I played Royal Pines on Wednesday 1st Sep 2010. The course was in excellent condition and I played the yellow set up off the blue Markers. The course is lovely and as I tee’d off at 6:32am there was no one on the course. I played pretty well so maybe that is also why I liked the course…

The staff at the club should also be congratulated as they were very helpful and great to talk to…

From the moment I ordered my coffee before my golf until the moment I handed in my buggy my experience was very good. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Would have loved to have played off Blue markers for the comp but i still enjoyed myself. Wasnt too hard and I can see why the Female Pros really burn it up..

One must say Royal Pine’s has once again proved it’s self as a classic golf course( and with the discounts offered via I seek golf it’s makes it even better)playing on the blue course was sensational, the greens were tricky & the water hazards were testing but all in all the staff were friendly which made the day almost as good as me scoring my best round ever, Thanks Royal Pines for a wonderful day.

I have played here around 9 years ago, there have been some changes, I like the lay out fairways and tees were well grassed, greens were very slow not holding to well. Front nine was frustrating and very slow group of choppers in front playing ambrose and taking their time made it slightly unpleasent at one point on the 9th we were backed up with 3 groups waiting on the tee for these ignoramouses to play out.

The course itself is very nice and challenging with a lot of Bunkers to avoid
The course was very busy that day and we had to accept a lady to join us.
We found ourselves locking for her ball all the time and the people behind us where hitting there balls at us it became really frightening.

The course is nice but the water drinage is not done properly causing some damages to the fairway. The course looks easy but can be a good test. It’s a bit more expensive than Robina Woods and we think Robina Woods offer a more interest round of golf.

Great Course!

Only disappointment was the service
- Bar tabs – The club house is separate to the drinks cart so 3 separate transactions had to be made.
- The first visit from the drinks cart was as we were putting the 9th
- The second visit half way through the second nine the drinks cart just drove past and didnt stop and didnt see her again.

I played this sunday on the championship course, Its a great course, beautiful greens and fairways. We got around in about 4hrs 15mins which is fairly good time. It was busy and the only thing that detracted from the day was the group behind us, hurrying us up, particularly as we were
playing at a good pace. My round consisted of some very good holes and some not so good (105 – been playing for 4 months). THe bunkers are in excellent condition and I managed to get myself out of them very consistently. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

This is the second visit for us. We enjoyed playing here and the breakfast was delicious. The course was in good condition although most of the bunkers in the back nine were "washed out" due to the heavy rains. To a couple of weekend hackers, we enjoyed our day and most certainly will return sometime in the future.

16. AndyCumming1 | Rated | 30 Jul 2010 | Add A Review

It was unfortunate that torrential rains prevented play on the first day booked. The next day the course was opened but all bunkers were flooded and were designated GUR and carts were not allowed on the fairways – this slowed play quite a bit. I was playing in a twosome but was booked behind two fourball matches so this slowed play even more.
The course overall was challenging but enjoyable to play despite the adverse weather. Service in the clubhouse was friendly and attentive although food service was a bit slow.

We played the Gold course which is all on the Eastern side of the main road. This is much more enjoyable than playing on the west which we have found to be a bit ordinary, but we can’t quite work out why. It just doesn’t feel as good as the Eastern side.
The game was a bit slow as we had a group of four who were having a great time standing around having a chat and a laugh ( and 15 strokes to the green ). There was however a Course Marshall who promptly sorted things out after several holes and we were then able to play with nobody ahead of us which was fantastic for a Saturday afternoon.
We found the 18th the most challenging with two large bunkers in front and the positioning of the pin causing a few problems for all of us.

PROS

  • Great Course, Great price and good on-course marshall.

Cons

  • People who have no idea of Golf Etiquette

Great day had by mate & I on a well presented course. Greens are true and fast just the way it should be, the bunkers were there but the sand was clean & light, fairways were in immaculate condition with enough bounce for the driver & soft enough for the approach. The staff in the shop were very informative & on the course helped us move through a slower group without any awkwardness. Great day.

