TaylorMade r7 quad (Drivers)

TaylorMade Golf has introduced the r7 quad, a remarkable driver featuring a completely new technology called TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC). TLC gives players the freedom to change the driver’s launch conditions by redistributing 24 grams of discretionary weight in a variety of ways. While the average driver delivers a single set of launch conditions, the r7 quad delivers six, allowing the player to choose the one that generates maximum distance, accuracy and workability.

I have been using this driver for a while now and I must say its certainly one of the best I have ever hit. My bag is now comprised of all Taylor Made products (putter excepted however I have trialled the ‘Daytona’)

I have upgraded to TM R7 Superquad and had an original TM R7 quad before. The Superquad is easily the best driver i have had which delivers fine performance. I am experimenting with changing the weight configuration to get the optimem play ability and ball flight. To be fair you have to have a swing which generally repeats to take full advantage of the moveable weights. Like most TM products i don’t think anyone will be disapointed with an R7.

I have had my TM425 Quad 9.5 degrees for nearly two years now and I love it. It was worth every cent. The only thing I have tried since that came any where close for me was the new TM Burner 10.5 a nice driver but I’ll stick to my quad!

Have had heaps of different drivers, bought a R7 quad 425 tp, 8.5degree, S flex, 65 gram shaft, this driver will stay in the bag for a long time as it by far the driver i ahve owned.

Love the TaylorMade Quads. I have the 400 & 425 TP models and can’t make up my mind which is the best. The 400 is 10.5 degrees with the Mitsubishi shaft and the 425 has 9.5 degrees and the standard TP shaft with Rombax Technology. They are not a miracle club that has led to straight long drives every time I swing them, but I have become a lot more consistant since I have had them. I think this is due to the fact that the faces set up very square at address and make them very easy to aim. I have tried the Callaway 460 and hate the way the face seems to be very curved at address. I think this also creates more of a slice with off centre (towards the toe) hits. Just my opinion from experience. Moving heavier weights to the front definitely makes a big difference to ball trajectory (height) but moving them to try and create a fade or draw does not seem to have a huge difference. Eg: you still need to be able to square the face at impact, the club will not automatically do it for you. The best thing about the weights are that you can dramatically change the swing weight to suit your swing very easily, just experiment until it feels good and you are maximising your distance.

Have had the club for about six months now and realised what I've been missing all this time!!! Drives carry an extra 10-15 meters. Can consistently hit it 250-275 with no extra effort (previous driver was an R580) with a nice right to left shape. I have the TLC set up for a slight draw. Would definitely recommend picking one up (especially as they are discounted now with the release of the r425 and r460).

Sounds good launches well and looks like something from a sci-fi movie. Can't say that shifting weights are doing much for me, I find that shaping shots still requires a different action for me. I can set up for a fade and still launch a massive draw without much fuss. I just leave the weights in neutral position.

It was very forgiving and it had added a extra 10 metre's in distance on my drives which made making Par 5's in 2 interesting. I hope the person who has it now 1. Plays Golf and 2 has it stolen from them so as then they may no how it feels!

I like it alot but I disagree with a persons ability to change their ball flight (draw, fade etc) by just adjusting the weights.

Smaller head than the R580XD and I reckon less distance.

I believe to a certain extent that it takes the skill out of the game.

Nonetheless a nice driver.Better than most current products on the market

r7 tp quad is the best driver on the market and the second best is daylight.

Didn't believe the hype but kind of ended up with one my mate got as a gift. It's the TP version, 8.5° with the Speeder 'X' in it. It's a very soft 'X' so if you hit it strong go the 'X' not the 'S'. I thought I'd set it up for a mid-draw and took it to the range and all I could hit was fade after fade after fade. Realised I'd set it up wrong and reversed it and sure enough a beautiful little draw appeared. Now aim it down the right every time with all the confidence in the world. Still don't love the idea of it but can't argue with the results.

I do not reget the money I spent on the R7 club, the results speak for themselves. Longer drives and more fairways. I love the deep face it so forgiving. Even miss hits go along way and if you find the sweet spot - look out. I have the heavier 10g weights set at the front for a low piercing trajectory. Its a good 15-20mtrs longer than my old Cobra driver. My friends all want one now and I don't blame them. If you are in the market for a new driver look no further.

I traded from a wilson Deep Red 2. Noticed the difference immediately. For distance you really need to hit the ball. Needs more effort than the Wilson to get the same distance. Much more consistant club. I have a slight draw so the weight are just in standard position. Much better roll than the wilson. You can really get hte best from premium balls (titleist V1x) Would highly recommend for anyone with a fade they want to get rid of, changing weights makes a big diff to ball shape. I can set it up for large draw to large fade !! My swing speed is 110 mph dist 275m -300m

Yep, change the weight plugs around and you have a new driver!!! Only a consistent swing will take advantage of this driver. Having played with the R580XD, this is smaller and easier to get used to!! I would say they are very silmilar in length but i'm hitting more fairways with the R7!!!! This driver ROCKS!!!!

Very forgiving long driver. Best I have ever owened. Not sure worth upgrading if you already own the R540XD because they otherwise play very similar. Weight adjustments to make shots go higher or lower is useful, but I amnot convinced most people are competent enough to make the most of draw/fade bias adjustments.
