TaylorMade Tour Burner (Drivers)

TaylorMade | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-4 (4.5) | Add A Review

Crucial to the Tour Burner driver’s performance is TaylorMade’s new Dual Crown technology, wherein the size of the crown is noticeably smaller than the large sole. The smaller crown is 12% lighter than the crown of TaylorMade’s Burner driver. Also crucial is TaylorMade’s Ultra-Thin Wall casting technology, which allows the clubhead walls to measure as little as .55 millimeters thick.

The weight saved by the Tour Burner driver’s Dual Crown and Ultra-Thin Wall technologies is redistributed to create an exceptionally low CG location – among the lowest ever in a TaylorMade driver. On a vertical axis, the Tour Burner’s CG is positioned 40% lower in relation to the center of the clubface than the Burner TP.

The Tour Burner driver head’s exceptionally high MOI makes it extremely stable and forgiving on off-center hits. That benefit, combined with the advantage provided by TaylorMade’s renowned Inverted Cone clubface technology, results in even higher ball speed on off-center hits.

The Tour Burner’s large sole serves a second valuable purpose by creating an expansive address footprint that promotes increased confidence, and the advanced clubhead geometry delivers the kind of great impact sound and feel for which TaylorMade drivers are famous.

The Tour Burner also features TaylorMade’s SuperFast technology, embodied by the combination of a SuperFast 60-gram shaft that combines low torque (2.8) with a stiff .350” tip, an extra-light grip and a club-length of 45.5”. Together these components promote faster swing speed for increased distance.

Availability begins at TaylorMade’s retail partners in April 2008 at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$499.

Also had a hit at a Drummond.. Ball flight was consistently 14’-16’ and was clearing 280-290 metres on the fly, and it has got rid of my slice as it is more of a hitters club… My swing speed is between 116 – 119 mph so I like to give it a wack and it loves it… Ordered mine with a 9.5’ loft and Stiff Shaft, should be ready for pickup in the next day or so…

OK Im always nervours when TM bring out new gear..as it happens too often for my liking, they are worse than women who need new shoes all of the time. This is a beast yet its 450CC head sits square and looks nice at adress. Ball flight isnt as high as the standard burner. Its much easier to shape the ball with, legth its the same as most of the burner range, yes its low spin of the face which means less wild hooks left or big cuts right thats got to be a good thing. Im off 11 and have no problem hitting the 9.5 dgree but went for a 10.5 dgree just be safe…makes a lovely sound too and the back crown looks sleek, the stock fuji shaft is 60 grams and its a 45.5 inch shaft which is better for control

the real test was when I had windy day, this driver really bores into the wind.

I was hitting 240 eassily with no wind…and slow fairways

Had a hit with da burner at golf shop at lunch, almost put my money down on one.Continued to hit 12-14 degree launches Houston told me. Its the new path preferred flight these days,a bit flatter but heaps more frequent flying…not too over-sized either…impressed indeed! should be able to ‘drive for show’ and get the doe with this one.
