The Port Moresby golf club is a club with a difference. Due to the security issues in PNG there is a need for security during playing times and members are always reminded not to take anything of value onto the course. The sight of security guards with their bow and arrows dotted around the course is aninteresting spectale.

Saying that the course itself is a difficult par 72 that holds the annual PNG open and of the 63 professionals that played the open in 2011 only 1 managed to remain under par for the four rounds … this shows that the course is a challenge to the best and club selection is paramount to a good round. The beware of the crocodile signs around the course show that the course has its extra hazards but the lack of bunkers mean you can leave your sand wedge at home. The swirling winds above the trees always challenge the best players but the rewards for a good drive are there.

Due to the requirement for a large amount of security the price of a round for the visitor is high but the club trys its best to keep this down as much as possible, all in all a challenging and very enjoyable course.
