Nike IC 20-10A Classic Blade (Putters)

Even the simplest putt is fraught with breaks, slopes and grain direction. That’s more than enough stuff to look at, which is why we designed the IC putter. By using optical engineering to tune the color, shape and contrast of the entire club, the visual footprint of the shaft and the club head itself is reduced. This dramatically emphasises the alignment aid, enhancing your ability to visualise the ball track at address. Now you can pull off a little visual trick of your own: making the ball disappear from sight.

Working with Nike’s Optical Research Director, we optimised the shape, location, and contrast of the alignment aid to focus your eyes on the putter face. This helps square the face in relation to the hole and start your putts on line.

The distinctive, continuous green color of the shaft and head minimises visual noise and mutes the areas of the club that are not critical. This enhances the focus on the alignment aid, the ball, and the line of the putt.

CNC milled fl at to precise tolerances to enhance accuracy, predictability and distance control across the putter face. High moment of inertia stabilises the head throughout the stroke and at impact for greater confidence and improved accuracy.

I always thought I had a good putting stroke until I tried this putter. Having used the same blade for over 15 years, and continuing to have putting be the only part of my game to let me down repeatedly, I thought it was time to give a new putter a try.

The first thing that grabbed me was the feel you get with this putter, and a fantastic level of control.

As well as this the non-reflective back and alignment aides really help to keep your eye focussed on the ball and keep your stroke aligned and smooth. It really makes you aware of when you’‘re coming inside, or not hitting the ball square, and I actually find that it helps me line up the put through the ball to the hole.

I’m still getting used to it, it being a little lighter than my previous putter, but I cannot stress enough the level of feel you get with this putter.

If there are any cons, I would say that the strong kink at the bottom of the shaft tends to hit the back of the other club shafts while in my bag, and tends to weaken the shafts of the other clubs in my bag. Perhaps I just need a thicker and longer cover!

Standard grip is a little too firm for me, but overall this is an excellent putter and has already shaved strokes off my game.

PROS

  • Excellent alignment aides
  • good weight
  • well balanced
  • non reflective back

Cons

  • sharp kink in shaft can damage clubs
  • needs thicker cover
