Titleist 905T (Drivers)

Titleist | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.0) | Add A Review

Titleist takes driver performance to the next level with the introduction of the new Titleist Pro Titanium 905 series. The new Pro Titanium 905T and 905S models are built upon a successful heritage of technology, engineering, and craftsmanship, and feature new material and design technology to meet and exceed the requirements of the serious golfer for looks, feel and ball flight.

The new 905 drivers feature an innovative multi material design including a CNC milled, high grade, structural aluminum hosel tube, precise cast titanium body, and a thin, high-strength beta titanium face insert. This construction allows for unproductive mass to be removed from the hosel area and strategically relocated into internal weight pads, creating a more optimal center of gravity. The plasma welded beta titanium face insert is supported by a thin outer face flange, and produces higher ball speed and the maximum allowable Coefficient of Restitution. The cleaner plasma weld process eliminates weld material in the face to create a more efficient overall weight distribution.

The 905T features a larger front-to-back profile size for increased dynamic loft at impact and a slightly higher launch angle than the 905S. The 905S features a deep face design for reduced spin versus the 905T. The larger 400cc head sizes of both the 905T and the 905S offer outstanding playability and their highly accepted true pear profiles are designed to meet the visual requirements of tour professionals and competitive golfers.

Didn't intend to buya new driver, but demo'd some drivers on sale at range, & ...surprise... the most expensive one performed & felt the best! Damn, wanted a bargain! Still overpriced at a smidgin over half of the RRP (now on ebay for < US$200), but that's only 50c extra a week for the time I'll keep it. You don't have to be on single-figures to benefit from this club. I'm a "serious" player I guess, but shoot in 90's, 80's on a good day. Better control & accuracy, easier to draw than my old Bang. Good distance when you get it right in the centre with a draw; I like the guide arrow on head, & instant visual feedback on face showing where you hit it. More solid feel at impact, not "tinny" like my Bang, & the Ping G2 which I also tried. Although R flex shaft, doesn't seem as whippy as the Cobra 414 I tried same day. Stock Aldila NV65 came with this club, semi-cord grip feels good. Head cover a bit garish with 3 stripe colours, & apparently they unravel pretty quicklyshould be Italian leather at this price!
