Patrick Sheehan opened his account at the 2002 Price Cutter Championship with a -9 (63) to take a two stroke lead into the second round. Sheehan, who currently sits at 25th on the Buy.com moneylist, shot five birdies on each nine holes and, amazingly in such a low total, a bogey at the Par 4 9th holes.
One-time Aussie Zoran Zorkic and Michael Connell sit in second place after rounds of -7 (65). There are nineteen players within four strokes of the lead including twelve players at -5 and equal 9th.
Kiwi Steve Alker, whose consistency has taken him to 6th on the moneylist this year, started the tournament solidly with a -4 (68) to end the first round in 21st place alongside Anthony Painter.
Gavin Coles closed with -2 (T51), Ben Ferguson (T70) and Nathan Green, who will have a lot of work to do in the second round after posting a 2 (74) and finishing in 126th place.
