New South Welshman, Richard Swift, has set a hot pace midway through the first round of the 2003 WA PGA Championship held at Wanneroo Golf Club today. Swift who was off the tee early, shot a sizzling 6 under par 66 including eight birdies and two bogeys.
Following close behind is Chris Campbell from NSW who shot a wonderful 5 under and local Western Australian Kim Felton on 4 under with two others, Adrian Percey from South Australia and Tim Wilkinson from New Zealand. Felton who is defending champion and is playing on his home course started the day with a birdie on the par four first, chipped in out of a bunker for an eagle on the par five second and for good measure followed it up with another birdie on the par four third to be 4 under after three holes.
With the playing conditions in Perth almost perfect today there is sure to be some low numbers in the afternoon field.
