot of bunkers, but I seemed to find them nonetheless.
Greens in good condition even though they looked recently top dressed.
Would have been good to finish the round!

With regards to the course the greens were average at best and the bunkers were heavily compacted from all the rain so you could putt out of many of them. Rest of the course was pretty good and in terms of value for money Parkwood certainly ranks well. Staff also responded well to the tee time and crossover issue, but really shouldn’t have had to

PROS

  • Good value for money

Considering the amount of rain we have had over the last wek the corse was playing well. Carts could not be taken on the fairways and had to stay on the paths. Rough was very rough and wet – but the fairways were quite good and the greens excellent considering the rain – they wre slow but good.

My wife and I arrived and were greeted by a friendly young man who got us set up straight away. Cart paths only on this day as things are still very wet on a few holes. We understand totally. The layout was good, greens are still being worked on so a little slow, (they "sanded" 3rd green right after we finished playing it)a nd most of the course held up pretty good considering all the rain we’ve had. But we did lose a couple of balls that were in the fairway but obviously plugged.
Afterwards went in for an ice cold beer but did not eat as we had other plans. Overall when dry this course would be very good value for the money paid. We are going to try to come back next week while we are still in the area.

The course was in good condition considering the rain South East Queensland received over the previous week. Some of the greens are still recovering from the work done in early February and some of the tee boxes need some work, especially hole 5.

The layout was challenging but also fairly forgiving for a low 20’s handicapper.

I think I will return once the course is a bit dryer!

First timer at the course during what has been a very wet week in SE Qld. Course was in reasonable shape given the conditions. Would very much like to return in the dry as I thought the layout was quite challenging and interesting.

Found the greens a little inconsistent in speed but again the wet conditions were the likely cause. All in all a enjoyable round in trying conditions.

Very dissapointed in the greens. Whoever has reonovated them has ruined them an the coarse is well below adverage. Its like they have run over the greens in a tank with more grooves than John Travolta in Saturday night fever.

We played this course on Friday 5th February 2010, using the iseek online special deal @ $19 p.p. including cart during green renovation.
Apart from the 1st couple of holes, the course design is very pleasing with many interesting holes. No super long holes and no "mickey mouse" holes, gives all normal golfers a chance to score well on any given hole.
We all agreed that we would come back when greens were finished and look forward to an iseek special online deal.

This is a good social golf course. The fairways are in pretty good nick and the rough is very forgiving. The yardages on the early par 3s might need revision though. I can’t comment on the greens, as I played during the renovations and the greens were very very heavily sanded. I would have hoped that iseek would have been more specific about the conditions of the greens. I have recently played on greens which have been ’redone’, and they were considerably more playable than the ones at parkwood. I wouldn’t play there, at least until February 20 until the greens recover

Have played here before and enjoyed the course. Apparently there had been some vandalism on the third green so all were supposed to be starting on the tenth. My playing partner was not advised of this when collecting the cart and there was much confusion on the tee with people coming through from the eighteenth. Went to the tenth and found people coming through from the ninth. This made it a five plus hour round with a cart.
Pro shop needs to be more involved in the starting.

this was the first time i have used iseek and the process was great. the golf course was in good condition and looked great. my only critisism is that i beleive our game took about an extra hour too long due to no marshall pushing the caddy/coatch plus single player two groups in front of us. this really stuffed up our game as we were at the tee with the four players in front of us. it wouldnt have been noticed if they had a drinks cart? both of those negatives are easy to resolve and wouldnt happen that often either.

The course is very long and challenging for a novice like myself. The hazards are everywhere but some of the holes offer wide fairways which was a blessing. This course is great value. Very dry however the fairways had good grass coverage

Enjoyed the day. Guessed the cheap rate was because of the coring/sanding of the greens. Guessed correctly. Expected to Pro Shop people to call our names to first tee – didn’t happen, but no dramas. Course is very dry at the moment and dams on the couse very low level. Guess we all need a fair bit of rain.

Booking was easy, was really surprised that I could play for only $19 with a cart, that was cheaper than the members I had to play with had to pay. Greens had just been renovated and were shocking.

