Gamez and Hayes share lead

Robert Gamez, who has not won on the PGA Tour since 1990, shot a -5 (66) for a share of the third round lead at the 2002 John Deere Classic. Overnight leader J.P. Hayes fired a 67 to join Gamez at -18 going into the fourth and final round.
Mike Heinen, who opened with a 63 but slipped back on day two with a 69, was three strokes off the pace at -15 following a 66. Chris Riley and Briny Baird followed at -14 and in equal 4th, while Tim Petrovic was another shot back.
John Senden leads the Australasians at -9 and in equal 18th following his third round of 68 in a row. Kiwi Michael Long is the only other ANZ player to have made the cut, although a 73 for the second day in a row dropped him into equal 70th.
Defending champion David Gossett shot a 67 to finish in an eight-way tie at -12, six stroke off the pace.
