Redland Bay Golf Club offers a fantastic challenge to all levels of golfers. The course overlooks the waters of Moreton Bay. The signature hole is Par 5 14th measuring 510m – the tee shot needs to be very accurate, which may leave you a chance to reach the green for your second. The hole runs alongside the Bay with high trees lining the other side of the fairway.
The Redland Bay Golf Club has a full Bar and Bistro available during the week and on weekends. Memberships are available and very competitive. Social play is available by making a booking with the proshop.

Am visiting Queensland from WA and thought I would play a round and what a place to play. From speaking to Gavin over the phone who was extremely helpful on tee times for my weeks stay here to the youngster in the pro shop who advised me to wait 10 minutes until I pay as I save money after 3pm to the course itself it has been a treat.

What I enjoyed best was being able to play a round on what appears easy fairways (nice and wide on the main) but this course makes you think with good bunker placements, speedy greens with some tricky pin placements and a great wind straight off the bay.

My favourite hole I think I have ever played too date was the Par 5 14th. Tee off into a narrow fairway scattered with bunkers, the bay to your right, trees to your left and a howling wind for good measure you are left with little room for error. With about 150 to go it kicks hard left dog leg so think twice before you try and lob trees to attack the green (unlike me who went bush walking).

I will definately play here again everytime I visit Queensland.

Played Redland Bay today as part of an organised social club.. The guy in the pro shop Gavin or Kevin was very helpful and friendly. Pro shop had some great deals on equipment. Gavin/Kevin was keen to assist me with my inquiries into a new driver and even though i told him i didnt have any money on me to purchase he explained the Pros and Cons of certain models. Thankyou.
The Course…. Was fantastic!! it was very windy but the cousre was in great comdition and the greens were up there with the best in Brisbane. Big call i know but as an avid golfer of more than 20 years i think this is the right call. The fairways were tops and overall it was a very pleasant day.. Only issue was the bunkers but id say it would be a fulltime job keeping sand in them thanks to the wind from Moreton Bay..Just a few bunkers not all…
Our social club will be back for sure.. we teed off at 8am and we ALL finished in 4 hours. YES 4 HOURS!! on a sunday!!yes it happened…it was tops…

Played at Redland Bay on a Sunday morning with a few mates. We paid $50 each for 18 holes with a buggy and had to tee off very early to avoid the competition.

Each of us are at a varying levels of ability. It is fair to say that the course layout provided a challenge for each of us. The course was in very good condition in light of the recent wet weather and whilst there was still a fair bit of free standing water.

We were hit with a substantial down pour whilst playing which added to the on course water. After nines holes some of the guys were not keen to continue we asked if it was possible to get a rain check to come back and enjoy the rest of the course. We were told flatly that no rain checks would be issued and the fact that "not enjoying the conditions or the course was no reason to get a rain check".

Bottom line, good course, ordinary hospitality. Only go there when the weather is good. We wont ever go there again.

PROS

  • Good interesting track

Cons

  • Pro couldn't care about guests of the course.

Played there today (05/02/10). First time I’ve played there since I was a young fella. Nice lay-out. Interesting and a real country feel on some holes, but a ’dunes/links’ feel on others. Great deal at $12 after 3pm- yet it was quiet for a Fri afternoon! Good amount of water. There were some hard sand (mud) traps. Nice birdlife.

Some weird areas where they are obviously working on new greens or covering old sand traps or something…

The 10th green was literally orange- not sure what was doing there- killing it off?

All in all- a great deal for the price and a good lay-out. I’ll be back…

Redland Bay is a nice and relaxing course. Holes are not too hard and are quite fair. We had played after some rain, and the course really did not drain well. Very soggy under foot. Overall, the holes did offer some variety. I did however think the greens were just a little bit too hard, hard to land ur shot on. Good course, but due to being so far away, and other courses are a little better wont come back for near future, however, a nice day in all

Beautiful course, challenging for sure with water on several holes, nice doglegs, breeze that can add clubs to your shots and some tight holes. At the same time it’s not ridiculously hard that you don’t enjoy it. Fairways are lush, greens true. The 14th, par 5 hole is a great hole that will leave you very happy if you can par it.
A very nice course.

Top grade golf course. I really enjoyed my game at Redland. I managed to play a few golf courses whilst in Brisbane, and Redland Bay is so far the best that I have played. There are not too many golf courses these days which make you think about where you need to place the ball. Hitting it up the middle at Redland Bay is not always the best option, and to me that makes a golf course enjoyable and challenging. To top it off the location of the course is fantastic, being right on the waters edge. Take the time to spend a day at Redland Bay.

Info for those that might be thinking of playing at Redland Bay at the moment.

The course was closed for renovations last week and has been re-opened this week. I played a social round today. The greens have been very heavily cored and so will not be at the best for a few weeks. The fairways were also lightly chipped but have come back strongly already with all the rain of last week. The staff are working hard on catching up on the mowing, the rough is fairly heavy at present. I like it that way but it does make find any errant balls a fair bit harder.

The first 3 holes have also been temporarily shortened with temporary tees in place whilst they complete some path and tee work. I believe this will only be for a few days.

With more rain forecast this week, the course should be a picture in a month or so when it has recovered and the greens have grown back.

Cheers

Dave

Redland Bay is my home course so I am biased.

I play it weekly and always enjoy the round. A relatively flat course but has some good water features and hazards that come into play on a number of holes. The bayside location also adds elements such as mudflats, and a regular sea breeze with resultant lower temperatures than more central or western Brisbane locations.