I played Parkwood yesterday and found it to be a reasonable course. The greens have just been spiked and sanded but apart from that, everything was in pretty good order. I paid $20 for the round with cart so there can’t really be any complaints. I will be back to play again in a month when the greens will be sweet

Parkwood is a reasonable course but I don’t think they should allow bookings when they are coring the greens and doing associated work.Putting was virtually impossible on some greens and there were long delays waiting for workmen to see approaching groups and allow shots to the green. Trying to place shots to avoid workmen doen’t help your game either.

It was a lovely course to play but would reccomend I-seek Golf letting people know when the Course is performing coring of the greens as that was a big disapointment to discover this once we started playing and made it very difficult to put on the greens:(

Played this course for the first time September 2009. The course has a nice layout that is not too demanding with wide fairways giving all levels of golfer a chance at par or better on every hole.
Currently the greens are being redone so are aweful to play and the course in general is quite dry. However the middle fairways are still good and once the greens bounce back this will be a very enjoyable course to play.

First time at Parkwood, the experience was very enjoyable. Not a difficult course but was in good nick despite the lack of rain. Booking was easy and the boys in the Pro shop were very helpful. Cant believe it cost less than $20 including cart, myself and the group I played with will all be back.

Course was in good condition but course management needs to be improved. There was a group of 3 in buggies who skipped in front of us and went straight to the third hole. Later on the ninth I noticed a group of 8 players teeing off on the same hole. This all leads to slow play. This is not the first time I have encountered a group of 8 players or more playing together on this course.

It had been some years since I had played at Parkwood and it was very pleasant to come back and replay some of those interesting and challenging holes. Course needs some good rain to get a bit more coverage on the fairways. Pro shop staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Two of my friends had never played here before and definitely want to come back. Thank you I seek Golf for a great and very reasonable day.

Booking was easy. Pro shop courteous and helpful.

Other golfers waiting for tee off need to be reminded by proshop to stick to tee times – if you are late you need to wait if the next group is on time. Latecomers should not penalise those adhering to golf etiquette.

Asian golfers fake ignorance, but believe me they know what is right and should be made to stick to time etiquette.

Overall the course is great, nice and friendly with enough challenges – water and sand. We all wish to play on manicured courses, but with drought like conditions – lack of rain it is difficult to manage.

As long as we see grounds staff working we should be happy that things are being taken care of. Thanks to staff who stopped their machines while we were putting!

I have played Parkwood before & have always thought the course & facilities to be quality. Booking & paying online was easy & checking in to play went without a hitch.

This was my first vist to Parkwood International but it won’t be my last, I found the course in fair to good condition, as we have had very little rain over the past 4 months or so, but the greens were in excellent condition. It was good to be challenged by a few holes that had surprise water or other hazard features as each hole was and unknown factor. I also like the fact that no holes ran side by side each hole seems to meander through the tree lined course, well worth a visit

When it rains this course quickly floods as it is part of a flood way. There is no sign of floods at the moment and the course is in great nick. The 9th is a great challenge and despite our best (or worst endeavors) my mates and I have yet to par the hole. The 19h is a grea spot for a beer at h end of the round.

Friendly staff. First few holes were ordinary but got better as we went along. Back nine were much better – all greens were in good condition.
Too many people on the course – it took us over five hours to get round.

First time at this course. It will improve with some rain but playable as it is. The greens in good condition. Easy to find your way round, Pro shop staff welcoming and informative.
This is not a real challenge for the low handicapper but for high handicap/social players an enjoyable experience.

Good course in fair to good condition, probably won’t test low handicaps, found the greens to be pretty fast but true, a good challenge. Maybe not worth full price but good value in the afternoon, you’ll make 18 before dark now. Staff friendly and helpful.

Was it my Birthday or was it Xmas?. Im not sure it could possibly have been both as it was certainly some cause for celebration,, as had I paid $89 not the $19 we did pay I would still have been impressed with this course. Not a tough test of golf but an interesting mix of holes and greens in exceptional condition. When considering we have had no rain for two months, it was nothing short of a miracle that they were so lush and true. Fairways not far behind and plaudits to the green-keepers.

We will be back without a shadow of a doubt.

