Sanctuary Cove (Pines)

Gold Coast, QLD | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.5) | Add A Review

Sanctuary Cove – Pines is the only Arnold Palmer signature golf course in Australia and is rated by Golf Australia as one of the nation’s most challenging courses.

With an AGU rating of 76, the course has been home to two SKINS tournaments, and offers a very special golfing experience unlike any other on the Gold Coast. Carved through 101 hectares of established pine forest the course features corridor approaches to several holes with lakes guarding others.

Fourteen of the holes are contoured around six man-made lakes. The 6681 metre course is exclusive to Sanctuary Cove Country Club members and Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove hotel guests. An abundance of natural wildlife feature on The Pines including rare birdlife and scores of native Australian kangaroos.

Leading golfers have played The Pines including Adam Scott, John Daly, Laura Davies, Tom Watson and Peter Senior, however none capture the moment better than local Queenslander and Sanctuary Cove Touring Professional Adam Scott who states, “When I think of great golf in Australia, I think of The Pines at Sanctuary Cove, a true test of the game.”

We welcome enquiries from golf club members to play The Pines.

Played here the other day for the first time in a decade.. Decided to take on the white tees instead of the blues and didn’t find it as tough as I remembered. Fairways and greens in good condition. New clubhouse is worth a look.

It is well worth the effort getting on this course and you will benefit if you have a long tee shot in your bag. Greens were consistent and true, not the quickest but very receptive to attack the pin. Lots of testing golf but not over the top so you can relax and enjoy.

This was a very good course to play. Is long but reasonably forgiving. If you can't drive over 200-230m you will struggle! I think there is much better value on the coast at $160 a round!

Take out your driver, hit it hard and straight, pull it out and hit it again!

8,9,10,11 should have their own postcode - they are big enough.

This is a great course worth playing if you get the chance. When the wind gets up in the afternoon you will really have every facet of your game tested.

It's still a resort course so accuracy is not at a premium. Length on the other hand is vital.

Plenty of spectacular holes, great greens and immaculate facilities. The 18th hole is one of the best finishing holes in QLD. Get your scoring done on the front nine as the back nine doesn't give anything away.

One of the longest courses I have ever played, especially from the back tees.

During your round you'll experience many different shots as the course challenges every part of your game.

The course does often play soft, so remember to fly the ball to the flag where possible.

There is no doubt why they call this The Pines. Very interesting 1st hole...you'd swear it's a VW burial ground with all those mounds!

Worth the price!

The drinks cart was also a treat. Our playing partner managed to land his ball in it!
