The Grange Golf Club (East)
Adelaide, SA | User Rating:
(4.5) | Add A Review
The East Course has a very special place in Australian Golf history, having hosted the 1976 West Lakes Classic which was won by a 21 year old trainee professional named Greg Norman. The course is consistently rated amongst the very best in Australia.
The members of The Grange Golf Club set out to build a golf course that would equal the best there was to offer in South Australia. That has been well and truly achieved. We hope as you play this magnificent but challenging layout that some of the magic that Greg Norman found rubs off on you.

Grange East is part of the 36 hole complex located in the sand belt area of adelaide just a well hit drive from Royal Adelaide. As mentioned ,historically the first win of many by Greg Norman, West Lakes Classic 1976. In recent times the whole complex, Both the east and west courses have gone through a redesign, both for different reasons. The West has gone through a complete redisign 18 new greens and many new tees while still maintaining the character of the course. This is the course being used to host the Eisenhower Cup this year (Oct) The East however went through the redesign for another reason. As water in SA is becoming more expensive and less prolific, it was decided to enter into a partnership with local council and government bodies to place wetlands along one perimeter of the course. This demanded that two holes on the East course be changed to incorprate the necessary work. The end result is two holes bordered on the right by water, the opening up of the holes to the elements, and a superb linksy look to to the front nine of the course. New tees and definitely new challenges for all that play the course. The rest of the course has changed little in the past few years and maintains a tough ask for any level of golfer the. some will say that they prefer the beauty of the West course, some will say the enjoy the brutal honesty of the East course, I believe they are as good as each other and compliment each other in different ways. The members at Grange should consider themselves fortunate to be part of this bit of golfers Paradise. To be on the course at the time the sun is dipping into the horizon in the western skies and see the shadows and highlights that a golf course throws up at that time, is awesome