Have not played there for a couple of years but enjoyed my round. Tee boxes and fairways not in the best condition due as much to the lack of rain as shortage of resources, but greens in excellent shape. Great layout and wonderful bird life. Very helpful and friendly pro shop. Good value if booked through iseekgolf.

I have to say that since my last review at the beginning of February the course has surely turned a corner going in the right direction. New machinery has been bought and new staff arrived. Despite still bearing the sign of neglect the fairways are going back to being the spongy green fairways of the best times. The greens are very nice at the moment and the rough has been cut and kept to a minimum, just as it should be.
So, well done Parkwood and keep at it!

Despite what may have been stated (harshly) in the past about the conditions that Parkwood was subjected to over the christmas period, as a PROUD member of The course it is great to say that it has finally turned the corner. The course has received new machinery and as a result, Parkwood is returning to it’s former glory. For those nay sayers still out there writing unwarranted ’comments’, I urge you to see the course for yourself first hand.

Cinarellaboy, if you think Parkwood is playable these days you must be living in Dreamland!
Unless you’re actually the owner or course superintendant because there’s no other way you can write anything positive about the course at the moment.

new member of parkwood. what a waste the fairways are nearly as bad as rough covered in weeds and bare patches in some spots. all in all a good layout in extremly bad condition

295. Pipp | Rated | 02 Feb 2009 | Add A Review

I am (not for long) a member here. The course has been in appalling condition for the past 2 months and nothing is being done to reverse that. Fairways not deserving of this name (weeds, rough, bald patches everywhere). Rough about 200mm long makes it all but impossible to find balls if you’re unlucky enough to get there. But then again, no difference to the "fairways".
Staff quite rude as well with mowers running past you at full speed while you’re trying to hit your shot.
I read another reviews saying it’s better to go to a local park to play: I suscribe to that.
Definitely going somewhere else very soon. Goodbye Parkwood.

296. Tapey | Rated | 02 Feb 2009 | Add A Review

tried to post two reviews recently but it seems I can’t rate any lower than this. Was a good course, now in the most appalling condition. You’d be better to hit the ball around the local park with your kids.

Save your money as they have just let it go.

Played this course after new year and found it in a very neglected state.Fairways where more like rough with big patches of long grass everywhere, definitly needs some attention, paid 60.00 per head with cart, not good value!

What a great course – slow play, lots of Asians but great layout – back 9 was challenging in some places – all in all a fabulous “5 hours” carting around and playing the best game in the world!

Those that think this is an easy course are extremely foolhardy. Water hazards and bunkers in play on almost every hole. Greens are true the members friendly with the drinks cart visiting on course often with a bevy of beverages to suit all tastes. The practice green putts the same as the rest on course and the driving range is open all day. Great staff and a great challenge. Worth a visit at really competitive prices.

Played here last week and had a great day. The course is well layed out and challenging and the staff and ladies from the comp playing behind us were very polite and helpful. Considering joining here as I enjoyed it that much. The course was in tremendous condition and I found several of the holes a real challenge. HIghly recommend.

Firstly i must say, the Pro shop and the 19th hole staff were extremely helpful and friendly, with regards to the course one can certainly say whilst at times it throws up a great challenge to all players, and the greens fee’s are equally relaxing compared to some other course’s not even up to the standard of this course.

I’ll certainly be back, and become a full member shortly….

Overall a lovely course.

Just joined as a social member, $49 gives me $15 off the green fees and two complimentary rounds!!

Definately reccomend this one, especially for the price on the Coast. Club house is bit old and can't really say it has a pro shop.

Course is great. Heaps of features everywhere. Water or fairway bunkers on just about every hole. Fairways great, greens 8/10.

Good for a lonmg challenge off the blue tees, but can suit anyone with three teeing grounds greatly varying in length, up to 70m difference on a par 3.

I loved this course from the layout to the length of the course, to the driving range, the caterers I might add probably have the best selection of food of had at at a golf course, and very nice service as well.

Onto the golf, pro-shop very helpfull as I'd never played this course before, pointed out where to go etc, very very impressed with course reasonably priced and very easy to walk as well.

Members very helpfull. Overall great surroundings, definatly will be back.
