IN: News | Champions | Senior PGA Championship (2003) | Wrap | by Bruce Young | 09 Jun 2003

John Jacobs won his first 'major' on the Champions Tour when he took out the Seniors PGA Championship in Pennsylvania today. Jacobs has won just the five events on the Champions Tour but has been a prolific money winner since joining the tour in 1996, accumulating earnings of $US7 million in that time.

He won today by two shots following a last round two under 68 on a golf course that wasn't giving much away, in fact at the end of seventy two holes only four players were under par. Bobby Wadkins was second with Bruce Lietzke and defending champion Fuzzy Zoeller tied in third.

Tour rookie Des Smyth was fourth along with Doug Tewell.

Leading Australian was Stewart Ginn in 28th place, with David Graham 56th and Terry Gale 67th.
