TaylorMade Burner (2008) (Drivers)

IN: PRODUCT REVIEWS | TaylorMade | Drivers | USER RATING: (5.0) | Add A Review

The newest Burner driver ingeniously combines the SuperFast technology of the 2007 Burner with the Dual Crown technology of the Tour Burner. The result? A driver weighing less than 300 grams that promotes faster swing speed, a higher launch angle and lower spin-rate, equaling a dramatic boost in distance. The two best distance-producing technologies in years are combined in a single high-MOI driver.

Burner’s high-MOI titanium clubhead also features TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone Technology, imbedded into the back of a clubface that boasts more real estate (in other words, the largest) than any other TaylorMade driver. That means you can miss the center of the clubface by a lot and still make the ball go far.

Burner is equipped with a lightweight grip and SuperFast RE*AX 49-gram graphite shaft in X, S, R, M and L flexes. Lofts include 9.5º, 10.5º, HT (high trajectory). Available in men’s right-handed and left-handed; ladies’ right-handed. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is US$400, and it becomes available at retail starting on October 1, 2008.

Bought this driver 2 weeks from the states. I will break the review into categories.

I have never hit 250 into a slight headwind, I did this with the 2nd drive I it this club

Distance: Yes its long as alll Burners, yes the 46 1/4 inch shaft will give you added distance, might be too long for some but liked it

Accuracy and Forgivness: Its one of the best I have used for off centre hits, acuracy wise its good, tyou dont need to swing it too hard Ball flight, mid to high, its no where near as high as last years model, if you fade the ball it will still get up though Workability: Yes its a driver you can legitamatly shape the ball with wether it be a fade or draw Roll after landing: Good even rolls on a faded drive. Feel off the face and sound: feels soft off the face, realy feels like it has compressed on the face before launching, sound is dullish boof…it doesnt scare the ladies 3 holes away

General info, it sits squarer than last years model, its not as shut as the Tour model released 6 months ago.

Yes the 49 gram shaft swings easy, great driver for 40 year old plus guys like me who are losing strength year by year. having 46 1/4 inch inch shaft wont hurt either for middle aged guys.

It dwarfs the ball at address which inspires confidence, yep gonna rip it kind of look at address

The reg fuji shaft doesnt feel to whippy either as I have come back from a stiff a few years back.

all in all You cant wrong, it sits beautifully at address, its long its forgiving, you can shape the monster and the sound is good. look I have always felt TM make great drivers and garbage everything else, this driver I feel is awesome once again.
