Wilson Staff Smooth (Drivers)

Wilson Staff | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.5) | Add A Review

Designed for the player desiring a more traditional shape and style, the Wilson Staff 460cc Smooth driver features a cool exterior that belies an explosive internal weighting system and variable face geometry that delivers maximum distance.

The Wilson Staff Smooth driver incorporates progressive internal weight distribution, creating a progressive dynamic loft and offering options to a wide variety of player types. The driver also features high COR (coefficient of restitution), generating higher ball speed and resiliency off the face of the driver.

The Wilson Staff Smooth driver uses a new variable face thickness design that doubles the size of the high CT area, relative to a standard constant thickness face. This yields higher ball speeds across a large area of the face no matter where it connects with the ball when it is hit.

The new Wilson Staff Smooth Driver features the Fujikura E-Fit Shaft Technology. The E 100 series is offered in the R and R2 flex shafts and is designed for a more relaxed swing tempo, providing increased tip flexibility resulting in a higher ball launch with slightly more spin. The E 300 series is offered in the S and X flex shafts and is designed for the stronger, faster tempo golfer that desires low spin and a mid launch trajectory.

I have been useing the Wilson Spine driver for some months and found that to be a nice club to use, but decided to purchase a smooth driver from EBay and i dont regret doing it. I changed the shaft in the club and had a Pro force V2 High launch shaft put in, and it is fabulos to hit. 9 degree loft, gives a lot lower ball flight and on a windy day you can see the extra distance that I am getting. The Smooth Driver looks classy and is value for money, compared with other clubs at a far higher pricer.

The WS Smooth Driver is a very under rated club and I can fully guarantee it’s purchase. Looks great with the conventional pear shape and it sounds just spot on. This Driver is long and has a large sweet spot. A ball hit badly out of the toe still performs at 80/85%.

I have just tried out my new Wilson Staff Smooth driver and it’s fulfilled all my expectations. The club is a sleek black with nice shape and a sweet sound. From hitting 5 fairways a round I have hit 10 and, although the distance is not there yet, I am much happier on the short grass where I can hit my 19.5o Fybrid with ease. Mind you I am a high handicapper and I am sure the lowies will make it work a tad harder. Overall the club gives me a great sense of confidence so thumbs up.
