I have been hunting for a really forgiving set of irons for ages. I had been using Wilson DI5âÄôs which are by no means bad clubs at all. I saw a set on eBay for $600 delivered. They had only been hit 6 times so they were a real bargain.
So off I went to the course with excitement and they delivered in spades. Number 1- they go a mile. Number 2-itâÄôs easy to control the ball they area midsized head but feel slightly oversize. Yet I was able to shape the ball pretty well. These have a Titanium face so the ball rockets off the face. Spin wise they are also very good, ball stopped dead in tracks on the greens. They are slightly off set so squaring the club face is pretty easy. I was even able to hit a 4 iron. Nice piercing ball flight instead of the ballooning flight you get with so many irons these days. I play on windy course that is exposed so itâÄôs great, they also have no jarring at all they just âÄúhurtâÄù the ball at impact. ItâÄôs like you havenâÄôt even hit it.
I am not going to say go rush out and get these because they are a bit hard to findâĦthey are early 2005 model. So eBay is a good chance. I play off 13 and had no trouble hitting them at all. The research I did said they were forgiving yet lower handicappers would also benefit. The Callaway grips also feel nice (quite spongy and soft)
