Titleist 909D2 (Drivers)

Titleist | Drivers | User Rating: Rate-5 (5.0) | Add A Review

With a full pear profile and 460cc titanium construction, the Titleist 909D2 is a high performance driver delivering mid-launch with low to mid spin.

The 909D2 features a tour proven, modern profile that creates a low and deep CG for reduced spin, higher MOI, and longer, straighter drives.

The tuned sole of the 909D2 includes optimized pockets and an internal rib for reduced vibration, providing solid feel and better sound.

An integrated titanium blind bore hosel design saves weight, provides solid feel, and allows for more shaft options. The factory installed SureFit Swingweight Screw helps to position the CG deep while also providing a precise head to shaft match.

The stock shafts in the 909D2 and 909D3 are the Titleist Aldila Voodoo and Titleist Diamana Blue 65. The Titleist Aldila Voodoo is 72g, 3.3 degree torque, medium-stiff tip, with a mid-high flex point and medium trajectory. It features an internal spiral rib technology for added stability and solid feel.

The Titleist Diamana Blue is a 65g shaft, with a medium tip, mid flex point and medium trajectory. The Diamana design utilizes 20 unique types of graphite material.

Available in 8.5º, 9.5º, 10.5º, 11.5º. All lofts except 11.5º available in RH and LH.

Got the D2 in 9.5 degree with the stiff flex Diamana Blue shaft and golf pride red grip. The club looks like most titleist drivers, very solid and pleasing to the eye, with the Titleist grey rounded head setting up nicely behind the ball. The club offers a mid trajectory with mid to low spin. It sets up with a slightly open club face and is workable in both directions. For once I am not overswinging the driver (a habit I fall into with almost pathalogical devotion) and I’m being rewarded with a "slight draw" ball flight, which for me is a true blessing compareed to my usual power fade with the big dog. The sound feels rock solid, as does the feedback given through the hands, and it is a driver well worthy of your consideration.

The D2 is designed to have a mid trajectory (falling between the D3 and the D Comp) so titleist appear to have most trajectory needs covered with the 909 range. The one question everyone wants to know of course is …… is it long, and while it isn’t ahead of all other drivers in this category, it does hold it’s own with the TM burner for instance.

I’ve tried a few drivers over the last couple of years, Ping G10, Mizuno MX560, Callaway FT3 Tour, and TM ’09 burner among others, and while this club won’t add metres to your drives, perhaps it will enable you to hit more fairways, which is what I’m enjoying most about it. It’s fairly forgiving for a Titleist and it’s a rock solid, quality product.

I have the D2 with a mitsubishi javlyn m7 stiff shaft, this driver feels as good as the 905 but performs better. A very friendly long driver.

[I am about to order this driver – stiff shaft.

I am really looking forward to getting to know it – as the loan club is very solid.](GolferPJ)
The 909D2 is my first useable Oversize Driver( an MX500 Mizuno being my previous attempt). Two hits off the tee with the Demo Titleist and it felt right. Its fitted with the stock Diamana Stiff shaft.
The club is workable and a range of trajectories has been achievable .The stock Diamana is a fairly forgiving stiff shaft.Occasionally a drive into the wind will balloon, but hey where would be without ’pilot error’!.
