Ping G15 (Drivers)

Ping | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.5) | Add A Review

The G15 Driver is engineered for golfers seeking a maximum forgiveness driver that delivers distance and accuracy. Its 460cc titanium head is longer front to back and features PING’s patented ultra-thin crown technology. Weight savings from the thin crown are positioned as an external sole weight to optimize the center of gravity for higher trajectories and reduced spin.

A larger face is designed to increase ball speed and provide consistency across the entire hitting surface. The new PING-designed TFC149D high balance point shaft allows for a five gram increase in head mass (without increasing swingweight or overall weight) which results in higher ball speeds and an increased moment of inertia.

  • Four lofts: 9°, 10.5°, 12°,13.5°
  • Draw version: 9°, 10.5° and 12°
  • Available in PING-designed TFC149D (L, Soft R, R, S and X flexes) and Aldila Serrano 60 (R, S and X flexes)
  • US MSRP: US$350 (graphite shaft only)

Bought the G15 (10.5 Deg, Reg Serrano Shaft) after having tried the R11 and the D2 a few times on course.
I was previously misled into buying a 9 Deg Big Bertha with a extra stiff shaft with a very low point of flex. I couldn’t get any consistency with it.
I now regularly hit 250, with the odd 270-280m drive. The important factor though is the fact that I’m hitting 80% + fairways.

PROS

  • Accuracy
  • Sound at impact

Cons

  • Doesn't look as cool as some of the new drivers

Tried a few drivers at a demo day and it was between this and the Callaway Razr Hawk. In the end went with the Ping with the Serrano shaft which I preferred over the standard TFC shaft.

Bought this after a demo. Was somewhat dubious when the guy told me i should combine an extra stiff serrano with 12 degree head seeing as my ss is 110mph-115mph but hey that’s what they get payed for. On the first outing hit 10/14 fairways with 4 being hooked probably 15-20 metres. Second outing 9/14 blowing a gale……launch is higher naturally compared to my titleist 905r 10.5. distance is same unless into strong wind..mishits are 10 times better, 10-15 metres loss of distance and half the sideways movement….i normally hate ping but this is a winner…b sure to get fit on n flight and don’t take what they say as a dent to your manhood..a 65 year old dude laughed at me when i had 12 degree written on the head and he had 9.5…but he needed driver, wedge to get to my drive……SUCKA

bought G15 after having callaway FT3 before,I thought I was hitting the callaway along way averaging 260 metres. At the moment my G15 is averaging 265m-270m most times off the tee.Helps hitting shorter irons into most of the greens.AWESOME DRIVER PING

Bought a new G15 after using the G10 for last few years. I prefer the G10. I had the V2 Proforce shaft fitted and I am not sure if this is the reason I prefer the older model, but I can definitely hit the G10 further and can draw it where I cannot draw the G15 and I shoot 76 regularly.