The facilities at Royal Pines whilst not the best on the Gold Coast are good and serviceable. The staff are helpful. The golf course itself presents a challenge for all golfers of varying abilities. There is something in it for everyone. On the day that I played it was on the Green (Formerly known as Binnowee) and Blue (Formerly known as Wangara) course combination. The course is well designed with the majority of holes offering golfers choices between riskier and safer routes. Each time I have played the course it has been during the Winter months and it has always been in really good condition. Generally the course is well marked and easy to get around and the cart paths are excellent. Once you have completed the front nine additional signage directing you to the back nine of the Blue would be helpful as it is some distance away and you can easily end up on the Gold Course (Aroona) instead.
Some of the greens were a little sandy making them slow and hard to read but overall not too bad. Generally the greens are reasonably large. Royal Pines represents great value when compared to other layouts in the region and overall it is pleasing to the eye. If I have a criticism on the day I played it was pace of play. The suggestion time is 4.5 hours, which I think encourages slow play. Really it should be just over 4 hours tops. In all I highly recommend the course to you.

Although we played 18 holes, it would have been more enjoyable to play the original course. Having said that we couldn’t complain about the condition of the course. The fairways were lush and the greens true. It would have been helpful to have GPS devices in the buggies to help with distances.

I really enjoyed this layout. Whilst not spectacular in terms of views or landmarks etc.. it was very well maintained. The fairways were true and in excellent condition. The service at the pro shop when i first arrived was great and very efficient.

In the other aspect of improvements or issues, i found the rough to be quite thick and on a few occasions was very lucky to find my ball or any my playing partners. For a resort type course i beleive this should be considerably shorter. The greens were excellent on the front nine, but when i crossed the road to the back 9, found on several greens that the grass was burnt off and this caused several bobbles on putts.

On the whole though i would recommend playing this layout at the $79 price, but not unfortunately at the normal prices. Still though, was an enjoyable day had by all!

Royal Pines is a very well designed golf course. A couple of friends and myself played there last weekend. We were a little disapointed that the pro shop or the starters box did not inform us that the greens on the Blue course had been sanded and were not up to the standard that we experienced last time we played there. One other point of dissatisfation was that the rough just off the fairways and around the greens was extremely deep and thick, concealing your ball from view, even when you just about standing ontop of it. This meant if you strayed only slightly of course, it could take several minutes to find your ball. This does not promote a smooth flowing game for all players.

Played the green course yesterday – course was almost perfect, with a couple of greens having been renovated but overall one of the best I have played. As a high handicapper I didn’t find the layout too intimidating good drives were usually well rewarded but for some well placed fairway traps!

My wife having played less than a dozen games found the course a challenge in terms of strategy as did I but we both thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Will be back again soon.

Great course was all that i expected, the west 9 is great, very challenging especially the deep fairway bunkers and has some awesome undulation. Top course good paced round, was also good that the marshall was going around keeping the pace right unlike most courses.

Downfall was the thick rough can eat balls up make sure you bring plenty if you have a high handicapp or a bit wayward.

Played Easter Monday. Firstly, I would say that Royal Pines is a fantastic course with 5* service. It is one of our most favorite places to play golf on the coast. The back GREEN 9 is superb with challenging bunkers laced on the fairway and protection the green.

The fairways and greens were well manicured but the fist cut rough was just punishing. Very very difficult to find balls that were in the first cut rough let alone trying to hit out of it.

A couple of times our playing partners dropped a ball while in the rough and couldn’t find it. haha

I would recommend this course highly and its even better if you are a member of RACV, RACQ or even NRMA – you get their members rate which less than their standard rack rate.

Would play again as soon as possible.

I had a great round. Being an average golfer I loved playing on manicured fairways and putting on greens that ran true.
Get off the fairways and you ran into some trouble, especially in the second cut of rough. Deep bunkers that had real sand and plenty of water around the course made you really think about every shot.
I would reccomend this course to everyone and if you are a bit wayward off the tee, bring plenty of balls.

I wish to convey my disappointment with both the clubs booking system and iseekgolf’s miscommunication with the culub.

I tried to book a round of golf for the morning of the 14th March only to find out that your booking sytem for Royal Pines was down. I was left with no other choice but to call the course direct to book my round. They were happy to accept my booking.

Upon arrival, we were advised that there would be a wait due to double and over bookings. We were force to wait for 45 minutes until it was our turn to tee off. Not only that due to the large number of players on the course, the time to complete the round nearly exceeded five hour.

For a course of this standard and price this was unacceptable. Although the course was in good condition this experience left both my visitor (who by the way was from another state as a tourist) and my self very disappointed with the handling and management of the excessive numbers. Although I have use this service on many occassions, I am reluctant to continue to do so.

