Titleist AP2 (Irons)

Titleist | Irons | User Rating: Rate-5 (5.0) | Add A Review

To achieve the ball speed and launch conditions, the AP1 and AP2 incorporate multi-material construction and a dual cavity. The back sole is comprised of a tungsten nickel alloy intended to optimise launch conditions and for a larger range of swing speeds.

The AP irons are built using four different materials: a steel body, a tungsten nickel steel box, a central support bar with an elastomer cushion, and an aluminum cavity plate. The AP1 iron body is cast from 431 stainless steel while the AP2 is forged with 1020 mild carbon steel.

The Titleist AP2 Irons are like the AP1 irons in the fact they are also multi-material constructed and dual cavity, but the resemblance ends there. The AP2s use chrome-plated technical forging for the skilled, single digit golfer who wants contemporary iron technology with traditional solid feel, looks and shot control.

  • Dual Cavity, Multi-Material Design: Upper and lower cavities optimize weight distribution to the perimeter, while the precise forged steel body with high density tungsten nickel box provide feel, forgiveness and performance. Elastomer cushion on central support bar dampens vibration for outstanding feel.
  • Tungsten Nickel Box: High density material located in the back and sole encloses the lower cavity to locate weight low and deep for performance while providing structural rigidity and low frequency vibration dampening for unmatched feel.
  • Thin Face: Distributes additional weight low and deep to help improve the weight distribution and performance.

The AP2 irons with come standard with the Precision Project X Stock Shaft which provides for a medium launch and outstanding spin control as well as the Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber made by Golf Pride.

I’ve played Titleist irons for 10 years and I just recently picked these little babies up, they are awesome. Strong flight and yet forgiving for a mis-hit.

Played Mizuno forged for 15+ years.
Switched to AP-2’s three months ago.
Stunning club…. dead easy to use, but can still shape shots as you want. Sort of a Ping Eye 2 meets Mizuno TP blades with the best qualities of each club.

All golfers are prone to exaggeration, but these babies are going to be in my bag a long time, top shelf gear. Cannot fault, thin topline, probably titleist’s most forgiving irons. AAA

These irons are easy to hit and the wider sole help when hitting of hard surfaces. One thing that put me off is that a part the back of the club is visible at address.

These irons are the bees knees !! Awesome profile, thin top line and forgiving to boot… Titleist’s first attempt to embrace the latest technology suggests they are by far the Number 1 golf club manufacturer in the world.
