Callaway FT-i Neutral (Drivers)

Callaway | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.5) | Add A Review

The new FT-i Driver features a revolutionary square clubhead design that expands on Callaway Golf’s superior weight-shifting Fusion technology platform that uses multiple materials in clubhead construction. The new 460cc Complete Inertial Design precisely positions discretionary weight in the outer corners of the clubhead and was designed to produce the highest total inertia of any driver on the market. The resulting resistance to both horizontal and vertical twisting provides unrivalled forgiveness and more distance on every drive.

The FT-i Driver also incorporates Callaway Golf’s proprietary OptiFit Weighting System, which produces three centre of gravity configurations – Draw, Neutral or Fade – and enables golfers to choose the configuration that best suits their individual game. It also boasts Callaway Golf’s largest, most robust CT/VFT titanium cup face, which is designed to the legal limit to dramatically increase ball speed, distance, forgiveness and stability for longer, straighter drives.

The new FT-i Driver is available in both standard and Tour models as well as men’s and women’s versions. The standard models feature lofts of 9°, 10°, 11°, and 13° (HT) and feature the new Fujikura Speeder 586 shaft in light, regular and stiff flexes. The 10° and 11° models are available left handed. The Tour version has a slightly more open face, comes in 8.5° and 9.5° lofts and features the new Fujikura Speeder 686 shaft in regular, stiff and extra-stiff flexes, and the 9.5° model is available left-handed.

I have just started using this driver in a 9 degree stiff shaft I have a swing speed of about 100mph. Once I got used to it I started hitting 250m+ and finding most fairways. This driver has helped me a lot giving me the confidence to attack the hole end gives me a better 2nd shot.

PROS

  • Added distance and more accurate drives.

Cons

  • If swing speed is to slow than you don't hit accuratley

Totally agree. I’m a high handicapper and this club is very very forgiving. Your mis-hits are not as severely punished as with other clubs. It also gives you great confidence when standing at the tee.

Don’t get me wrong. This is still a club and you still need to take lessons but it sure makes life a wee bit easier for a weekend warrior like moi. Make sure you get fitted for the right shaft though!

Like to hit it straight with minimium effort then this is the club for you. Since I got this club I have finished first or second in my club competitions every week, dropped my handicap by 3 strokes. All this can be contributed to putting my drives on the fairway and having the confidence to hit driver on tight holes also.
