Variable Face Thickness Technology makes Steelhead X-14 even more forgiving and consistent than its predecessor, the Big bertha X-12. Long irons fly higher and land softer. Short Irons give maximum distance control. A new sole reduces drag and increases versatility from a variety of lies.

The X-14 features a more classic look with a thinner top line and more rounded lines. The New X-14 graphite Shafts offer a softer feel while reducing torque. The new Constant Weight steel shafts provide better balance and consistent feel.

x-14s are beautiful to hit if you can hit them consistant but has alot of forgiviness than imagined and i've had to go up 3 irons compared to my old pgf's where i would have used a 3 iron now i use a 6 iron and these clubs rock but the only problem with them is rust at the bottom where the shaft comes out.

I played with a set over the weekend (27 holes): X14s fitted with regular graphite shafts

The first noticeable thing I felt with the irons were the lack of control I had with the club, and this is due to the shaftÖitís too soft and whippy for me. I hit a couple of full short irons in and they would just come out as strong draw shots which werenít factored in. When I did hit a few punch shots in, the ball came out quite nicely, albeit longÖprob due to the shaft again.

Another aspect of the irons that I hated was the way the 8,9 and Pw looked at addressÖvery cumbersome and ugly. They felt very good, but the top lines of these short irons are quite distracting. The 3-7 irons didnít seem to bother me as much, and in fact the long irons were perhaps the easiest Iíve ever tested and used.

The distance was probably on par with my revos, having prob only gained about an extra 5 yards max (used Wilson True Tour / Strata Tour Ultimate) over my current set but the ball really flies very high (shaft kick points)Öa lot higher than my own set. Whilst great downwind, itís a pain into. This is probably due to the weighting of the club and the light weight of the shafts; the ball just seems to want to take off as soon as possible.

All in all, I would have to say that these are great clubs (when fitted to spec), and is a set worth considering just for the pure easiness of hitting the golf ball. It should inspire a lot of confidence in the normal weekend golfer, and may also be at home with some low markers.