Plenty of trees and you can be punished if you stray off the fairway. Most of the par 4 are a good length and your position off the tee is important on most of the longer holes. The Par 5 14th is a gem, and you will be pleased with yourself if you can par it with some regularity.

The green are very good generally, true and generally reasonably fast and they tend to get a little faster during the day with the sea breezes. Sometimes a little hard to get the approach shot to stick but that a 20 something handicapper speaking I guess. The par 4 7th hole over water is a real test of your approach shot.

The course can really bite when the winds gets up to a fresh afternoon sea breeze, adding 3 clubs or more on some of the into the wind holes.

All in all a good challenge without being ridiculously hard.

The course staff have carried out plenty of improvements in the last year and the course is generally presented in first class condition. I find the members and staff friendly and keen golfers generally.

The Redland Bay course is also excellent value for money for either annual membership or occasional social green fees;

Great value for $ if playing a comp as a visitor. good layout, tough but not too punishing. lovely cool breeze when i played there (pretty sure thats standard, given the positioning). As others have said its very flat, but definately not a boring course.

I do dislike the crossover fairway though. The greens were fast and true when i played there and in immaculate condition. Members were very friendly, staff in the pro shop were not overly friendly, but still very polite.

My only disappointment was that i expected "on the bay" to mean there would be at least a few holes with a great view of the ocean! But thats more what i wanted. Will definately be back again.

I play at least once a week at this course. (a Non member). the course is in good condition with the recent rain. They have spent some money on giving the place a face lift. The holes are getting a bit boring. Need to move them around or a few more bunkers. Main a straight up and down course. They start to look like each other. however, good value for money spent. They have a $12 deal play as many holes after 3pm mon-fri. Great in Summer.

Found it a bit boring. In reasonable condition, but just a flat boring golf course.

Congratulations to all involved at Redland Bay G/C.This course is in fantastic condition and is a true test of all standards of golfer. The par 5,14th must be the courses signature hole.A very demanding hole that can chew you up or satisfy greatly. Our forsome had a birdie(260 down the middle, drawn 8 iron to about 30 metres,1/2 decent chip to 12 feet and got the putt)2 pars and a 10.The par 3 just prior to this hole is just as tough.200 metres to a smallish saucer green.More than happy with a par here. The rest of the course is very diverse and challenging and a credit to it's designers and green staff.I would recomend this course to one and all.

I played the course on monday and had an excellent time. The course was in very good condition (greens and fairways) and offered a nice challenge (especially the par 5 14th!) Theres a good mix of holes at the bay with some doglegs in both directions as well as some long straight par 4s. Alot of the fairways are generous in width however if you stray from the tee you are punished accordingly. Worth the drive and I am currently planning my next vist!

Played here today for junior pennant and loved it. course was great and green. the only bad things were that because there has been alot of rain lately the fairways were wet! and also because the greens are elevated it is hard to keep your ball on the green. therefore my score wasn't nearly as good as what i played.

I am 15 years old and i play off a 12 handicap. I have been a Junior at redland bay for 1 month but i have been playing there for 6 months. I came from california creek golf club and i have fallen in love with redland bay. The staff and other members at redland bay are very nice and helpful. This is one of the best courses around. It is definitely worth playing. I count redland bay as my girlfriend. Who needs a real girlfriend with a course like this. I love it.

I had never played here until last week (it always seemed to be too far to drive), when a friend invited me down to "the bay" for a round. I was very impressed with the course as a whole, with a couple of tough holes. Not the least of which is the 14th (a Par 5, dog-leg left and then left again). Tee off around 11am and enjoy the breeze when it kicks in, in the afternoon or get out very early, are my suggestions in the middle of summer.

Some real birdie opportunities are there for the taking beginning with the 1st, 2nd. Others are there on the 5th, 9th, 11th and the 18th.

The greens weren't in the best of conditions. I gather they were cored and sanded a several months back and haven't gotten over it. I was told that they had sprayed a growth retardant on the greens to save money in green-staff salaries. It wasn't worth the money in my opinion, the greens need work.

The clubhouse has a great shaded deck enabling you to sit back and enjoy the post round rewards. Definitely worth the drive to the bay.

I am handy golfer (8 H'cap) I get to travel around Brisbane and play most of the courses. I would rate Redland Bay in the top 3 courses open to play by other club members or social players.

The golf course has suberb greens that are very true. The front 9 is where you have to make a score here as the back nine is very challenging starting (10th)with a very difficult dog leg par 4 that requires a long drive down the left half of the fairway, anything down the right side will require a little magic to beat the large gum tree some 60 or 70mts short of the green. Get through here unscared and you have 2 relatively easy par 4's to set your back up before you reach what the locals call AMEN corner (13,14 and 15)

13th is a long par 3 200mts with a hazard down the right hand side tee to green this combined with a very narrow shute type teeing area and a small green makes a par here feel like a birdie.

14th is a par 5 indexed 1 on the course one of the best par 5's you will play with a sharp dog leg(left) about 150mts out from the green makes it impossible to reach in 2 even for the long hitters.

15th is short par 4 but needs to be treated with respect a good drive will set you up for a birdie but a bad one will put a double or more on your card.

Being a student I find this course very good for the money that you pay. During the week it is $10 and the quality of the course is very impressive. A great layout with some challenging holes throughout. The only downside I have come across is that it holds competitions many mornings of a week and this prevents you getting on till after lunch. But that is normal I supose.
