Callaway Tour ix (Balls)

Callaway Golf engineers have taken a giant leap forward, re-inventing tour golf ball performance. The new Tour ix Golf Ball is the most technologically advanced and longest tour ball we’ve ever made, featuring innovative 4-piece inertia technology. 4 pieces, 2 cores, 1 unbeatable ball.

Tungsten-Infused Outer Core
The ball’s high-density outer core moves weight away from the center of the ball for increased Moment of Inertia (MOI) resulting in reduced driver spin for increased distance.

Dual Core Construction
The ball’s dual core construction allows for great distance off the tee while still offering spin around the green. The softer inner core provides low spin off the driver for great distance while the firmer outer core provides high driver speed and high chip-shot spin around the green.

Mantle Layer
Works with the dual core to produce high ball speed and its higher density moves more weight away from the center to increase MOI and reduce driver spin to maximize distance.

New Thermoset Urethane Cover
Provides superior feel and short-game spin for excellent greenside control.

Have played these balls a couple of times. Give a great feel off the irons. Reasonable distance off the tee and gives a good feel around the greens. The only problem I found with them was that the soft feel meant that I had to literally smash the ball with the putter on the greens. Will not hesitate to use the ball in the Summer on fast greens but will keep it in the bag during the Winter.

I have to argee with the last two reviews.
These balls are softer than pro v1’s with as much if not more spin.
they feel great off the club (if you hit a bad one, or you won’t feel it at all.)
I have not noticed any real lack of distance off the tee either.
I have purchased some for good prices too. Between $50 to $60 a box wich makes them good value for quality ball.(cheaper than prov1’s)
I have been using the ones in the silver box so far but might try the gold boxed ones in summer as they supposed to be even softer with more spin again.
In summary a good quality ball with a great feel for a reasonable price.
would reccomend these to all players.

Won some of these so was happy to try them out. Straight out of the box you can tell they are soft, the cover is almost tacky, (as in sticky not as in bad taste.) Off the club they feel great and they provide plenty of spin. Too much for me at times, 4m of suck back from a 7 iron is just too unpredictable. I would liken them to proV1*, probably softer and more spin. Great ball for hard dry greens in summer, but for winter too soft for me.

Having played pro v1 and warbird balls for years, a box of ix from the kids for my birthday was an unexpected surprise. Even more suprising was the performance of these balls. I pride myself on my long iron play, and after stinging in a 4i from about 200m was amazed at how quickly these balls check. Feel was great around the greens and distance was as good if not better than the por v1 and warbird. Will only be playing these balls from now on.
