Nitties and Robertson to fight out NZ Amateur final

IN: News | New Zealand Mens Amateur | New Zealand Amateur Championship (2003) | Round Four | by Bruce Young | 12 Apr 2003

James Nitties and Hamish Robertson will face each other in tomorrow's New Zealand Amateur final after both won close fought matches in today's semi-finals at the Chisolm Park Links in Dunedin.

Nitties was able to edge ahead of West Australian 18-year-old Michael Sim 2 up after winning the last two holes of his match and Robertson was a 2 & 1 victor against Dean Sipson.

So the 22-year-old Robertson from Taihape in New Zealand's North Island and hardly amongst the echelon of New Zealand amateur golf has his chance to elevate his status, if he hasn't already done so, in the final against the well-performed Nitties. Nitties hails from Charlestown near Newcastle but attends the Australian Institute of Sport in Melbourne.
