TaylorMade R580 (Drivers)

TaylorMade | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-5 (5.0) | Add A Review

The R580 features the largest size and deepest face of any of the three drivers in the R500 Series; it was designed for players seeking maximum forgiveness and higher trajectory without added spin for the utmost distance.

The perfect choice for golfers seeking a higher launch angle without added spin for maximum distance.

If ever I lost or broke my R580Xd I would give up golf. I love this club and time and time again it loves me back. I put the Aldila NV stiff shaft in it and it goes either straight or with a slight draw. I think that after the 580xd they stopped improving on technology and the marketing BS started. love the fact miss hits still go ok.

I have used my R580XD driver now for over 3 years. It provides me with consistent and accurate distance when hit sweetly and even when I don’t strike the ball well, it is very forgiving. I have tried other drivers but always come back to this one. Now that it is illegal (heavens knows why !!) what can I replace it with ? Why can’t TaylorMade come up with a new legal replacement that is as goods as the 580 XD – I’ve tried their other offerings, but nothing comes close to this one.

A very solid choice for a 1w. Have used it for about 8months now and have found it to be a forgiving driver when you are off, but also a very good driver distance-wise when you are on. I won’t be changing anytime soon.

I have been using an R580 with a Penley Stealth 70 for 3 years now. I recently went to a major golf demo day were I had the opportunity to hit all the latest drivers. These included Taylormade R7TP, R5TP, Cleveland launcher comp 460, Nike ignite 460, Powerbilt 460 TPS, Hogan CS3 & Callaway 454.

In overall the only clubs that came close to the length and accuarcy was the R7TP and the Cleveland but there was no logic or reason to change because the benefits in comparison to the R580 was never wirth $500+ dollars.

In conclusion the R580 head was one of there best with the right shaft it makes the new stuff look overpriced.

I have used the same driver for 10 years. I refused to change because I hit my Yonex ADX Titanium so straight. However I hit the 580 just as straight only 20-30 metres further. When I "lean" on a drive, I cannot hit this driver OFF the fairway. Simply the best addition to my game I can remember. I would recommend this driver to anyone seeking length as well as accuracy. What a fantastic buy!!!!

The R580 has improved my game. I am now confident that the off the tee i will get good distance and the line will be on or around about the fairway. I've never before chipped sandwedges onto par 4's but do now.

This driver (R580XD) has made all the difference to my game. Traded up from a smaller steel headed club and will never look back. Straight and long with an easy swing - suddenly I have confidence with driver off the tee & use it whenever I can. Huge head, very light, and very forgiving for those off-centre hits.

The club just feels great in you hands. Very forgiving, you don't have to hit the sweetspot to get good distance

I have tried other drivers but nothing comes close to my new 580 XD, I have never hit a ball as far.

This is simply the best driver I have ever hit. The feel off the clubface is sensational. It just goes and goes and goes.

If you want to hit it straight and long this is the driver for you. Okay, it will be illegal in 2008 but until thenit's the one for me.