The Royal Pines is a true resort style course, well bunkered and plenty of water. If you can hit the ball at least 200m straight and can hit a seven iron thru to a wedge straight you should shoot a score in the 70’s. I played there 2 days after Carrie Webb won her seventh title and I can see how she shot 11 under on her final round. The green are big and flat and roll very true. Good course.

We played the Gold Course. Reception, Pro Shop were all very courteous and helpful. The fairways are reasonably generous although a few do seem to slope tothe water if you are not in the right position. Greens were large, fairly flat andd a consistent speed which is necessary. The one draw back is that the sand traps didn’t have enough sand in the bottoms. I was in several and it was hard pan in the bottom and the sides seemed to have more sand. Enjoyed the course tremendously as the layout is tough enough for the average golfer yet not overly difficult for higher handicaps.
I would highly recommend this course.

Excellent golfing experience played the green front nine and the gold as the back. Must be a straight driver as trouble both sides of fairway on just about every hole. look forward to going back and playing the blue!

Played 29th Dec 2009 after two days of heavy rain…bunkers were mostly full of water and looked like duck ponds…no rain today though.
Early start 7.30 am was wise…large groups behind us. Staff very helpful. Course held up well…we could have carts as long as we kept to paths. Quite long from back tees …especially against the wind.
Enjoyable day…will return

I had a 9:12am tee-off booked. The course officials could confirm I had a booking but didn’t know when it was for, so they ended up with two groups teeing off at the same time – apparently this is normal for them, and they often have a lot of problems with double booking of tee times.

Course in 1st class condition even though recent heavy rain. Course marshall was a little heavy handed urging us to hurry up when we had to stop for rain.

Top draw golf here folks! Not a long course by any stretch but the many bunkers and wind that can get up expecially over the back 9 means alot of thought goes into a round of golf here.

Staff very friendly and course is usually not over-crowded. A definate must for any golfer playing on the gold coast.

It rained on the day sporadically but the course drained well and it was in good condition. Didn’t enjoy the sand (I’d say that was my fault though). Staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks/food cart not regular enough. Saw it twice in the first three holes and then nothing until the back nine. Enjoyable day.

Played here for the first time and was pretty impressed. Proshop staff were friendly and didn’t mind explaining where things were. Played a combination of Blue and Gold Course and you could definitely see the difference. The Blue course was much more undulating and the large greens had more slope and roll to them. There was a good mix of short and longer holes, but generally speaking it was a pretty short 9. The Gold course which had been around for longer was a little flatter on the fairways with slightly easier greens. They were quite a bit slower too.
The bunkering on both courses was impressing, not just visually either, with pin positions making greenside bunkers come into play on most holes.
Would definitely go back for another round.

PROS

  • Big greens
  • open fairways
  • friendly staff

Cons

  • inconsistant green speed between courses

Have played Royal Pines several times before and loved the course, however played on fri 18/12 and came away disappointed. This course needs a major facelift as it is now very tired looking. Greens on green and gold course poor, tee boxes not level and shabby fairways ok but not much better than a good suburban course. No drinks cart after the 3rd hole and not much to choose from food wise after nine. The other annoying fact was we played at the same time as a work group and had to endure drunken shouts all way round

Great course. We played at 6:32 and were the second group to tee off. I lost a few balls as they only have to get close to the water to roll in, Still it was a very enjoyable round. Fairways are quite wide and greens quite large, there are a few trees around but nothing to worry about too much.

PROS

  • And it's only an hour from the northside of Brisbane.

Easy course with no real horrow holes.
Staff were great, drinks cart was around regularly.
They give you great little course guide.(It’s a pity the glades couldn’t do this)
Clubhouse food was very good.
It was a bit dry as expected this time of year.

Course is always in good nick and is a pretty fair one too. You will have to be playing well below your best not to shoot your handicap. Greens are large, receptive and true. Played the original back nine and the west nine. Finished in three and a half hours.

This is the second time around Royal Pines and it is a good course…very well layed out, in reasonably good condition considering the lack of rain recently.
However I didn’t like the fact that there was no one on the course around our tee time, yet the starter paired us with the group 2 ball behind us…I would expect that sort of condensing at a cheaper course, but I feel when you pay for a tee time at a course like this, you expect to have that tee time for yourself.
Just my two cents worth…

A series of nice fairways with challenging bunker, water hazard and green positions.
The first nine holes were under maintenance and the bunkers were perfect to play from. However the last nine holes were not under maintenance as yet and the bunkers were compacted and unpredictable with each recovery shot.A beautiful course nonetheless and excellent staff courtesy.

