The Henrico County Open was cancelled today because of rain, with tour officials attempting to reschedule the event for 14-20th July.
By mid-day, officials were forced to reduce the tournament to an 18-hole event, with only half the purse to be contested, and both the money and title to be listed as unofficial.
Play was finally called for the day early afternoon with the hope of resuming play Sunday. Another storm front moved through the area several hours later, prompting the decision to stop the event.
Rain has fallen 24 of 31 days in May with the monthly total almost 2 1/2 times the average.
"We will be working to finalize those arrangements in the next few days," Slater said. "This has been a difficult week for everyone. The sponsors, the players and the volunteers have all been fantastic in helping deal with the constant rain and uncertainty of this event. We are looking forward to coming back in a couple of months."
