AGU test drives Moonah Links for 2003 Australian Open

On the day preceding a Board Meeting to progress planning for this years Australian Open, Colin Phillips Executive Director, Australian Golf Union, invited his fellow directors for 18 holes where the world champions will compete in November – The Open Course at Moonah Links.

Mr Phillips said, “With the prime objective of cementing The Australian in the top 5 International golf tournaments, I wanted my colleagues to see and appreciate for themselves just how Moonah Links – this years host venue – is shaping up.”

“It was encouraging to get their unanimous reaction. Moonah Links has matured into being one of the world’s best championship courses. The course is in superb condition which makes us confident 2003 will truly be our best Australian Open yet,” he said.

The new $ 40 million Peppers Moonah Links accommodation facility and Clubhouse is already fully booked out for The Open which runs November 27 – 30.

The event will be telecast to an international audience exceeding 130 million.