Staff very good and helpful. It was a shame they hadn’t been notified by I Seek of our booking which made us half an hour late teeing off. Some of the bunkers had no sand and where like hitting off dirt, e.g. fairway bunker on left of 11th. Front 9 blue very good, back 9 blue greens ordinary. I shot 78 off the red markers so very happy.

Played the Gold Course with 5 others on a Sunday mid-morning (November 2009). Course itself in excellent condition. Played off the white teas and found it to be a fairly easy course, although some of the green-side bunkers make it tricky.
The staff need to be congratulated. The service we received was the best ever and the way they spaced the tee-offs and then marshalled it meant that we were never waiting for the group in front or being hounded by those behind us.
They even had a professional photographer on the 4th hole and you could buy your best photo for $20 after your round.
Would thoroughly recommend it. Rate it higher than Lakelands.

Had a fantastic day – booked through iseek so the price was less than 50% of the normal green fees. Bargain. Service was excellent. Didn;t have to lift a finger. Drinks cart came around 3 times in the 18. Hired clubs and they were sensational. Callaways all round. Easily over $2500 worth so we couldn’t blame the clubs! Helps to chip in on 2 consecutive holes – birdie out of the sand and par from the fringe after a duffed approach.

Greens, grounds, fairways, bunkers and staff all up to expectations, and with the ISG discount, well worth the money (!) Lastly big thank you to the young Italian man we met at bag drop and who greeted us after our round…it helped start and finish our day on a high.

A great course with some of the longest par 5’s I’ve ever played. Played the green and gold course off the back tees, some great holes.

Greens were fast and good to putt on but far to hard for approach shots. Two of the players in my group are spin kings, both of whom I’ve seen spinning the ball back 15ft were having trouble getting the ball to sit down. Putting off the back fringe constantly does get a little frustating eventually.

A clerical error which sadly seems to be a not uncommon occurance when you book through i-seek meant we nearly never got on the course. The proshop guys were superb and had phoned round to get us a discounted deal at Palm Meadows instead down the road. They did actually managed to get us out on afterall but full marks for effort.

PROS

  • Great staff
  • Well marshalled

Cons

  • Greens too hard

Quite an experience on a sunny 26 degree Queensland day. Beautiful course, very well maintained and friendly staff. Surprisingly quick on buggies although the four ahead did slow our pair up a wee bit. Relatively expensive compared with other good local courses but worth it for a "treat". Food in clubhouse bar also very good.

Good organisation, staff were plentiful and keen to assist. They welcomed iseek customers. Play was good with little to no delays or hold ups for slow play. Greens were in good condition with a true line and pace. Blue nine was a different and exciting challenge with well placed fairway bunkers and undulating greens that tested your abilities. You had to think before just grabbing the driver at each par four and five. The photos on the third were a good touch and the quality was great.

A very enjoyable experience off the back markers.

The staff very very professional but not overly friendly.

After a slightly slow start the field picked up speed and the back nine was completed is good time.

The course is in magnificant condition. Tees and fairways are well groomed and the greens, whilst a little firm, ran true with good speed.

The bunkers were the only disappointment. Mostly from other players not bothering to rake after themselves but also some were a little shallow on sand. Best to stay out of them and enjoy the wide fairways!

Without question the best catering of any golf club I have visited!

I enjoyed the course but it was sodden after lots of rain this meant play was very slow and that made it hard to get into a flow. It took us just over three hours to play nine holes and I pulled the pin before the end as it was taking far too long. If you consider value for money in hours on the course I got good value, otherwise…. The staff were helpful and friendly and the Cafe adjoinging the Pro Shop has good food and was excellent value. I had the lasagne and salad and it was $8.00 and a generous portion.

Not as challenging as I had thought it would be but still a very good course. The only downfall for the day was the actual management of the "play". There were over 300 players our on the course and they allowed some groups to walk, which slowed up play immensely. They also allowed groups of "one" to tee off before and after us. We had been grouped with another 2 to play in a 4 however they didn’t turn up. They also allowed groups to walk the course – I would think with such a big field carts should be mandatory. We teed off at 1:12pm and didn’t get to finish 18 holes due to poor light.

