I had the pleasure of playing Pebble Beach on a recent trip to the US. I had watched a number of PGA tour matches there, but nothing is like actually walking on to the course. No matter what hole you are on the scenery is picture postcard. The Monteray Peninsula is spectacular, but enough about the views, this golf course should be a must play before you die listing. The course is in emacluate condition as you would expect, though with little wind, its a lot easier than you would think. However when the wind blows look out. The course requires you to think every shot & placement is more important than distance. The iconic 7th is daunting on a calm day, but when you need to start the ball well over the ocean & the crashing waves, you can be overwhelmed by the lump in your throat. Be careful on the 8th, don’t take to much club off the tee, the cliff drop off is closer than you think, (as I found out). Also beware of the seagulls, there twice the size of ours (Australia) & will steal any found you leave in your cart, no matter how well you think you’ve hidden it. The 14th par 5, what ever you do, don’t leave the ball above the hole, otherwise anything from a 3 putt to put a number on it could happen.

After 4 odd hourd & as you make you way up the famous 18th, you will understand why Pebble Beach holds a special part in every golfers heart & why Jack Nicklaus says if he had only round to play before he died it would be at Pebble Beach.
