The ERC II Driver has created a world wide stir with it ‘s hot "ultra-thin" Forged Titanium face (which has been deemed illegal for tournament play by the USGA.. From Callaway Golf: "A revolutionary breakthrough in golf club technology," the ERCII features, "a large, ultra-thin forged titanium face with ’Variable Face Thickness’ (VFT) Technology, and delivers greater ball speed, forgiveness."

It's perfect if you hit it in the middle, if not look out! Not a club for higher handicaps. Skinny hooks can be the order of the day, lots of better drivers around and cheaper.

I tried a demo ERC II 10` with an Ultralight Regular shaft. I used it in a comp without any range time and I was pleasantly surprised. Long and straight with a nice draw. I did hook one, but in general the club was superb. I teed the ball high (I use a brush tee) and made a conscious effort to swing long and smooth. At the end of the round I was regretting the fact that I didn't have more drives to hit. Pity about the price.

Size of sweet spot is same as golf ball.

You gotta hit it with driver's sweet spot to get spring action. At least 80% of golf ball surface.

Penalty for miss hit is very severe.

Once you "got" it, ball fly like a
bat out of hell to green.

I hit between 140~290 yds.

Good for practice to sweet spot.

Eventually You'll get it somehow.

The ERC II is in my opinion not really a club for high handicap golfers. I'm off single figures and still couldn't get it to work all the time ;)

When you do get one pure the distance is awesome but these are far too infrequent for my liking.

It seems to have the ability to introduce a duck hook into your game like no other club - I know I'm not alone in this.

Unfortunately its inconsistency outweighs its benefits.