Golf course was really good the condition was fantastic, we were booked to tee off at 8.32 and directed to play the green course first then the blue course second, during our first nine we were held up by the group infront (who also had a habit of leaving clubs on the greens) which meant a visit by the course marshall who was understanding of the problem, we were a group of four with two buggies and we were followed by a group of another rour who all had a buggy each making them alot quicker than us.

However there was no big problem as we only had two holes left to play on that nine. On the way to the second nine our group stopped and bought a hot dog from the sasage sizzle being conducted beside the starters hut.

When we arrived at the tenth tee we agreed to let the group behind go through as they were much quicker, by the time we finished our food they hadent shown so we started on our way, by the time we had played the twelth hole we recieved another visit from one of the course marshalls letting us know that in one hour and ten minutes there would be a shot gun start competition comencing and that if we wernt up to or playing the seventeenth we would have to leave the course.

We told him we were sent to this side and that nothing was said either when we first arrived or at the starters hut when we started and at half way, whilst he was sympathetic his answer was he did not make the bookings, this doesn’t help when you have paid 80 dollars to play.

On the up side whilst on the range we met Peter Senior and also saw him out playing. I guess all I am saying is that it would pay to check at the start if there is any thing you need to know that may affect your game.

Royal Pines is fast becoming our favourite Gold Coast course – even over the stunning Glades. The greens are just the best. Lightning fast but true. Exactly what you expect (well, hope for anyway). It has all the usual suspects as well – ever present water, acres of bunkers and majestic old trees filled with magnets.

Best asset though is the chef in coffee shop. The baguette filled with avocado, caramelised onions, mushrooms and fried egg was scrumptious.

What can I say? I am a member at another course on the Gold Coast that has been left to become bush (Parkwood) and I play here now.
Absolutely perfect course! Love everything of it.
Lay-out is nice, wide fairways but water in play on several holes. Some long par 5s and the Wangara 9 hole course is even more picturesque than the Aroona or Binnowee courses on this side of the resort (which are stunning).
Staff very polite, friendly and professional. Marshall always present and ready to intervene when players are taking it extra slow.
Great clubhouse overlooking the practice green and a couple of holes.
Fairways perfect at the moment, sand bunkers a bit hard due to the heavy rain of past weeks, at least on the Aroona and Binnowee Courses.
I like the range as well, good practice facilities, even though I advise to save your money and not to go to the main pro as I found him hugely overrated for what he gives you in return.
Just a great course at a very affordable price now if you are a RACQ or RACV member.

We enjoyed playing the new nine and holes 1 to 9 of the original course. The only sour note was when a course marshall chipped us for slow play, as we were not playing slow, but still managed to get a hole behind the the groups of 2 and 3 golfers in front of us. I unfortunately gave the marshall an earful, as there had been a lot of rain the night before and we had to stay on the cart paths, which definitely led to slower play. We were all club golfers and playing within our handicaps, which ranged from 5 to 12. We actually only took 4 hours for the round, so I don’t class that as slow play.

The booking process was excellent, with payment, confirmation and bookings made through the one organisation and then just having to turn up, check in and play.

Course was in excellent confition, greens a bit slow. The major issue was that although there were course marshalls around the course they did nothing to keep the group ahead of us on time – they were slow, made no attempt to speed up, and we had to constantly wait and hence so did the group behind us. Made the round less enjoyable and more memorable for the wrong reasons – we will not likely go back to that course in a hurry given the lack of control by marshalls to keep groups playing to time.

Played with all bunkers GUR. Made it a little easier, but still not a hard course. As others comment, wide fairways, bunkers are not a hazard for reasonably accurate players. Some VERY long Par 5’s. Enjoyable for $59, but for more dollars I would expect a greater challenge. A definite detraction was the use of dark blue and green flags, they were quite hard to see against the foliage late in the afternoon.

The course is great, we played Binawee 18, so the front nine is totally different to the back nine. It was like playing 2 different courses, the back nine reminded me a little of The Glades. Only negative was because the Gold Coast had heavy rain a lot of the bunkers were filled with water, they were GUR for the day. But it was annoying to loose a ball in a green-side bunker filled with very dirty water and not being able to retrieve it.

Very happy with the staff.Weather considered the course was in good condition and challenging.Understandably but not happy about having to carry three or more clubs across the fairways to play a ball and then return to the cart.

Beautiful and challenging course layout and can be deceiving in regards of distance when standing on the tee box.

Staffs are friendly and helpful, 5 star customer services and professionalism. Fairway and green maintainance is also first-class.

