I have had quite a few sets of irons at various times and at the time I had them they all seemed fine, however since getting myself a set of Callway X14 pro series irons I am a firm believer that the brand name clubs are more expensive for a reason. I got down to a handicap of 10 with various other brands (PGF, Mizuno, Spalding Etc.) but I can honestly say that these irons are the first clubs I have ever been able to purposely shape a fade or draw with. I now have the confidence to try any shot on the course during a round, which has come in handy at times! I highly recommend you give them some thought if you come across a good second hand set. (They are still getting good money on Ebay)
Mine have 5.5 rifle shafts which seem to suit my swing nicely.
