TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad (Drivers)

TaylorMade | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-5 (5.0) | Add A Review

The r7 SuperQuad combines the power and forgiveness of a 460cc clubhead – the maximum size allowed by the USGA – with the ability to promote changes to the launch angle, spin-rate and trajectory. For players who demand the freedom to dial in specific sets of launch conditions in their pursuit of greater distance, the SuperQuad is the longest driver with Movable Weight Technology (MWT) that we’ve ever created.

The r7 SuperQuad is engineered for players who prefer to assess and calculate before launching the ball, who enjoy tweaking their equipment in attempts to optimise their equipment and eke the absolute most out of their physical abilities. SuperQuad players like options. They value course management and approach the game as a chess player would.

The SuperQuad’s performance is further bolstered by the new 65-gram TaylorMade SuperFast RE*AX shaft with .350 tip by Fujikura. RE*AX is a tour-proven technology that reduces “ovaling” to promote greater stability and consistency for increased distance and accuracy. Four flexes are available: X, S, R and M.

The r7 SuperQuad is available in four lofts – 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5°. Its clubface alignment is slightly closed and its CG is exceptionally low, making it a great option for players in the Improving and Skilled category.

I bought this after owning a R5 425 for years. I’m now playing off single digits and this driver has complimented my rapidly improving game to a t. I have a 9.5 loft and re/ax stiff shaft with a measured swing speed of 120 mph. I’ve really been able to let go with this club and its not uncommon for me to slap it out 280 to 290 metres. Even on mis-hits, which are becoming fewer and fewer, it’s typical to get out over 230m. I’ve been experimenting with the weight configuration and actual weight and can hit a draw or fade at will, plus the extra weights mean I should soon be putting it out over 300 metres!

Probably not the right club for a high handicapper, although it is extremely forgiving, may be a waste for those shooting over 80. I’ll be endeavouring to get down to scratch and below this season and my confidence is sky high after this purchase.

I recommend this club to all accomplished golfers and thank taylor made for another awesome quality product.

I’ve got a 10.5 with just a stock regular shaft and never hit a driver so far or consistent. It gives me a perfect ball flight and dont have to change the weights its workable enough as it is.

I bought this driver as an upgrade from the R7 460. Wow. I was fitted with a 10.5 degree regular flex R7 460 and never really hit a fairway and ballooned the ball high into the wind. Some self diagnosis and testing several drivers, I got a 9.5 stiff Superquad and wow. I hit it straight and long, upto 50 meters on average further than the R7.

Never played with the weights in 2 months owning this club . Set up for a neutral high trajectory shot as standard. The sound when hit is an unbelievable smack that tells you you’ve hit it well and the club seems to recoil after hitting the ball. What a great feeling for me anyway.

The black face looks great at address and the head is not overpoweringly big to look at. The black face also gives instant feedback as to where the ball connected with it’s white imprint being left behind.

Forgiving! Miss hits off the toe and heel go straight and fly long. 200+ meters not uncommon miss hits for me, even off the extreme toe of the club, my average good drives in order of about 230-240m in total, with a measured driver swing speed of about 95mph. (with R7460 in hand)

I also love the swing weight of this club. I can feel the head going through the swing, the R7460 was like swinging a shaft. The heavier re-ax 65 shaft suits me well. I can swing this club hard and get better results than trying to place it down the fairway.

This club may not suit everyone but has helped me drop 5 shots in about 6 weeks…. and am continuing to hit fairways which is what I bought this club for. The extra length is a bonus.

On a final note, I can draw and fade this club seemingly at will. The only other driver I could ever do that with was the TM Burner but couldn’t hit that one straight :(