Honestly I do not know what some of the criticism about Royal Pines is all about !! This course is in superb condition – as it is clsoe to the Womens Championship in Feb 2009.

The course is awesome – superb greens and fairways are in great condition. The service is always great and you know that you are playing on a great course.

Would HIGHLY recommend to any visitor or local. Will be back for sure.

1st time at Royal Pines went there with three friends. Playes Wangarra (what ever). Front nine were of the standard you would expect, fairway were honest with green that would catch fire if the ran any quicker. Couldn’t see what the fuss was afetr the back nine, still rate Pacfic Harbour the best I palyed by far. Just to make sure this was a fair assessment I palyed at Pacofoc Harbour this morning (Christmas eve). Sorry Royal Pines there is nothing Royal about the gold. Fairways ofn the back nine were of the same standard as a local public course. Very disappointed in the course, fairways were rougher than my backyard and the sand traps had not seen maintenance since the last tour.

Excellent service, couldn’t fault the cooperation shown by all staff. Holes 1->9 on Aroona just recovering from renovation 2wks prior, staff apolgised for inconsistent greens condition. Huge difference of difficulty on Wangara, obviously Championship level holes….. fun but tough. Still enjoyed a magnificent course for 1st time, scoring +2 on handicap. Most satisfying….

A Very enjoyable day golfing at The Royal Pines. There are PLENTY of bunkers and water to contend with, but the fairways are quite wide and in good shape.

Played Tues, Dec 2. Front nine ((orange) was as expected given the nine is currently being groomed (tees and greens) but had held together well given the amount of rain in the weeks prior. The back nine (blue) was more like royal pines standard but alas we could not bear to hang around any longer to finish the 18. The day moved at a snails pace! We were over 4 hours through 13 holes and slowing! It was awful – this is 5.5hr plus round of golf in carts. Lack of good marshalling let down a normally excellent job by Royal Pines staff.

Two firsts – first time with iseekgolf.com and first time playing at Royal Pines. Both pleasurable, and I would have no hesitation in recommending either.

We had an early tee-time of around 6:30am – great weather. The course had held together really well considering the recent deluge.

Greens were maybe a touch slower than we were expecting, but quickened around the back 9. As did the pace of play.

Playing off the whites the par 3s were mostly around the 135m mark. The 5s weren’t really reachable in two for any of us, with the exception of the 9th (from memory).

Good mixture of holes. In a nutshell the front 9 we played was a tighter, more mature traditional layout, the back 9 was more open, and resort styled. Easily defined by the white fluffy sand around the back, and the grey grainy sand around the front.

Service was excellent. Great carts. Drinks cart often and pleasant.

Really enjoyable day – we’d do it again.

Excellent course. The Greens are very true and quick. Plenty of sand bunkers to catch the wayward tee shot or approach shot. The course rewards a good shot, but is quite severe on any wayard shots.

My father & I played the Aroona Course that hosts the ladies masters tornament and found the course to be in great condition and a good challenge. Have to agree with previous reviews in that there is a generous amount of fairway to play with and adjoining fairways if you are really wide – however it is still a challenge and good value if you can get on for the price we did – $60. Don’t know if I would pay the full “rack rate” of $120 with the other available options on the coast.

Played this morning on the Aroona Ladies Masters Combination. This is a fantastic resort course and easily equals the best courses I have played. While it’s not overly long, the hazards are very well placed and certainly require some thoughtful play. The course is in great condition with flawless fairways and very true greens, they are a pleasure to putt on. As others have said, the staff were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful, the course marshals kept play moving steadily which saw us finish up in just over 4 hours. The inclusion of a course guide in the green fees tops it off. I will definitely be heading back sometime soon, especially with $60 ISG deals.

Played October 15 2008 Aroona Ladies Masters Combination. This is a fantastic resort course that any golfer of any skill level can enjoy. There had been a fair bit of rain around, but you wouldn’t have known it. The staff were excellent and couldn’t be more helpful. Loved the inclusion of a course guide in the green fees and even ice in a small esky on the cart (which was a lifesaver later on when it warmed up!). Greens were medium paced and very true, pleasure to putt on. Only mild criticism was some parts of the fairways that had had some rain were quite damp and it did affect your ability to strike the ball cleanly – but apart from that – outstanding golf and we would play there again in a heartbeat!

