The 460cc titanium head features new internal weighting distribution that repositions the centre of gravity for lower spin rates and greater distance. Eight grams of weight was moved from the crown and face to the sole to achieve the lower CG location.
New face geometry ensures high ball speed for maximum distance. Similar in shape to the popular G2 driver, the confidence-inspiring head provides fairway-finding forgiveness and includes a thinner moon-graphic alignment aid.
The lower spin rates allowed the engineers to increase the available lofts (7.5º, 9º, 10.5º, 12º and 13.5º) by .5º to ensure golfers are fit to the proper launch angle. Three graphite shaft options are offered to further custom fit the driver. The PING TFC100D is the standard shaft and is available in four flexes (Soft R, Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff). The Aldila NV 65 and the Grafalloy ProLaunch 65 also are offered as stock shaft choices in three flexes (Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff).

I bought an i15 3 wood and it is awesome so I went in to test out the driver. Salesman gave me a G5 to take home so I could get some real play using a Ping headed driver to see if it suited. Well he’s not getting it back. Even if I do go onto purchase the i15 down the track for whatever reason (and I can’t think of any at the moment)then I will always have the G5 as a security blanket back-up – I love it. It is so accurate. The look of it at set up just gives you so much confidence that you are aiming in the right direction and that you ARE going to hit it there. The ball flight is terrific (using the 9^) and it really is very easy to control. I played a pressure riddled mathplay semi-final last week that went 21 holes and on the 15 holes that I pulled out the G5 I was playing from the fairway 14 times. And I also hit it further than the Callaway I was using before. Great club and you can get them cheap now too.
