Nike | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-5 (5.0) | Add A Review

The Nike SasQuatch SUMO² driver features a powerful new square geometry to deliver the highest MOI in golf at 5300g cm². SUMO² stands for Super Moment of Inertia Squared. To achieve this radical geometry, Nike utilises a multi-material construction with a composite crown to save weight vs. a conventional titanium crown. The SUMO² is the ultimate driver for distance, forgiveness, and accuracy. This driver is also the widest driver on the field for early 2007 at 4.9 inches in front-to-back depth (US Golf Association's limit is 5 inches).

  • SUper MOment of Inertia Squared (SUMO²): Highest MOI – 5300g cm², by utilising a multimaterial construction and radical square geometry, this driver delivers superior forgiveness and greater distance
  • New Nike PowerBow design: Radical square design increases MOI for superior forgiveness and greater distance
  • Max Back CG: The SUMO² Nike PowerBow geometry moves the CG further back and lower than the original SasQuatch driver

The Nike SasQuatch SUMO² driver features a stock Diamana Shaft by Mitsubishi Rayon, which is a high performance golf shaft built for a blend of power and stability. This shaft is lightweight and has an optimised tip profile for distance and accuracy. Available in X, S, R, A, W.

I recently bought this driver because I was looking for something easy to hit being that I’m a beginner. After hitting hire clubs and having a crap time, I would use my brother’s Cleveland XL but still slice it. I know that a club can not correct a swig, so I learnt how to correct myself and slices a rare thing now with any club.

Back to the Nike….. I took this to the driving range to start with so I could get use to it before playing a round the next day. My first hit I sliced like always, then I corrected myself and got a shock from how straight it got and then distance it went from a small tap. Since I was still getting use to it, I wasn’t swining for distance. With a slow hit I was still getting 220m, so I can’t wait to see what I can get from a full swing.

Today I played golf with my brother, he would use his XL. Then I would use the SUMO and out-drove him on every drive as-well as be in the centre of the fairway. I can understand people noticing the sound, to me it sounds like a aluminium baseball bat. But I think its cool, and you can tell a good hit from a bad hit from the sound it makes.

Super cool driver, reccomend to anyone of any level.

I have recently picked up a new Nike Sasquatch sumo2 square driver and have taken it out on the course once and range once.

it is a fantastic club. this model is now superseded so you can pick it up from the US for a bargain. approx 250AUD. the square head seems to limit the club face rotation in my hands when driving and has really stopped me slicing the ball and added great distance to my drives. i now hit a long controlled fade.

really impressed with this club and would recommend to everyone who wants to hit a straighter ball!

Talk about coppin’ it from your playing partners. I pulled out my new driver (after testing driving many at various testing arrangements) in a Holden scramble event last week…. I had 5 hecklers instead of the usual 3 or less! But after about 7 – 8 holes the heckles and sledging turned to intrigue when my easy swings following the “CRACK” were flying straight past their “long” balls. What a magnificent club, and what a talking point!

"If I had payed £15 for that I would feel robbed" was what my pal said yesterday as I uncovered the yellow beast from its binbag of a head cover, and then I hit it - "what was that?... Is it designed by alcan?" Well if I had heard the "ting" this wonder wand emits then the pro at my course would still have this in his shop.

The sumo is ugly, the sumo is too big, the sumo sounds terrible, the sumo feels cheap and tacky but the sumo smacks the ball further and straighter than any other of the 20 drivers I have hit, I won the long drive medal today, I had only hit the sumo a dozen or so times and this beauty flew the ball past the 280 yard mark with ease.