Staff are excellent very accomodating. Course is immaculate, flat and great for a relaxing (if possible) round of golf. Not a spectacular course in comparison to Coolum or even North Lakes in regards to challenging golf and hazards! Generally if you can get a good price its worth a hit but wouldnt pay over $80 per round for it.

Lovely resort course in excellent condition very difficult when the wind is swirling. Fast greens hard to read which is a good change. Good for the long hitters off the champ tees. Played Royal Pines today [Aroona and Binnowee] and was pretty impressed. Fairways were in top notch and the greens in excellent condition.

Customer service was very good and course yardage booklet was included in the green fees [special angry mention to other courses where they make you buy the yardage book for $9.95!]

The Tee’s cafe was well stocked and reasonably priced, with a drinks cart doing the rounds. I think the new owners RACV are already making a positive impact.

Aroona front 9 was wide and forgiving but our favourite was the Benowwee 9! Plenty of clover bunkers and water hazards to keep even the straightest shooter thinking!

Overall, a top notch underrated course. No wonder you don’t hear many members raving on about it as they are all trying to keep it to themselves.

First golf trip to the Gold Coast and RP was our first game on Monday 15th Sept 08. Met at “bag drop” and “starters area” by Aaron and staff and couldn’t have been made more welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed our round on a very, very nice, immaculately presented golf course. One of our party had hole-in-one on 11th which helped make our day “special”. Stayed for lunch and the service continued to impress. Returned for another round the next Monday. We all enjoyed RP immensely.

Thought the course was in great shape and thoroughly enjoyed the round. Only issue was a corporate day with a shotgun start that we ended up catching on hole 10 (4-6 people playing ambrose), however the friendly and accomodating staff let us move forward a few holes on another 9 which was great and we were not frustrated being stuck behind a slow group. All up 8/10 for me..!!!!!!

Coming from Brisbane the Gold Coast has a bit of a reputation of slow play courses. Reluctantly we came down and gave the Royal Pine a try.

WOW what a surprise! The place was fantastic. At last a golf course with a Starter that knew what he was there for, to start people on time, an on course Marshall that kept players moving and on schedule, members of staff that were friendly, well mannered, and above all knowledgeable, even the café serves great coffee.

My group played the Blue 18 today at a special rate of $59 per person including buggy. The facilities and staff are excellent. The buggies have coolers (eksys) attached with ice too – nice touch. They also had drinks cart serving alcohol that was reasonably priced.

As far as the course was concerned, it’s challenging, particularly for the hacker whom plays once every 12 months (I fall in to this category). There is lots of sand, and lots of water (first blue 9). If your accurate with your strokes, you’re going to love it. If your lucky to hit 10 good straight shots in a round (me), its going to frustrate you.

Royal Pines, very nice indeed… I played on Friday the 12th January 2008 and the weather was wet to say the least, not too many people on the coarse, no surprise really. Torrential rain, wind, it had it all. The coarse however was better on the day, it beat the rain, sensational layout, tough but not over the top and the greens even with all the rain played true. Drainage on the coarse, excellent, staff excellent, buggies excellent, overall a great day… Look forward to playing there when it is dry… Thank you very much Royal Pines…

Played in August 2007. I found the course layout to be very enjoyable. The greens and fairways were in need of a hair cut, a bit fluffy. Even though the greens were long they still ran fairly well. I found the service here fantastic, I was running late so I called ahead to let them know and they moved my friend and I back a spot. From the course guide down to the gift shop and staff I found this course to be great. I will be back to play again, soon I hope.

My group played the original 18 holes with great satisfaction on the 11th October 2005. Long enough to be challenging for 14 handicappers, but not overly punishing when not accurate on the wide fairways and large greens, I managed with the use of only 2 balls.

Excellent all-round condition of tees, fairways and large true greens that were not as fast as expected. Nothing much to criticise, although play was fairly slow in the afternoon.

This is the flatter and newer of the Royal Pines courses. It was a few years ago I played so my memory is not perfect.

Nonetheless I enjoyed my round there. It was in good condition, and reasonably generous in some areas in terms of fairway landing areas. It's greens are quite large, so whilst you may get away with a slightly off line tee shot, you'll need to be an excellent putter to make up for a slightly off line approach.

There's a fair bit of water and enough foliage to challenge, and whilst not spectacular, it was pretty enough to enjoy the round.

Would recommend playing here, albeit slightly less pretty an experience than the West course.
