Having had the pleasure of playing this course twice in the past six (6) months, (the Guest Day in November 2013 then on 'Bring A Lefty Day' in late-February 2014) this reviewer has had a very, very positive experience and recommends you make the trip. Wide, open fairways kept in excellent condition. Challenging, lengthy layout that rewards good strategy 'off the tee'. Receptive greens to meet the approach shots you'll play from fairways either above or below. Topping all this off is a level of hospitality that sets this Club apart. The dining room walls are adorned with boards that reflect this great Club's pride in both its heritage and its membership. Among the best that country Victoria has to offer.

Although the weather was far from pleasant at certain times, i had a ball playing Leongatha Golf Club. The santa ana fairways were perfect and it was clear that this course does not get the amount of traffic as the big smoke courses. I think my carpet at home would not have given me a better lie. Finding the fairway was a huge incentive, as beyond the rough lays the frightening shrubbery, which was always scary and often unplayable. The greens were great for the amount of rain and the recent coring. I only have myself to blame for the too often 3-putts. My playing partners told me that the bunkers were quite good to play out of, although i thought that they could add a few more as some holes seemed a little bare. The undulating terrain made the game interesting albeit a little tricky for the first timer. Beware of running out of room on a dog leg hole. I will definitely be back.

A pleasant drive from the west, with rolling hills and farmland along the A440, we were met with an unpretentious clubhouse and friendly staff. The ground was soggy from the previous day's rain and the greens were slow and bumpy. It could do with better drainage on its fairways.

Played here 27 Jan 2012 and was certainly very impressed. For those planning to visit, make sure your hybrid or 5W is working as you will use it off most tees. The person who said it was a hilly Woodlands was bang on the money. Firstly those on here saying how tough the walk was might want to do some squat thrusts or something as there are more than enough flat and shady holes to rest on, only the very uphill par 5 6th tests you. There are certainly a lot of doglegs, but sadly none really with a risk/reward scenario in trying to carry or work it around the corner. Too often a 200m drive to the corner left you with 100m in, and the doglegs were too tight to even try to carry. With some lengthening and tweaking of the doglegs the course would be an absolute gem, as the thick rough always provides the risk to aggressive plays. Finally only having 2 par 5s let the course down a bit. 9, 10 11 or 12 could probably be tweaked as there is plenty of bush around to move the tees or greens back. Favourite holes were the 16th (par 3 downhill over a gully (anything left, long or short runs off into Burke and Wills country) and par 5 18th (a good drive up the left opens the chance of carrying the dogleg 70m out to reach in two). Would definitely go back next time I am down that way.

Played the back nine a few weeks ago. Really good track. Greens are fast and fairways in immaculate condition. Plenty of holes that are nice and open so you can let it rip. You have to a bit of a think on quite a few holes - so don't always go for the driver. Good bunkering too. Like the 18th - good dog leg par 5.

Those who have review this course is absolute accurate. Couple of tough walking upwards holes. From the back white tee, is pretty long and will test your drives. Much more trees and scrubs off the fairway than Kew but similar to Latrobe. Better cond. than La Trobe but lose out to Kew. Played in the early afternoon and find too many spike marks near the pins.
